From the time my family doc put a referral in to Dr Sampath ( surgeon) I waited 1 yr, seen Sampath nov 2012 did all the tests, appointments at the wellness center and then surgery may 30, 2013! So 6 MONTHS. Sleeve and bypass are the only weight loss surgeries covered by MSP ( medical). -

I am from BC had my surgery in BC, I was provided with lots of support systems out here, was sleeved here in Richmond BC . The wait isn't as long as getting it done in Victory BC! Just remember people..... 2 week pre op seems hard, can be difficult and yes you may be hungry BUT just because you think if you can't do this you shouldn't have surgery that's isn't true! Pre op is still with your normal, stretched used to be full tummy, you have to shrink it and your liver. You most certainly CAN and deserve surgery because you will then be dealing with a " new" stomach smaller, holds less, a new and different full feeling. It is a new start, new beginning to eating and learning experience and journey! Good luck to you all Chillyprincess4 on myfitnesspal -

I thought we were not allowed gum? I thought after surgery there was no gum because it lets you suck in more air Same is not using a straw or is that maybe only. While you're recovering ? -

Doesn't it take like a year for the " hunger enzyme " to come back?
-
Depends on what your dietician and surgeon say but between 60-80 grams a day
-
I feel the same way! Because I dont feel hungry I don't feel like eating or get doing something and forget to eat. That is where I'm not getting enough of my fluids and not getting enough of my protein in the day because I just don't think about eating because I don't feel the hunger pain.

My son is graduating from preschool And it is special treat to take him out for dinner and I'm just wondering What would be the best thing to do or to order three weeks post op on mushy food?? Help I am so nervous!

wackiemama replied to wackiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So went out for dinner with the family, my son chose Red Robin. I had water with lemon, a bite of my hubby's cheese stick, 1 fry, and 2 bites of my moms whiskey chicken wrap ( yum)...... i was done! Definitely realize that the food I once enjoyed but was so bad fir me.... Is bad for me!! It causes pain, yucky feeling and just blah. Lesson learned.... -

So excited I went to Cosco and bought kaizen whey isolate protein powder. To try to get more protein in my day and......... OMG!! Got the vanilla ice cream flavour and it is so yummy! So excited to find this big punch of protein 35 g per scoop. My morning shake 1 scoop of it, 1 scoop of body by vi shake mix, 3 large frozen strawberries and 1 cup skim milk..... Blend and yum yum with 50 g of protein! Good start to the day.
