Hey man, You fellas have inspired me already. I was banded on 11-27 and am down a total of 40 lbs. I had to buy new pants already and am feeling GREAT! I mean I haven't felt this good in years. I even did atkins and got down to about 30 Lbs lower than I am now and never felt this good. I still tire easy, but hey... I still weigh 360. Probably less than that. I will weigh in tomorrow at lunch. Wednesday is my "weigh day" I don't even own a scale so I just use my surgeon's digital scale. It is one of those calibrated scales. If I owned a scale I would be OBSESSED! Keep up the good work fellas. I will meet you on the other side in about a year!

TwinLabs one a day capsule with iron. It dissolves real fast. I mean like within 2 minutes. There may be a little bit of a fishy burp afterwards but it is a great vitamin and it is relatively cheap. Chase it down with a bottle of water and it is flushed out of the pouch. It makes me "pee like a racehorse" though!

yea, I noticed that when I went to solid foods my growling stomach seemed to subside. It still gets going sometimes though... just not as bad. I haven't had my first fill yet. I wonder if the noise will return when I hit the "sweet spot"?

This has been updated... pictures are on the second page. I would just like to know that early this morning my wife went into labor. We went to the hospital and 3 hours later we had our second son in our arms! His name is Liam Saxton and he will hopefully come home tomorrow! <br /> My wife was AMAZING! No pain killers, A Natural! She inspires me to be so much more than I am. <br /> <br /> I have only had 1 hours sleep in the last 40 so I think I will get some shut-eye now! I went to bed last night at 11:30 and she woke me up at 12:30 ugh...<br /> <br /> I will try to get some pictures up soon so all can see my new pride and joy!

Awww Shucks... I am pretty excited! Actually, Here is my Boy!

Thanks for all the kind words everybody. We did indeed get to bring lil Liam home yesterday evening. He is getting the hang of what he is supposed to be doing when he is hungry (much to Mom's relief). He never really cries... he just kinda grunts and whimpers here and there. That is a much welcome change from our first boy. Anyway, as promised, here are some pictuers! The first is Me and my beautiful wife. Second is Liam immediately after he was born. Third is Wife, oldest son Caleb, and Liam. Last is me and Liam after we all got settled into the room at the hospital. Thanks again for all the kind words.

Yeah, I poke around in all your threads just to let you know that the BOYZ are the BEST! they Will beat your pattys!!! Anyway... WOW I am noticing that I don't sweat as much either. I just assumed it was because it is butt-freezing-cold here right now! Just kidding. I don't sweat as much just sitting at my desk either. Before I lost weight, my back always stayed damp with sweat. YUK. I noticed just this morning that I can sit on the coffee table and put my shoes on (that is where I always had to put them on before) without contorting myself into a morbidly obese pretzel just to get them tied! My eyes were not about to be projected from their sockets an impale the walls either! On a bit of a down note... My wedding band and big-'ol-honkin' college ring is about to just fall off my fingers. I am now below the weight I graduated college at! that was 5 years ago!!! I suppose I will have to get them re sized once I get to my goal weight. Maybe I can wrap some duct tape or bailing wire around the bottoms of them to take up space--- redneck jewelry making!!! yeah baby! Glad to hear that your weight is coming off too! Lets keep each other motivated! GO BOYZ!!! -
If you cant even keep a teaspoon of liquid down that is SERIOUS. Gasping for air??? That is SERIOUS. It sounds like you need to have a FIRM talk with your surgeon. Call him and get his but out to the office and give you an unfill or something. At least ask him if there is any fluid in the band from surgery that he CAN take out. I was told by my doc. if I had any shortness of breath to call IMMEDIATELY! Are you sure your doc is taking you serious? It kinda sounds like he is sloughing you off to me. Why did he put the band in "really tight" he is the surgeon... he is supposed to know that there is even more swelling of the stomach AFTER the surgery. I had really good restriction for a few days after surgery but, MY GOSH, nothing like your going through. GET HIS ATTENTION! Could it be that he fit you with a band that is too small? That is why they make multiple sizes!

I LOVED my ice chips in the hospital. It seemed to sooth my stomach ache. I do recall being REAL tight when I got home for several days. The swelling is all gone now and I can drink a bottle of Water REAL easy. I know after i get the "sweet spot" I will not be able to do this... That kinda upsets me... I LOVE to drink a glass of water after mowing the lawn or something. Take it easy ACE. The swelling will subside and you will feel better.

CIGNA people-How long did it take for approval/denial?
TxArcher replied to kacee's topic in Insurance & Financing
Sorry to hear that Chick... Sorry. -
Glad I could help!

You should just be able to go to tickerfactory.com and set up an account. get the code from the finish page and copy and paste it into your sig line. It may take a little tinkering as to which code to use and all but it is pretty neat. If you want to just track weight loss select that one. However, if you want to show start weight, current, and goal weight then select the "weight" selection. Hope this helps.

Yeah Hollie, I know how you feel... so excited... I am so happy for you. I have decided to make Wednesday my "weigh day" I don't own a scale so I just run over to my bariatric center about 5 miles away at lunch on wednesday's and today was my 2 week post-op mark. I am down a total of 40 Lbs. today! I love the way this thing is working! I get my first fill on jan 9th. I can't wait to see what happens after I get some restriction!!! Will be praying for all you fellow Nymphs! Craig -
Wow Jack, I guess you have more than enough motivation to stay away from the booz. Personally, Pre-banding, a 12 pack of beer would last me about a month. I did not even consider myself a drinker. I just liked to have one after a hard day at work. I have not had any alcohol in the 2 weeks since banding. If I ever do have the hard stuff it is usually at large family gatherings. Then I might have a few scotches or maybe a white russian. I suppose the three or four times a year I usually partake in a few hard ones wont hurt me in the long run.?

be sure to take some measurements and picx. before and after!

To all those that have accomplished their goal weight loss, or those that are just at am MUCH more healthy weight... When you see someone that is MO, do you have an urge well up in you to share your experience with them? I know it may be rude... "hey, I see that your MO, let me explain some options available to you." I just got banded, and I find myself thinking this way. I can't imagine how hard it will be for me to keep to myself and not offend people later down the road when I am at or near (at least) my goal weight! If you have ever spoke to someone "cold" (unsolicited) give us some examples of how it went! Maybe if enough of us bandsters step outside of our comfort zones and get creative with our "presentation" to people, we could really help thousands of MO people get on to MUCH healthier and happier lives!

Hey, While I was toweling off this morning after my shower, the towel snagged one of the ends of my small incision lines. I was closed up with that rubbery glue stuff. Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago... I looked at the incision and it was just a little red looking. I touched the scab area and it seemed to "float/slide" around. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the scab had indeed been lifted up. There was just a tad bit of pus underneath the scab, and a little hole. Well, I figured the scab would never adhere, so I removed it. This left just a very small diameter hole. Kinda like this ----------0 I cleaned it out with alcohol and hydrogen peroxide and then opened a new tube of super glue (I close all my cuts and wounds with the stuff, it works great) and let it set up. I am going to watch it tonight and if it flares up at all I think I will get some medical attention. It seems to be staying closed for now.

Open suture!!! Medical types PLEASE read!!!

yeah, I have not seen any changes in it at all. I poured about a capfull of alcohol and another of hydrogen peroxide each. That alcohol smarts a bit! After it dried off, the glue was applied. I suppose the wound is clean and closed. I will still keep an eye on it though. Thanks for the replies! -
True, true. I am a newbie, surgically speaking. However, that said, It was over 3 years ago that I began my journey to get to the point I am today. I have done my research, comparisons, other diets, etc. I am excited about the life I will attain in the future. I agree there is a bit of a honeymoon stage that I am sure will wear off. I will have to learn to live with my band. (even with its unpleasing parts sometimes) I just hope and pray that my excitement for helping others NEVER wains. I feel like I am a nurturer by heart and I want to be able to help people in pain somewhere down the line. I, however, DO NOT have intentions of intentionally hurting anyone. That would be counter-intuitive. WOW. this is by far the BEST discussion I have ever had on ANY forum and I am active in several different forums! I appreciate the open-minded atmosphere I find on LBT. Not that I am calling it quits on this conversation, I just need to go to bed soon! Gotta get the fam. up and go to Sunday-School and Worship! I am excited... last Sunday, I was still doped up on Hydrocodone. EEK!

Hummmm... I am thinking bout what you all have said... Maybe it is a difference of perspective from a gender standpoint. I am a guy and y'all are all gals. I know there has to be some difference of perspective there. I am in no way saying I think you all are wrong or I am right. hummmm... I am thinking...

You have a very good point WBB. I respect what you are saying... but what if this was just what they need to get them the info they need... My wife and I are talking about this same topic right now and she had a good point also. With all the discrimination out there today against MO folks, It might be very insulting to them. INSTEAD, just try to be the one person that is in no way discriminating to them. Help them out and be friendly to them. I think this would work if you were developing relationship with someone. But what about those folks that are out there that you know you will never see again? What then. The "just be friendly with them" aspect seems to me like "oh just sweep the problem under the rug and forget it" type attitude. I "swept a lot of problem down my gullet" for years and that is what got me to 400 lbs. I think it is time to be proactive in some way and start sharing with people. Now remember, I have only had my surgery so maybe this is a bit of the "baby bird trying to fly" syndrome, and maybe I will feel differently about this in a year 1/2 after I am there and have worked through some of my own issues that caused me to eat emotionally. just my 2 cents!

Hey... I know that the pats are going to the SB. They both can. Pats are AFC and Boys are NFC. The Pats can go, but the BOYZ WILL WIN!!!!
