100 lbs gone in less than 6 months! Below goal weight!
Cajunlady12 replied to hb5484's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my procedure VGS 10 months ago and I reached my goal weight last week. So many things unhappy things have happened in the last two and a half months that I really was not motivated to lose the weight. I know that it was the procedure that worked it own magic. Congratulations on your weight loss. Keep up the good work. -
I really like the Quest bars. I was doing Bariatric Advantage, but grew tired of them because they tasted like cardboard. The Quest bars are wonderful and cheaper. I love all the flavors especially the cookies and cream and the strawberry cheesecake. They can be addictive, only eat if have no other form of protein in house like yogurt or cheese.

Mokee, Sorry to hear about your husband's illness. I recently lost my husband two months ago suddenly. I don't know how I am going to continue without him. But I know he is with me always. Take care of your self and of course him. I still eat what I am supposed to but I just wish he was here to Celebrate the milestone when I hit onerland. I also wish he was here with me so he could celebrate my year of success with me in Sept. My prayers are with you and your family. Linda Edmundson

Here's a crazy question...
Cajunlady12 replied to SandeeD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon removed the excess stomach through the upper part of my abdomen. It was the longest incision. It bruised the most, but I really did not have a lot of pain. I am glad I had the surgery and feel so much better. I can actually walk for a long time without having knee or back pain. -
I spoke to my physical therapist today and asked him what kind of exercise can I do without hurting my knees. He suggested walking for now. I am walking 10-15 per day and he told me to increase by five minutes a week until I reach 30-45 minutes a day. He told me that when it gets cold in a month or so, to go back to see him and he will give some exercises that I can do at home. I have to be careful due to really bad knees. I see my surgeon next Tuesday and I hope to have lost close to 40 pounds by then.

I lost 19 pounds the first two weeks and about 5-6 pounds a week all total. I am five weeks out as of tomorrow and have lost 29 pounds.

September sleevers please check-in
Cajunlady12 replied to mshoney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Sept 24 and have lost 29 pounds so far. I have been on a stall for the past two weeks. I find that when I exercise I lose a couple of pounds the next day. I am on soft foods and have gotten sick the last two meals because I ate one or two bites too many. I suggest that you just keep up the exercise and diet that you are on. The pounds will come off. I talked to the nurse at the doctors office and that is what she told me. Good luck. -

10 months post op, 100lbs down... and exciting news!

Congratulations on the weight loss and the new baby. You look great in your picture. -
I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow and hit a stall last week. Did not loose a pound for a week. Weighed myself yesterday and down a pound. Even though you are loosing pounds you are loosing inches. Keep doing what you are doing and the scale will move again. Do not weigh yourself everyday it will drive you crazy. I know I did that.

The same thing happened to me when I ate some soft flaky fish. I ended throwing up and feeling went away. You just have to be careful with what you try. I was able to eat some meatloaf that was smothered in gravy and smooshed into a paste, but there was still some heaviness in my chest. Just take small bites. Good luck to you.

Help! Major gout flare.
Cajunlady12 replied to lilijo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your dr and let him know. You might not be able to take the Indomethecin. Tell him what is going on. He might be able to give you something else. -
tomorrow I go in for the very exciting but tortuous last pre op appt...
Cajunlady12 replied to Seela's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The day I signed the surgery consents the nurse took my before picture for my chart. I am sure they will only show other patients if you sign a consent for that. -

I had my surgery on Sept 24 and returned to work on Oct 7. I was lucky there was really not much pain, just sore like after my gallbladder surgery. I have not had any nausea or vomiting except for yesterday but that was my fault. I ate some baked fish, smushed it up, but my new tummy was not ready for that. It came back up in the parking lot of Denny's where I ate it. Will be staying away from fish for a while. Best of luck on your surgery. -
Using CPAP after surgery
Cajunlady12 replied to SuperKen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to bring my CPAP to the hospital and I used it at night in my room. I also still use it at home. The doctor said my PCP would have to send for another sleep study after I have lost some weight to see if I still need it. -
