HELLO n welcome to our wonderful and most supportive group! Congrats on the loss, what a success uve had! I'm only a week n a few days postop so I'm not the one to ask about nutrition, however; I will ask, did ur nut give u stages to follow? If so, I'd stick to it until and at least the 4 stage, which for me is maintenance. I'm sure that my sleeve buddies here might can give u better thots on ur but in any case, gl and keep up the gr8 work:) -

Hello, I think I need Help
DeezJeanz replied to delicateorchid's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Gm Angela. First let me say I'm sorry for the loss of ur mom, I loss my last yr:( Trauma is not a friend when it comes to weight loss for sure. But I think that you came to the right place, bc we here are either where u are, or on our way to where we deserve to be, and that's healthy and happy, Lord willing. From Reading your posts, I've gathered that ur here for support, not to be convinced to have weight loss surgery, which is a gr8 thing, bc it is a personal choice, bc only you know what uve been threw, what diets uve tried but didn't work for u, and only u can make this decision. One good thing about this forum of people is that we are here to support whatever choice u make, tell u of our own experiences, and guide u along as u ask questions. As for my journey, started bck in May last yr. I found this site, and nvr looked bck or regretted my decision to have the sleeve, I was rdy for it, and anxious! I read about different outcomes, the good, bad and ugly ad I Thank God for those people who shared. There is more good than bad, but keep in mind, all surgeries are risky. Idk if uve met w a bariatric doc yet, but its the best place to start so that u can get the one on one info as well as the group meeting that they require u go to so that ur questions can be answered by the professionals. Some people get approved right away for insurance to pay, some have a pre diet they want u to do, nd like me, military pay, it doesn't take long, but for government reasons, mine didn't happen until 12/30/13. But I say it was bc God didn't feel it was my turn, and in hind sight, I believe it to b true. I got sleeved less than a week ago. I do not regret it. I had to have a hernia repaired as well, which he warned me of bc most overweight people can get hernia's n not know it until doc goes in. The ugly, I am a rare case he said, but I had esophageal spasms that kept me in for 4 additional days, but like I Said, rare. The good, I got out Tuesday, I'm doing great, no pain from surgery, no need for postop pain meds and I'm here to tell you about it. One last thing, up until the day u have the surgery, u can change ur mind. This is your journey and we are here to guide u along, encourage u, help u as needed and learn from you too. As for Paul, he sounds like a gr8 encouraging man. U didn't say if uve told him so if ur serious about this step, let him know ur thots now, be honest, and find out all the info u can about it so that u both will feel at ease. But regardless, it is your life. I pray that he will support ur choices bc havn som1 there to support u makes it easier but evn if not, its still doable and u can b successful. Idk if what I've said helped you, But I pray that u find peace in ur decisions and know that we are alwayyyys here, u post it, som1 will find it. And on occasion, even the sites developers and administrators will chime in: Alex and Susan. So God bless and look forward to being in ur corner. Dee Dee P.s. u may have postponed ur dream to b a fitness instructor, ur 27, u have time to change ur mind, heck we are women, its our birth right . Som1 needs u out there, so don't give up:) -
4 random post-op questions
DeezJeanz replied to ElliottWasHere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, not to scare you AT ALL but my situation was different. First off let me answer ur post... I had pain but I had a hernia repaired as well which led to what was called esophageal spasms. Bc of them that is the ONLY pain I had. It was enuff. Other than that, I've had no nausea, gas pains, incision pains, nothing but like I said, my trade off was the spasms:/ . As for undies, nope, they placed a catheter in me after I'd been sedated. It stayed in for 4 days bc of my spasms, they didn't want me moving around much. Once Cath removed, I was allowed tgt potty alone but bc of iv, they do help u so as not to trip, but all in all I did it by myself. When getting up, I found that raising the head completely up n legs down, and bedrail up to help hold myself steady, again, no pain but spasms. And once back in bed, same thing, head raised, sit closer to head of bed, once legs on bed, raise legs so u don't pull incisions, then scooch back until ur comfortable. Basically, take all day if need be, don't rush it. I'm finally home after a week n a day, but not due to surgical pain:) God Bless and don't stress it. We all are different, u may be a super star!! -

Gm my sweet inspirational family:). I pray that all are doing better and that its getting easier for you:). Ty Tami J:), yall truly made me strong during my time of need as well and Ik we will remain here for each other. Ur right, who knows, we all might one-day meet, it excites me to think about it. So, I go for my postop appt on Monday, Lord willing. I can't believe its been almost a month of only drinkn:/ but thank God I'm not hungry yet, phys or mentally:). I'm rdy for my second stage though. I'm reading what u all are eating, nd yummy, I'm rdy:). Has any1 been cleared to do more than walking? Oh, I got in 64 oz of liq yesterdayyyy, praise God, and 36 g of protein. I mixed a protein shot, punch, into my crystal lite...discusting, but I drank it w my nose plugged and that was 21g, then the 15g Atkins choc. TMI: two bowel movements, soft, bc I started the morning drinking a whole choc protein, n then came the rest. So no constipation. Did the same this morning, same results. So it may b worth a try for those havn trouble w constipation. Well, I look forward to reading ur post and helping out as I can, n Ty all for your help and encouragement:). Be blessed today as well as being a blessing:)))) -

Gm all. As I've journeyed along, Ive read how many of u are tired and I cudn wrap my head around it, I mean not to the extent that u may have meant it. But wow, I feel ur pain, I got up today w intentions of a good shower n walk, started out drinkn protein from the get go. Then this rush of debilitating exhaustion came ovr me. Yuck! I mean, I was panting from being tired. My 9 yr old asked if I was ok bc she said I was breathing hard. Wow, tired is an understatement:( took my bp, was 130/80 hr 103, geez. Neways, guess I'll lay here n c what happens for a bit. Follow up is Monday, Shuda been two weeks but I was in for a week n a day, so he said to come c him to make sure I'm ok. Well I pray that this day is a gr8 one for you all. Take care n hope to chat ltr. ) -

I had the two week preop, cheated on day 9 not bc I was hungry bc I'd gotten threw that phase but bc my family went to the mall where my fav meal was. Tried it, was discusting, made me angry but I survived. So, postop day I had complications so for the next 5 day stay in the hospital, no drinking, just iv fluids, on day 6 they let me drink. Day 8 came home for another 2 wk liq. I'm no hungry, physically or mentally but my doc makes me drink the 1 oz med cups 4/hr. So I'm constantly drinking shakes, crystal lite lemon flav, some chicken broth I'd done myself prior to surgery ( low sodium) and jello in the oz cups. Ik I prob didnt help u, bc u do know what ur feeling, but the routine of drinkn that I'm on, keeps my mind settled away from head hunger. I cooked for my family today, was hard smelling it but I did good. I guess smelln it everyday in the hospital helped a lot. God bless and gl and if ur able to walk, take a stroll, read a good book, play spades on ur phone like I Do, lol. And most of all, all u can do is one day at a time, so don't waste it on the next day or the ten other days. Just get threw today.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
DeezJeanz replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello All. Today was a pretty good day thus far. I slept well last night:) my doc wants me to drink a liter and a half of liq, which he says includes at least 1 1/2 protein shakes and broth. I can tolerate all temps, I drink Atkins choc, which I better tolerate than the boost vanilla they tried givn me, vanilla really upset my stomach. I can do the hello very well too. I feel like I'm drinkn all the time but its out of the 1 oz med cups they gave me. He wants me to get in at least 4 oz an hr. It's doable and somtms I've done more. He gave me liq colace which literally burned the heck out of my throat, any1 else exp that? I will NOT take it again, that was my only issue today, still buns a little:( I'll start m.o.m. instead. No incision pains at all and Praise God no spasms unless I swallow too much at once. Well I pray that u all are feeling a day closer to gr8 and I'll b checkn in on you. Njoy ur day, and chat soon:)))) -

# of nights in hospital?
DeezJeanz replied to kimr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to expect 3 nights. I had surgery 12/30/13 in the early a.m. I woke up with lots of sharp chest pains which radiated to my heart. They started running heart test xs 3 to check my enzymes n make sure no heart attack. Day 2 same issue, very badly, they diagnosed it as esophageal spasms. I was told I also had a hernia repaired. Day 2 n 3 I was taken down for leak test, too painful to swallow (spasms) too swollen for liq to pass threw, nvr really " passed" the test, so doc made me npo and I ended up stayn a week n a day. They finally let me drink Friday n since I cud tol liq pain free, they decided to let me go today, Praise God. So far so good, just can't get comfy. Gla. -
