Dr. addressed this in a seminar I went to . They bring the stomach over the band and suture it in place. He then has found that if you put an extra stich in where the band snaps together it helps prevent erosion. He has had good success with this. Dr. Bhesania is from Mich. He is a Proctor for Inamend and helps teach others.

Take me off the May list. Had to cancel d/t ins problems We are summiting for preauthorization First the said we did not have to. Today I was Informed we Dh and myself did not meet the criteria for just covering it. When they say 12 consecutive months they mean the past 12 months. from today backward. With documented proof weighing in at the Dr office on a diet don't count if you were not on a RX for weight loss for the last 12 months. Same with WWetc. what you did in 2001 or 2002 don't count. Soooooo. They said summit it again for peauthorization suggested trying an RX in the mean time. Will take 2-4 months, to get a decision

I think legally you can't drive for 24 hours after general anesthesia.

Would you be happy with 34 lbs lost in 3 months??

That is fantastic. Remember band people loose more slowly than gastric bypass people. This is actually a good thing. Your skin will retain it elasticity better. 34LBS WOOHOO! Way to go girl! -
You guys make me tired already! But I was just giving some thought to start walking in the evening at our local twp park. It has a mile track around it. With crappy knees I will start out at a 1/2 mile and work my way up. (My 78 yr old mom will wlk circles around me.) Thanks for the motivation!

Just banded YESTERDAY and in HORRIBLE pain!
shamrock replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa. Glad you got a new script. This WILL pass just hang in there. Some people do have a harder time with pain control. Liquid tylenol for major surgery I don't think so...ouch. Again this won't last forever. You will be fine. One day at a time, probalbly after days 3-4 you will notice a big difference in the way you feel.. Thank God for our Moms. -
That is fantastic news. I am sorry though that you had to go through so much trouble and stress in the mean time. It is so nice to hear some one has good news!
-
Fantastic Penni. That is really , really good. What kind of things or choices did you do? Hotel and restaraunt dining can be really challanging. Got any tips?

Since we are both going to be banded we had our consultations together. If I was doing this by myself i would have asked Dh to come. If he had any questions he could have also have the chance to ask them. Also sometimes we don't remember everything so another set of ears helps

My husband is going to b Banded too. I have a feeling that even he wasn't he would be very supportive. He has watched me struggle for 15+ years. Even though I am 48 yrs old I was more afraid of my parents reaction. When I told them and also told them we might havea problem with the ins. They automatically said the would pay 1/2 the cost of both of us getting banded. I hope it doesn't come to that, but my hubby and I said thank you. We can swing the loan for 1 of us but not both, and agreed we will take the financial help after we persue our ins. How is your Dh reactiing? How has your Dh handled the fact that you are overwieght to begin with.
-
So sorry to hear your families is going through sad times. Take care of you DH and yourself so you can be healthy for your band.

Surgery Tuesday and I'm PETRIFIED!!!!!
shamrock replied to Betterme2005's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You would not be normal if you were not scared, nervous etc. It will be over soon, you will heal, and be on your way to a brand new lifestyle. My mother-in-law would always tell me "And this to shall pass" she is right. Go window shopping and look at cloths in the regular sizes today to give yourself something to do and look forward to. You will do good and be fine. I will say a little prayer for you. -
Good luck to you. Hope and pray everything goes well for you. And a speedy recovery to.

just one week has passed and i am ready to give up!
shamrock replied to a_bit_pink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When you lose someone or something dear to you it is very natural to go through the grieving process. As a matter a fact it is very good for you to do so. It is the first step of healing and saying good by. As for the milkshakes ( I am waiting to be banded) The nutritionist I saw for my banding even suggested if you are not home and on the road needing something to eat, one of the things you can do at a fast food drive through while you are on the full liquid or mushy stage is get a small milk shake in a larger cup and have them add some ice cubes to it so they will slowly melt and you can sip on the watered down shake. I don't think she meant to do this day ofter day but in a pinch. -
Either was I think it stinks. Is there any reason you can think someone would pull a prank call on you? If it wasn't a prank I have to commend the women on calling you, she is probably very afraid. How did she get your phone # are you listed and is your address listed with your number in the phone book? Such and invasion of privacy, do you really think someone could of gotten pictures like that? Like I said earlier either way it stinks

Thanks for the pictures. You both have done fantastic. Both my Dh and myself are currently to be banded May 24th and June 10th. I am hoping we can be a real support tag team for one another. Do you have any words of wisdom for us. I can think of a lot of positive aspects. Did you run across any negative aspects going through it together? Thank you in advance.
