-
I'm approved!!! I am so happy. I called the insurance company this morning and they said that I was approved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all so much for holding my hand during this waiting period. No doubt your thoughts and prayers worked. I guess we will be banded around the same time so it would be great to be able to keep in touch on progress. hugs and kisses Val

Emotional Eating -- workbooks, books?
valzie replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Holly that sounds really good. Yes please keep us posted and let us know if you like it. Val -
Tim I think it would all depend if the man boobs are caused by weight (fat) or breast tissue. Did you have them when you were younger or was it something that developed with your weight? Either way Im sure it will shrink with the weight loss. You might want to check with the Dr. to make sure. Val

Packing for the Hospital
valzie replied to MysticstarD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A pie with a little ice cream sounds great. Do you think they will let you put the ice cream in the Nurses Station Freezer? LOL -
Any August folks out there? I'm Scheduled for August 10.
valzie replied to JudiM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am still waiting on insurance approval but I am scheduled already for Aug. 13th. I was just thinking how great we are all going to look this time next year!!! We can do this. -
I called insurance company this morning and they said it is still pending. Still Waiting! Val
-
Candle I am soo happy for you! That is wonderful news. Did you call or did they call you! What a relief, now you can start getting the stuff you will need for after surgery. All that positive energy really does work. Val

I will be banded on Aug. 13th (pending insurance approval) and my dr. requires only liquids the day before. I am thinking that I am going to try to do slim fast a week before though. Val

10 million baby girls murdered in India and yet it costs $20,000 to adopt
valzie replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
You are both soooo right. There are so many couples out there that cannot conceive and yet children are being killed because of their sex? That is soo sad! I feel for you Sunta. Paying for a child is a crime in itself especially when no one wants that child to begin with. -
I am not banded yet and I have read many of the threads up here. We cannot imagine going out to dinner and ordering an appetizer and only eating one or two things and taking the rest home. I am with you on that. The best thing you can do is go to support groups before and after surgery to help deal with the emotional issues. Going to talk to a psychologist might also be helpful. Many people who have already been banded say that they enjoy food even more than before because they actually taste their food. Get togethers with friends and family become more social events rather than eating events. It may not be easy but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel-Go for it!

Hi Sharon I am sorry to hear about what you are going through. But if your insurance is covering 100 percent of the surgery why do they want money from you up front? Maybe I misunderstood something. Dont panic yet talk with them first. Good luck! Valerie

Made it through day 2!!!....headaches.....
valzie replied to Sybaritic01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More than likely the headaches are due to the lack of sugar in your diet. You are goingthrough sugar/carb. withdraw. It sounds like you are doing a really great job. Keep up the good work the headaches should go away soon. -
Prwk submitted for insurance approval - Send me all the positive energy you can spare
valzie replied to Candle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good advise Pmmegm! Candle I dont have a CPAP but I can imagine how difficult it would be to get used to. Hang in there. As far as the shape and the condition of your body...Well we are all with you and understand. It is depressing but you are doing something about it and that is what you need to focus on right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you...chin up! Val -
I don't see how they cant pay for complications especially if it is affecting your health.
-
Thank you Diann for your care and support. I know that it is all worth it!

Please Consider A Re-think
valzie replied to jackisthin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would save it on your favorites and then just try to get on everyday. Just a suggestion. Val -
I have a friend whose sister was diagnosed with Hoshimoto's also. Before she was diagnosed she was having a hard time swallowing and she described it as if something was caught in her throat. They finally figured out that she had nodules and the tyroid had to be removed. Have it checked out it sounds very similar to what she went through. Val

I have heard others say that sometimes the meds that they take for pain after surgery can do that to you. You can also try stool softeners.

Anyone forced to have LB & hate having it all the time?
valzie replied to DieselAngel2005's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is hard to believe as a parent myself that one could do this to their child especially if you were happy and comfortable with yourself. That being said did you ever tell the surgeon the way you felt and that you were being forced to do this? How could a psych. give approval for this surgery if you were not 100 percent sure that this is what you wanted. What about your primary dr.? There was an 17 year old boy on Big Medicine the other night and even with the parent approval they weren't sure they should perform the surgery. If this is not something that you want I agree that you should get an unfill and that will allow you to eat what you want and pretty much as much as you want. Good luck in your decision. Val
