December 2015 Surgery Dates - Gastric Bypass (RNY)
DeezJeanz replied to KirstyKirst81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
To Amy n Cocoa...a little advice from a sleever who'll revise to gbp Friday, Lord willing. Don't think of anything as"one last", bc if you do, you'll only want it more. It's not like you'll never eat it again, itll just be "one last" time that it'll be that much of it in one sitting. The mind can be an ugly thing with the tricks it can play but we are in control of those thoughts and too can play tricks back. So keep telling yourselves, it's a life style change starting with smaller amounts, not zero amounts. I hope that made sense, im on my 10 day liq preop and my mind says give it a rest:)). But gl and know that IT'S THE LAST BIG PIECE of whatever, not the last piece; ). Gl -

December 2015 Surgery Dates - Gastric Bypass (RNY)
DeezJeanz replied to KirstyKirst81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Dee Dee, welcome Of course you're welcome here! I'm a bit late on my replies this week. So this isn't your first rodeo - it's good you know what to expect! Is there anything you would have done differently your first time that you might do this time? I hope RNY takes care of what the sleeve didn't do for you and that you have great results from it. Congrats on your first loss too! Ty Kirsty;) i hope it works too bc its my last option or being this way in pain for the rest of my life:( the ONLY thing that i would do differently is to have the RNY instead. They knew i was on meds for reflux since 2000 and yet they still suggested the sleeve. I even asked a question concerning that to the surgeon at a meeting we had and his words, "you'll do and be just fine. And I ended up staying in the hospital 8 days instead of 2 and after seeing him my first 6 months he then retired and ive been to 3 others n specialist begging to get help. Finally the last doc said you've been threw enough and here i am! I hate that I have to have the surgery not even two years out but I'm also excited and scared at the same time that there may be a chance that they can fix this and I can enjoy the journey finally. Thank you for asking and God Bless yours. -

SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION
DeezJeanz replied to MissLaLa05's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Congrats and God bless your recovery. Lord willing, I'll have revision from sleeve to gb for unrealistic bouts of daily acid reflux, regurgitation at night during sleep and excruciating chest pains. Im praying that this will fix it as my surgeon said that it would! I've been distressed this way since day 1 postop. I pray that yours gets better. Are you scared that it's not gone away since your new surgery? Have they given you a time line when you will get relief, but i am assuming that's why you were revised? Glad you're doing well. Sorry for all the questions but ty for answers:) -

I planted a garden and started canning. Things taste so much better and are healthier when you can control the ingredients. Cranberry Sauce or that congealed log is always a thanksgiving favorite. Here's a healthy version that I hope you'll enjoy: Make it yours! Cranberry Sauce Vers 2.0 8 serv, 15' prep, 15' cook time. 2- 12 oz bags fresh cranberries 3/4 cp pineapple juice 1/2 cp no sugar applesauce 1/2 cp Water Juice n zest of 1 orange 3-4 Tbsp of honey or to taste (optional) Instructions 1. Put cranberries, pineapple juice, apple sauce and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. 2. Keep on medium heat, stirring constantly until the cranberries start to explode about 10 to 15 minutes. 3. Reduce to simmer and pour the juice and zest over the cranberry mixture. 4. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes and remove from heat. 5. Cool completely and store in fridge at least 4 hours but preferably overnight before serving. 6. Note: this is not as sweet as store versions. Taste at the end of cooking. It is naturally sweetened from the fruit juice and the applesauce but you can add more honey or stevia to taste if needed. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving. -

Dec 30, 2013 was the day i thought my weightloss journey would change my life for the better. As soon as i awoke, my life was changed, i was in excruciating pain in my chest that they thought i was having a heart attack. I ended up staying for 1 week n a day. It would've been longer but i was scared of getting a feeding tube do i forced myself to drink. To make a long long story short, I'd end up having an egd monthly, upper gi 3 times, sent to specialists to figure out what happened to me. I've been on so many meds, throwing up most nights anything that I'd eaten that day to present, acid reflux an understatement ! Ph tests, swallow test, had 3 different surgeons see me. Finally, lots of continuous praying, i was sent to the surgeon that was suppose to do the surgery initially. After 3 months of her investigating, she decided that i need a revision. So here i am, starting all over again with the stages, minus 85% of my stomach. To this day, i can still only drink about 32 ounces of liquiq per day, forcing that. It hurts to drink, eat, swallow my own saliva, i hate to think of eating or drinking. I lost 83 lbs, put back 10 bc i started eating rice, although it hurt, it was less painful and simple to cook wo wasting it bc i can't eat it! I gave up on exercising and even caring. I told my doc that as well. She's very kind and hard knocks at the same time. There will be 2 surgeons, i am scared, she said id need a drain, i might be cut instead of scoped bc of possible scar tissue from vsg, and a higher chance of leaking. Wow, seems like i can't catch a break. Please pray if you don't mind. I just moved up and fixed thanksgiving so that i could try and eat with my family. Dec 4th, im discouraged but trying to be hopeful. God willing, this will make things the way they should have been b4, if not better! God bless you all and gl. Thank you for reading my story. I hope to have good news postop!

Conversion from Gastric Sleeve to Bypass
DeezJeanz replied to noellegz1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Rebecca, i do pray that all goes great with you as well. Just a few hours ago, i was questioning my decision again as well. I asked my husband, quality over quantity of life. ..he said, "I've watched you suffer for almost 2 years since day one, if i had to choose for you, I'd say quality". So for right now Rebecca, I'm sticking with having the surgery but I'm still scared. I'm on day 3 of liquids but I've been nauseated for about a month now, I'm scared there might be something else wrong with the sleeve, never been nauseated before, ugh. Wondering if it's trying to tell me something about the gbs, ughhh!! -
December 2015 Surgery Dates - Gastric Bypass (RNY)
DeezJeanz replied to KirstyKirst81's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello all, im Dee Dee. I just wanted to add and hopefully be welcomed here, I am a revision from the sleeve Dec 30, 2013. Since i woke from that surgery, ive had complications, so this is the method they've decided would help me. Although i lost 84 lbs, ive had difficulties with MAJOR ACID REFLUX, putting it lightly! So, Lord willing, I'm sceduled for Dec 4. Started liquids Nov 21st, did early thanksgiving for family last week. Although I've been down this road, it's still difficult bc of the head n eye hunger, leftover thanksgiving, ugh! Im scared being its my second one and increase chance of problems. But I've prayed for relief so that i can enjoy this journey finally, so tho I'm scared i have faith that this is my answer. I've been more than miserable for almost 2yrs post sleeve and it's time for relief. God bless all of ya'll on this journey and your surgeons. Gl from Virginia! -

Conversion from Gastric Sleeve to Bypass
DeezJeanz replied to noellegz1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, if this is still active. I'm having a revision to gbp Dec 4...from vsg Dec 30, 2013. Same issues as you all but mine started the day i woke from surgery, ended up staying 8 days. I have lots of chest pains so I'm terrified of gbp bc im not sure how that will fix my pains. They say is part of acid reflux, but i didn't know it could hurt like the feeling of swallowing hard rocks! I pray this works bc I've suffered since day one. Did yall lose more weight after the revision? My surgeon said that i prob would, i nvr got to my goal weight of 140 with the vsg any ways. But whether i do or don't, i just pray that it stops this pain and i can njoy finally my decision to get help in the first place. Gl all and thx for any answers you care to share:) -
If it's not too late plz add me 164.6, GW 155. I've been apart of several of your challenges and ty. Unfortunately tho, I'll have revision to gbp surgery on Dec 4 Lord willing, due to continuous problems associated with my sleeve since day one Dec 30, 2013. They decided last month to revise. Started 2 week liquids today, still challenging as b4, but mostly head stuff bc i really don't get hungry. I pray that all goes better and I'll have updates on loss. Gl all and thx either way if I'm able to join you.
