Hey Lil, Its cool isn't it. Now we can have threads dedicated to particular topics and we will be able to keep track of all conversations much easier. Glad to hear that you are up and about yourself after your little incident last week.! It is so easy to be overfilled thats why its recommended that we are close to our fill providers for at least two weeks post fill. With new people setting up all the time hopefully we have a fill provider thats not too far away from any of us in the near future. Take care.:purplebananna:

Hey Nikki Welcome back, and congratulations on the birth of Kai, great name. Fantastic result needing to put on weight after the baby's birth. Though I do hope you are feeling well and not suffering because of the weight loss.. Keep posting and let us know how its all going with you. Great to hear from you again.:purplebananna:

Hi Susan, Thanks for that, you're quite right about the category "introductions". And now that you have seen our thread is it possible that we could have Thread dedicated to Lap Band Support in Ireland, as you will have noticed we talk about a range of subjects relating to lap bands and it would be nice if we could separate some of the discussions or start new ones so that we could keep track of all conversations.:smile:

Hi Siepie, It was lovely to meet you all. Defo on a regular meet up, particularly when so many of you have to come to Dublin on the same day. Keep us informed of the date you choose, so we can all do the countdown together, it would be good if you and Marge can go together. Terry, You are looking so skinny, and your son is just adorable.. Don't be afraid of that tahini paste, the good it does your body far outweighes the fat it has in it. Marge, Decision made, check, Deposit paid, check, Date confirmed, check. Oh my god has it sunk in yet..
-
Hi Terry, Yeah don't worry they'll be open. Looking forward to meeting everyone, see you then.
-
Hi Ailbhe, Thanks for making it easier for me to find the posts:redface: I should have realised, when I check my email I have usually seen all the posts so just delete them, it was only when I opened one I saw where the thread had moved to.:puke: I'v PM'ed one of the moderators to see if we can get a thread for the Irish. In the meantime I hope all new people in Ireland can find us.
-
Hi All, Welcome to part two of our thread, the reason for this second thread is our old one has been moving further and further down the Introductions list and soon it will get very difficult to find us, and we don't want that! If you need to refer back to the old thread here is the link. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f77/hi-ireland-31912/index63.html#post779521 Keep posting:biggrin:

Hi All, I've just noticed that our thread is moving further and further down the list even when we post it's not moving up. So I've taken it upon myself to start another thread with the same name so that we can be found by anyone looking for us. I will give a link to this thread in case anyone wants to refer back to this one. I hope this is okay with everyone.:cursing:
-
Hi Elsie, Thanks for that, if memory serves me right that place is not bad at all. Took me a while to find the thread this morning.:confused2: Must be post holiday hangover.:cursing:. See you Thursday.

Hi All, Oh the bloody chocolate, its everywhere! I've been picking and picking since Sunday, and there's still loads around. You would think that all the compliments that I've been getting from the relations who haven't seen me since last August would keep me motivated and away from the choccies but no the monster rears its ugly head again and again. I have to say though, even though I can eat the chocolate I can't eat the amount I was able to before the band. I mean I will pick up a piece and suck it (yeah I know, sad) and then I won't go near it for a while, then, I'll have another piece and so it goes while the chocolate is around. Before the band I would have polished it off well before Easter Sunday was over.:redface:. Ellen, the isolegen is done in Dublin by Patrick Tracy in the Alisbury Clinic, its not cheap about 2,500. but the way its done is this, first they take a small sample of your collegen from behind your ear, they send that to the lab and grow your own collegen, that takes about 12 weeks then you go back and they inject it into your face it takes a while to kick in but once it does it smooths out all the lines and because its your own collegen it grows and improves the condition of your skin. It lasts between 7 and 12 years. In the meantime I'm thinking of having some botox or restlyn or both.

Hi Ellen I was given solphdine caps after my op. I use them for any serious pain like my VV. I think the ibuprofen is iffy if you have a tendency to hearburn or acid in the stomach as it can iritate that, but I don't think you will have done you band any harm particularly if you not had any acid issues since using them. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Well done on the journey since your band was first done. You have really bit the bullet as far as getting to you previous shape/weight. You have totally inspired me to have the arm lift done and defo at the end of the summer I would like to have it done. Right now I'm looking into fillers for the lines on my face so I can puff up where the fat used to be I'm looking at having the isologen done but that takes a while to kick in but the effects last for 7 to 10 years. I'm in London at the mo so I'm not on the site as much as I would normally but I check in now and then. So talk soon. Hope you're feeling better v soon.

I had my band last year... so glad I found this site!
Coco replied to femme35mm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Femme, It is sometimes very difficult to get your head around the band. I found after numerous trips to the bathroom :wink2: that the only way to eat is to take small bites and then chew and chew and chew and then chew some more. I find that once I take the first three fork/spoonfulls the rest is easy. Before I had the band I used to virtually inhale my food so it was a difficult road to begin with. As for the drinking whilst eating, sorry but thats a big no no. The thing is you will dilute your food and push it through the band quicker than it should go down and as a result you will be hungry more quickly and will not be satisfied for as long as you should be. Do try to eat normal foods just much slower than ever before and don't drink fluids for half an hour before your meals and for 2 hrs after. The optimum time to lose the weight is within the first two years of being banded. Good luck with your journey and keep posting we are here for you.:wink2: -
Hi Ellen, Most of us got letters to say that ACS had sold due to financial difficulties and that the new company had agreed to carry on with our aftercare, and that the new company would write to us shortly. I phoned ACS the day I got the letter and was told that nothing had changed as far as the customer/patient was concerned, that everything would stay the same as regards our care and the staff, it was just the bosses that was changing. Now this, I don't know if this will effect us as the new owners have obviously paid ACS lock stock and barrel and as they are the new owners with an agreement to continue looking after current patients I'm not sure how this will effect us. I would imagine that the people who have high court actions against ACS will be affected by this but as our care has been transfered over to the new owners I don't see the problem. Then again, I could be wrong :confused2:

Hi Ellen, Good luck with the surgery today. I'll be thinking of you. You are so right about Mary Harney, its ridiculous the state of affairs in Irish Hospitals when we see what can be achieved in Europe. Thanks for the information on the Fill Doctor, its good to know that we won't be left in the lurch if it all goes belly up with ACS. Seriously though, you have really spurred me on to checking out plastics for myself, I'm so impressed with your comments about Belgium and also Ailbhe and Elsie you have all had so much praise for both the doctors and the hospital. Hope the itching eases for you, good sign though it means they are getting better. Maybe you could ask for a antihistamine to help ease the itch.

Baint taitnimh as lá le Féile Pádraig.:biggrin: Hi All, Hope you all have enjoyed Paddy's day. Lil, I wouldn't go near Dublin City Parade in a fit. When we were kids we all got to see the Parade waving our little flags around because there weren't so many people there. Now its huge and there is so much going on there are thousands of people there. I brought my two up to Dundrum shopping centre and they had the tri colour and shamrocks painted on their faces, did some art, got some ballon shapes thingys and then posed for a picture for the Gazette so not a bad day and all for free, except for the tenner they got out of me to buy stuff. Now about Belgium, its a date then, we're all off to Dr Yummy this time next year! Or sooner if we can get a group discount. Who's for ARMS who's for TUMMY and who's for LIPO and who's for all three:lol::lol:.

Hi Alesha, Only 7weeks and 4 days but sure who's counting.. The time has just flown. Don't worry you still have lots of time, why don't you get another fill if you're eating rings around yourself. That's the time to book a fill. If you have one done next week it will still give you six weeks before the wedding to lose at least another half stone or so. I don't know if you'll have to go to Belfast or if they'll have a surgeon in place by then in ACS. I'm sure your toe will be fine by the wedding and sure once you can dance at your own wedding isn't that the main thing.:tt2: I hope its not causing you too much pain. As for ACS for the moment we have to trust that they will stand by their promise to see that we are looked after. What the terms are going to be we won't know until the new owners write to us as promised. I mean in all fairness, when Lu was stopped from doing the fills they arranged another fill site, albeit in Belfast but at least if we were desperate for a fill and couldn't wait till after Easter when they are supposed to have another surgeon/fill Dr in place. When that girl had the slip it took a while but they made sure she had the best surgeon in Ireland to repair her, with no lasting damage. I'm not trying to make excuses for ACS but maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt, at least until the new owners write to us. I'm probably going to be slated by some of you for writing this but its how I'm feeling at the moment and I try to look at the positives where possible, there's no point in anticipating the worst. We can leave that for the papers, they are doing a fine job of telling us all how we are feeling, funny, I don't remember talking to Mr O' Farrell.
-
Hi Ellen, Ailbhe and Elsie, You all have brightened my day, I am two clicks away from googling this Mr Yummy myself. Its so nice to have cheerful and funny posts back on the thread. I'm thrilled you are all doing so well. :tt2: Ellen you are amazing, you are recovering so quickly and this hospital treatment which also includes Hotel Visits OMG I'm definitely going there for my plastics and I will be going with a skip in my step having heard your stories. :cool2:Well done on researching and finding possible the best plastic surgeon in the world.
-
Hi Lil Its a long weekend a lot of people are away. Its a real worry what are they up to. I'm going to buy the paper tomorrow to see if there is more than we know in it. I'm off to make dinner now. Talk later.
-
Hi Ellen, You are so funny :sneaky:. I'm dying to know how your arms look as I want that op too. I'm very impressed that you're typing away a few hours after the op. I hope the rest of your 'make over' goes as easily as this part has. Best of luck and looking forward to the next installment.
-
Hi Girls, Well that's a turn up for the books. What was the point in sending us a letter if the paper get the information before some of us. And the name of the company is different to the one we were given. What's that all about? Either the paper got it wrong or they are going to be trading under a different name. I'm afraid to say too much on this thread about how I'm feeling about this, because I'm not sure if the Mail has more or less information than us.
-
Hi Loriha, You put that so much better than me. Well done and hear hear.:smile2:
-
Hi Marge, I don't want to get into an argument with you. I never suggested that you were a member of the media. In fact I remember your very first post and I was one of the first to welcome you to this thread. You are of course welcome to say whatever you want on the forum and I was not refering to you or anyone else who posts on this site it was the people reading the thread and reporting it in the Mail on Sunday that I was refering to. I'm sorry for the confusion. Any advice I give on this site I give with a good heart and I don't believe is spreading bad karma to anyone. Please understand that what is happening in ACS affects our whole life. We need their aftercare for the life of our bands. It is for this reason that we feel that any bad stories in the papers about ACS particularly if they come from this site/thread affects us directly.
-
Hi Marge, Whatever gave you that impression! In my last post I was refering to the Mail on Sunday which quoted directly from this thread in his article for his newspaper. We have enough issues with ACS without matters being fuled by people who are not actually patients of ACS. I thank you for your concern and sympathy with us and I do hope that you manage to find a company who you will be happy with to make the changes you feel are necessary in your life. There are a couple of girls on this thread who were banded in Belgium and are very happy with their care. Maybe you could direct your concerns in their direction I'm sure they will be only too happy to provide any information you require in your quest for weight loss surgery.
