  1. I lost 11 pounds on my pre op diet, and only 5 more since then -- and my surgery was June 3rd. REALLY frustrated and worried that I'm going to fail.

    (cheaters) Help

Today was my son's 5th birthday. He wanted brownies and Indian food for lunch. I got through the day, but I did taste the brownies and had several spoonfuls of the chocolate frosting. I also am pretty sure I ate more than 1/2 cup of paneer with sauce -- but it went down and I didn't get sick. Tonight my stomach is growling -- that hasn't happened since before surgery. I'm actually feeling hungry, which has not been the case sinceI got the sleeve on June 3rd. I'm really feeling like a failure right now, and am very worried I'm not going to be able to make lasting changes in my behavior towards food. It doesn't help that I haven't list any weight for a week now (today was the only day I have been off my eating plan; if anything, I have a very hard time getting in my 1/4 cup of low carb food 6 times a day).

    Losing the weight

I was sleeved on June 3rd; down 16 pounds so far, but only lost a pound last week and haven't lost anything since weighing in at the surgeon's office on June 13th -- in fact, I'm up 5 ounces. I am really frustrated. I'm supposed to be eating 6 small (quarter cup) meals a day, and I can only manage 4 on a good day. I do drink the Fast Track protein soups, fruit drinks, and hot chocolate, so I am getting some nutrition in. I was just hoping to lose faster than this.
  4. I leave for Journeylite surgery center in 25 minutes; my conversion from band to seeve is scheduled for 2:00. I am really nervous and praying that I do better with the sleeve than I did with the band. And I am EXTREMELY thirsty!

    Freaking out. :/

MizzouGirl -- I am new here, how do I found your post about surgery? How are you doing?
  6. Good luck -- I'm getting conversion surgery tomorrow too!
  7. My surgery is tomorrow -- not really nervous yet, but feeling a little discouraged after reading posts from someone who is struggling. I am conversion from band to sleeve. I really thought the band was going to be the answer for me, but it wasn't by a long shot. Hoping and praying I am more successful with the sleeve. Best of luck, Mizzou!

    scared nervous and hungryyyy

My surgeon uses Medifast, and the length of time you do the pre op diet is determined by your BMI. I am lucky that I only had to do one week -- I can't imagine doing this for 2. My surgery is tomorrow and for some reason, I'm not nervous -- go figure! I am a conversion from lap band, so there's about a 20% chance there will be too much scar tissue in my stomach to do the sleeve; I hope and pray that's not the case, but by this time tomorrow night I will know for sure! @Tigerbelle -- you were hungry post op?? That's discouraging! I haven't heard anyone say that hunger was an issue after surgery. @PainintheGlass -- good luck tomorrow!
  9. For my diet, I had to do Medifast -- blech. I used to juice every day, but now I do green smoothies using a Vitamix blender. I decided to switch because while juicing gives you lots of nutrients, you don't get the fiber from all your fruits and veggies. Still, juicing is wonderful, and I highly recommend the Breville Juice Fountain Elite. It's a terrific juicer!

    Barium swallow test?

I am a band to sleeve conversion patient -- surgery this Monday. I haven't heard anything about a leak test?? Does every sleeve patient have this, post op? I have done plenty of barium swallows -- no biggie, and did the EGD last month, also no big deal.

    Weigh in?

My surgery is Monday -- conversion from band to sleeve. I would think they would definitely weigh you pre surgery, because you will have lost weight on your pre op diet. My surgeon's office weighs me every time I set foot through the door!

A set back on the Pre-Op diet

My pre op diet (my surgery is this Monday -- conversion from band to sleeve) is Medifast, and it is really unappealing. Last night, I just couldn't face the chili again, so I made a green salad with a few berries, and a dressing of balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, and maybe a half teaspoon of olive oil. It was great! I am on day 5 of my diet - I am so happy I only had to do this for a week! - and have lost 6 pounds. When I had my lap band surgery in 2010, I also lost 6 pounds in a week and everything went fine.
