Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on here but I need some help. I was sleeved 5/20 (almost 6mos) and I've been stuck for about a month. I work out 3-5x week and have a trainer. I'm 5'2 and down 41lb. How many cals a day are you having? I'm eating about 800-850 but seems a little low now that I think about it. SW: 213 CW: 172 Thanks in advance!

Falling asleep after eating?! HELP!
Collegegang77 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, So since Friday I've been experiencing something very strange. Every time I eat immediately after a meal I feel extremely sleepy like I must lay down and sleep or I might pass out. I feel like this could be something relates to blood sugar and I heard sometimes after surgery ppl can become hypoglycemic. I was not diabetic before surgery (5/20/13) so not sure what is going on. I'm waiting for call back from the doc now. Any advice is appreciated!!! -

I would ask your NUT bc diet snapple is listed on my post-op diet as an acceptable liquid. I have one about 1-2x per week.

Stich Poking Out!
Collegegang77 replied to Collegegang77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the doc said he would like for me to try yanking it out (ugh no) or cut it and place a bandaid over the incision. He said if I leave it as is it won't heal. He did ask me to monitor it to be sure it doesn't become infected. -

Thanks! I have a call in to my doc right now waiting to see what he would like me to do. Yank it out?! Ouch sounds painful -
I'm 24 days post-op and decided to hold my 3mo old nephew (18lbs) for the first time today. Immediately started feeling pain on my right side after putting him down and now (few hours later) I have a Stitch poking out of one of my incisions. All my other incisions are fully closed (I hope). What to do? What to do? I typed some gauze of the incision but should I call the doctor?

Thank you for recommending the liquid Tylenol. I don't think about that. Headed to CVS to get some ASAP. Yes I think it might be the low cals mixed with extreme heat in Cali. Thanks again for your help! -
Hi everyone, I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and for the last 3 days I have been experiencing very bad headaches. I haven't taken anything because I'm afraid to swallow any pills and my doctor said no Advil, Morton. Etc.. Think ill give my doc a call tomorrow to ask him what I can take. I'm having about 300-400cals a day and drinking lots of Water. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I don't how comfortable you might feel with this but I took a shot of lemon juice with a little salt and it definitely helped me. I heard the acid helps with getting your tummy gargled and thus some relief. I tired it about 5days post-op and haven't had any real issues since.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum but wanted to provide a little help with coping strategies in getting through this process. I was sleeved 5/20 at Stanford hospital in Palo Alto, Ca. I was a band to sleeve revision. Band was placed in 2010 and I suffered for two years not losing much weight. During my time with the band i sought therapy and even had to go into treatment for an eating disorder. I felt hopeless since losing almost no weight and spiraled out of control with binging and purging and diet pills. I Decided to have my band removed in 2012 and start personal training. Trained for 6mos lost 10-12lbs and some body fat and decided after suffering from depression and medical complications i would move forward with another procedure. So here I am 15 days post op My doc cleared me to began a regular diet after losing 12lbs post-op and 5 pre-op so 17lbs as of 11 days post op. (keep in mind he's a world renown surgeon) he was concern about my weight loss moving to fast as I don't have a huge amount to lose. Pre-op 213 Surgery Day- 208 CW- 194....so here my thoughts. Although I have been cleared to eat I'm not ready so I'm working slowly on getting in my Protein and Water. I decided to purchase a few books on the importance of clean eating, obesity related medical problems, and a journal. As I began feeling "cravings" I started reading and journaling more and more. And this has been a HUGE help!! Learning about what I have done to my old body and the seeing how I have the opportunity to start over now helps me in managing how I will eat with this new tummy I also journal everything I'm feeling, physical changes I'm experiencing, etc. I actually bought the journal before surgery and began to keep notes the weekend before. I wrote down the hospital name, doctor, time, date, etc. the next day I wrote who was present during my surgery (husband/family) why I choose to have the surgery and what I was feeling. I plan to use the journal as a reminder for myself, even years from now, of my painful/life changing journey. I work in mental health and provide counseling services on a daily basis but it wasn't until I began to use the coping strategies that I teach to my clients for myself that I was able to see things differently. food is no longer an option for coping! It's prayer, god, and reading that is my strength. Hope this helps as I know it's a I difficult process as I too am struggling with it all but remind yourself why you sought the change in the first place.
