Beka - I feel as you do. I was banded on Aug. 1 and at first I was doing so well - 16lbs. in 3 weeks. Now I feel as though I can eat anything and am scared to go for my first fill on Friday. I know I lost a few more pounds but feel as though I should have lost more. I don't understand why I am eating like a pig ( well not that bad ) but still I still wonder why I keep feeling so hungry all the time. I, too worry that I will fail.

lag1949 - I had to go once before my surgery and am supposed to go every once in a while after, which I haven't done yet. I was only banded in Aug. of this year and am having my first fill on Friday, so i will probably ask the Doc if I need to go. It isn't my insurance that wants me to go though - I guess going helps to keep you on track of your eating, you know , what you're doing right or wrong.

Hi everyone - please respond ! I was banded on August 1, 2007. I am now in the 5th stage - regular food. I have not had a fill yet, I will have my first fill on Sept. 14. My problem is that I have lost 16 pounds so far but now that I can eat regular foods I haven't lost any more. I feel like I have no restriction and am being a pig! I am trying to be so good about what I eat but I have a daycare and have to give the kids snacks, so it is so hard not to pop a cheetos im my mouth, etc. I am really starting to get desperate over this. I am getting very frustrated -:help: I also own a deli but that isn't a problem since I don't seem to eat there. My problem is junk food and I don't know what to do. After I get my first fill will all of this change? Will I be able to control myself better? Please respond fellow bandsters, cause I really need your support - I hope this surgery won't be a bust for me. Thanks Sweetpea51

Thanks neese007 - I have started to write a daily log of what I eat every day including calories, fat, etc. I also started to walk 3 miles a day and am really trying to ignore nightly hunger. I think if all of you guys can do it I can! Thanks again! P.S. - you're husband sounds like me - I love candy, especially Twix bars!!!

Hi everyone - can anybody tell me what exercises to do for my flabby upper arms? I do have 5 lb. weights that I kind of use but I really don't know what the heck I'm doing. I was just banded on August 1, 2007 so I am new to this - any help would be greatly appreciated! Sweetpea51:help:

Hi - I'm hungry - not head hungry but really stomach rumbling, pain hungry - especially at night ( like at 10:00 pm ). If I just ignore it and try to sleep I wake up feeling starved! What can I eat that isn't so fattening ? I'm in stage 4 right now, and cannot wait for my first fill.:hungry: Thanks everyone.

You guys sound as if you have so much more willpower than I do - hopefully after I have a fill things will be easier. Thanks! Sweetpea51

Thanks for the upper arm exercises - I am a Walmart junkie so tomorrow I'll look for those tapes. And jmcambra, thank you ,too. At least I know where to start now! Sweetpea51

Betsyjane - Thanks a bunch! You and Dave01 really reassured me - I am so looking forward to my first fill. And I am certainly doing better now about the junk food than before the surgery, but it is really hard since I'm around it all day. Thanks again! P.S - Do you really have a deer? I only ask because I have a pot belly pig, among other animals.
-
Thank you Dave01 - I feel a bit better. Hopefully it will be easier for me after my first fill. Thanks again! Sweetpea51

Hey Lee4lov when were you banded?

Hi everyone - I was banded on Aug. 1, 2007. I am in my 3rd to 4th week and supposed to be eating a stage 3 diet - pureed food - like baby food. I cannot eat food that way (gross) so I've been eating mushies instead. I feel fine but am wondering if i'm doing more harm than good. I've lost 13lbs. so far. I would appreciate any feedback from as many as possible. Thanks.

Hi everyone - can someone give me a few ideas on what to eat? i'm on my second stage - full liquids - and i'm getting bored eating the same things. please help before i go crazy!! thanks all.:whoo:

hello debsig - i was banded at rhode island hospital by dr. roye on august 1, 2007. i am three weeks out of surgery and really it's been pretty easy for me. my only concern right now is that two of my incisions are a bit red so i'm watching them closely. i go back to the surgeon on sept. 19 - i guess i'll have my first fill then. i am on pureed foods right now and still have another week before i start on mushies - can't wait! i'm getting tired of cream soups, etc. good luck to you and write me whenever you want to - it's nice to talk to another rhode islander! sweetpea51

What do you eat for breakfast? I need ideas!
sweetpea51 replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rain - how about oatmeal or cream of wheat? also, pureed fruit? -
Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
sweetpea51 replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
kimmom - that is a great idea. i've been wondering what others are eating and trying to get new ideas. i've been eating the same way as you are - i like the ground chicken in a can ( like tuna ) and pureed carrots. also, i make alot of cream soups. sweetpea51 -
hi - i was banded a week ago and my dr. told me to drink about 3-4 ozs. an hour. also for meals to drink 3ozs. so far this has worked perfectly for me. good luck!

Anyone forced to have LB & hate having it all the time?
sweetpea51 replied to DieselAngel2005's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
oh my gosh - this was so illegal! why did you do what you were told to do? i'm sorry, but what kind of parents do you have? i would tell another doctor what you're parents did to you - tell someone! this is barbaric! please. do something to stick up for yourself. -
Hi - my doctor also told me that the liquid stage means clear liquids only - next week i can start creamy liquids. i guess it depends on the doctor, but i too am getting bored with clear liquods.

Post-Op nastiness, ways to get through it?
sweetpea51 replied to Ses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm just three days out of the hospital and i feel the same way. it's horrible, but i find that the meds my doc sent me home with for pain are too strong for me ( i can't take any narcotics ) so i just take liquid tylenol when i have pain and i feel much better. hang in there, it will get better for both of us! -
what?? I'm three days post op and i can't have any of that stuff yet! are you sure you're supposed to be eating that stuff?
-
Hi - can anyone tell me exactly what you can have right after the lap band surgery? i know there is a liquid you have to follow for a couple of weeks, right? What exactly can you have for this liquid diet? Thanks

Hi - I am being banded on Wednesday, August 1. I am a bit nervous and would like to hear from recent banders about how long the surgery took, were you starving after, and how long were you in the hospital. Also, if any rhode islanders are out there, who was your surgeon? I would appreciate any info from everyone about your experiences with this. thanks. sweetpea51:o

Hi - I am going to have my surgery in July and am wondering about dealing with loose skin after the weight comes off. I see lots of people who have had the surgery and they don't seem to have loose skin - I weigh 240 lbs. right now and work two jobs so I am very busy, and I know I will have to find time to exercise ( I used to walk 3 miles a day before I became a business owner and don't have much time now ). I would appreciate it if someone would let me know of their experiences with this. I still have so many questions about the surgery but am really worried about loose skin. Thanks Sweetpea51

I found out today I must do a sleep apnia test.
sweetpea51 replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi - i had the sleep apnea test before I even got a surgery date. This is to be sure that you get enough air into your lungs while having the surgery. it is very important so do it as soon as possible and then have the surgery knowing you covered all of your bases. Good luck!
