Sounds like your DR knows what he is doing and alot of his pts have posted here on LBT with all good things. Its normal to be scared before hand, your taking a big step. A big step in the right direction that is. Relax and go with the flow right now. your exciting new life is right around the corner.

Yeah your having way to much pain for being a week post op :think Did you go to a Oral surgeon? When is the last time he physically saw you? Get back in there. I had mine out years ago all 4 at one time, no it was not a pleasant experience. I was swelled up and black and blue forever. I sympathize with you greatly. Do Ice packets help? I thought straws were a no no. Any way (((((SOFT HUGS))))) to you and hope you feel better soon

does this post make me look fat?

I find if I have to ask is because I don't think I look good. So even If he would say no I would probably still feel self concious. If you don't feel good in it don't wear it.

    Whats For Supper???

Regarding Gadorade. Be careful with it if it has red food dye in it. When my kids were little(before all the pedilyte) we would give them gadorade for diarrhea. And the Dr said not with the Red dye because it can irritate the intestinal lining and make things worse
  11. Alright Jan, glad to see you here. LBT people are very supportive no question to big or small or dumb. You got a date? keep us all posted.
  12. Hi, My husband and myself are looking into bariatric surgeries. Both of us have over 100 lbs to lose. I am 48 with two teenagers, a registered nurse, so I am on my feet all the time, 5'4" 280lbs with 2 crappy knees, and premenopausal. We live close to Port Huron Mi and they have a lap band center so we/I am seriously looking into banding verses other surgeries. I have 2 cousins that had stomach bypasses and both ove done well. Also have 3 aquaintances that have had stomach bypasses but know of no one that had a banding. Either are really big steps and cannot be taken lightly. Ihave been spending alot of time on this web site and find ti very helpful I am so glad you are here.

    Day or Overnight?

Its called a 23 hour hold for insurance purposes. It is billed al little different. Give me an over night stay for piece of mind. You may not feel like you had major surgery but you did. Between possible urinary problems, cardiac problems, stomach problems, blood clot problems, internal bleeding problems, I wanta be where they can moniter me. I'm not a worry wart, just a nurse and know what can happen. I can sleep when I get home the next day.

    I think he likes me....

He sounds wonderful, but I need to be the Devils advocate, Do you have his phone number and have called him? And do you know where he lives? So far from your posts he has called you and been to your place but not visa versa. Sorry to have to ask but a friend of mine got burnt big time by a married man, who inadvertently forget to mention to her about being married but always had an excuse regarding reasons he could not give here anything but his work # or never invited her over to his place. Oh I'm a bad house keeper, or my roommates home or whatever. Putting that aside I hope He REALLY is a nice guy. I'm married to one for 18 years not and he still makes me smile.

I took my band on vacation!

Kim,your living now what I am dreaming. Your an insporation, keep up the good work.
  20. Someone suggested I start my own thread. I bumped my intro. The bypass is very invasive, there are more complications possible, and I really don't like that alot of the weight loss with it is due to malabsorbtion. My PCP knew alot about the band when we went to him to ask about a referral letter. he already has a couple of pts that had the Band and they are doing well. Since he has been our PCP for 15 years he knows us very well including all our weight loss attempts and co morbities. We asked him and he said he thought we were both excellent candidates for the band. No problem with the letter. We have gone to 2 seminars We have both had our psych consults. and have a consult with Dr. Bhesania on March 28. The Lap band center of Michigan is only 25 minutes for us to get to. Another nice thing is the shorter recovery time. I am a RN and work contingent (when I want) but I have no benefits ie paid medical leave and my husband is self employed. He doesn't work, he don't get paid. So that is also a big factor 6 weeks to recover from the bypass would but us into financial ruin. We also buy our own health ins. We have bcbs it will cover the band if you have a bmi over 40, 12 consecutive months of Dr supervised weight loss attempts, pass a pysch consult. we meet that so now do the banding consult and summit to bcbs and cross our fingers. I have been doing alot reading on the internet. forums and articles. Just ordered a book and a cook book both written by people who have had the band
  21. Good luck to you tommorow, I think there is someone else being banded tommorow too so good luck to both. :banana
