Okay... Is this crazy to think that baby food might be the easiest thing to eat during the purée phase? I'm talking the sweet stuff... not the baby food veggies and putrid-smelling stuff! I adopted a 5 year old, so I've never been through the baby food phase... what is the best brand?

I'm 6 days post-op tomorrow and there are a couple of things I WISHED I had bought before surgery. I've had it rough and already refilled my pain meds! Hoping the weekend will offer more healing! -Abdominal Binder: every little movement hurts... innards and incisions. It would be sooooo much easier to get up and down, cough, pass gas, etc, if things were held in. My doc said that a little pillow would be sufficient, BUT I BEG TO DIFFER! -Large Icepack: I had bought a small one, but I need one that covers all of my incisions! -Heating pad: works WONDERS for the trapped gas in the shoulders and back... instant relief. -Isopure RTD's: I had tried them out before surgery and loved them, but didn't get anymore. They come in 20oz. glass bottles and have 40 grams of protein. My biggest struggle this week has been getting enough fluids in... Much less protein!!! I sent my brother to buy me more today. If I can drink 3 of those tomorrow (it will take ALL day!), I will have drank 60oz and 120g of protein! Bam!!! -Small-sized Tupperware: It's driving me crazy to put 1/2 cup of broth in our huge cereal bows! It would be nice to know how much the container holds and not have to measure everything, every time!

Good idea! I know I could totally make my own, but I'm all about convenience right now! I have too many other responsibilities and I thought it could be a quick fix, ya know? But as soon as I get some time to experiment, that could be fun!!

What kind of creamers can we use? If I'm choosing a flavored creamer, would FF or SF be the best option? -
July 1 sleevers- are we getting ready?

HELP ME! My NUTs office has been closed for 3 days and won't reopen until Monday!! Can y'all do your best in answering these questions for me? #1 I know my lifetime water/protein goal (64/90), but what should I be aiming for during the first two weeks post-op? I feel like 64/90 is setting me up for failure. I need a more manageable goal! #2 When do I begin taking my bariatric vitamins, calcium, and b12? I feel like I'm taking soooo much right now and I want my body to absorb it all! #3 My NUT packet had conflicting information in it. Do I wait 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 2 hours in between meds/supplements to ensure absorption? #3 When can I begin swallowing small pills? I absolutely DETEST crushing and swallowing my meds now. Worst part of post-op!! #4 I know the focus is water and protein intake, but how many calories do I need each day to prevent starvation mode and progress with weight loss? #5 What are the symptoms of dehydration? I know I'm not getting enough right now, what do I need to be looking for? -
Sleeved 7/1 - 5 days post-op. Lost 15lbs since surgery! Still heavily dependent on pain meds, struggling to get water and protein in! Despite my worries, the weight is falling off!

When do you start counting calories and protein?
kjordan83 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 days post-op and concerned I'm not getting enough fluids and/or protein. What should be my goal every day? How will I know if I'm getting dehydrated? When should I start counting/documenting calories and protein intake? Right now it's hard to keep up with it because I'm so "out of it." I'm sipping in between naps. I want to avoid the "stalls" I keep hearing about, so what should I do? -

Really like the idea of checking boxes! I will eventually move to MFP, but I'm too out of it right now! I can't start shakes until next week, so it's all Water and crystal light for me. I strained some chicken noodle Soup and added some unflavored Protein powder to the broth. -
Okay... So pre-op I bought several glass bottles of the IsoPure RTD's in every flavor to try out. Since the mixes are $50 bucks, I thought I'd better sample them first. I liked the green Apple Melon the best and bought the big bucket. I'm 3 days post-op and tried to mix myself a pitcher to drink over the next week. It LOOKS, nor TASTES anything like the RTD's! The RTD's were clear, the mix was a creamy green. Help!!! It was DISGUSTING!! The directions say to mix 2 scoops with 12oz liquid. Seems like too much!!

I was sleeved on the 1st at 8:00... They sent me home this evening because main pain level was down to a 5, I passed by swallow test, and I was able to keep 3 hours of liquids down. I had a three hour, MISERABLE ride home. Now pain is back at a 10 and the crushable painkillers are NOTHING like the IV stuff. Just took a shower and cried through the whole thing. The gas hurts, I can't tell if the Gas X is helping. Mainly my stomach & incisions HURT! I feel like they are going to rip out. Enormous amounts of pressure.

Any other July 1st sleevers home?
kjordan83 replied to Bredred's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was at 8am yesterday and I'm already home. They practically kicked me out and said I was god enough to come home. I disagreed, but the promised I'd be okay. I had a 3 hour ride home and I AM HURTING. I was not one of the lucky ones who had an easy surgery... it's been rough every step. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. God luck to all the other July Firsters! -
Hey y'all!! I need some help. I have surgery in 2 days and I've been on full liquids for almost 3 weeks. Today and tomorrow I do just clear liquids. I'm a cheer coach at Cheer Camp at Great Wolf Lodge right now and I am MISERABLE!!! I brought cartons of the Swanson's Chicken broth and I can't even choke it down. What can I do to survive until my surgery? What's the whole purpose of "clear liquids" anyway!?! Please help this Cheer Coach!!!!

Howdy y'all! My date is July 1st and I'm BEYOND ready! I was wondering if any of the July Sleevers write blogs? If so, what is your blog called so I can follow you! Mine is http://kjordanjournal.blogspot.com. I just started about a month ago and I absolutely love the therapeutic feeling I get from "putting it all out there!" I look forward to keeping up with this group and celebrating with you on the looser's bench! Good night!

July 1 sleevers- are we getting ready?
kjordan83 replied to ewhitt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my first post! I spend more hours on VST than on FB these days! I'm also scheduled for July 1 in Dallas, TX! I'm on a 2 week, full liquid diet, then 2 days if clear liquids before surgery. Today is Day 5 for me and I could commit a crime!!!!! My head hurts like it never has before! The mornings are fine, but the afternoons and evening suck! Yesterday was sooo much better and I thought I was passed the worst... guess not!! Good luck to everyone!
