  1. My nutritionist never set a clear amount of carbs to limit myself to post-sleeve. I'm just wondering how many grams of carbs do you limit yourself to per day?
  2. Back to basics this week. Stalled and regained a few pounds after making bad eating decisions the last couple weeks.

    Fell Off The Wagon!

I'm reviving this thread because I fell off the wagon this past weekend while on vacation. I ate too many carbs and fried foods (although less than I used to eat by far) and I know I was making bad decisions. It's definitely a learning process and a large adjustment, which I'm still working at. Now I need to get back on track and start losing again.

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

I was sleeved on May 21st by Dr. Sabir at Providence. I haven't weighed myself in a couple weeks but last I know I was down 33 pounds.
  5. A real bike, not a stationary bike, and its much harder than I remember as a kid! My thighs and legs are so sore. But I'm working on stamina and going a little further each time!
  6. The first photo was me just under a year ago at my highest weight of about 312 pounds. The second, about a month after my surgery. You can see how much weight I've lost in my face! So far since pre-op, 33 pounds total!
  7. On a bit of a weight roller coaster lately. Up 5 pounds, then down, then up a little again. :(

  8. I've been on Synthroid for hypothyroidism for about 5 years now. I know there's a rumor about how it makes it more difficult to lose weight. It was difficult before surgery, but I have had no problem since having the sleeve. I just had my bloodwork done to check the levels, I'm hoping to lessen the dosage.

    Young Sleevers

That's great and really exciting! The biggest thing that I would say is it is nervewracking but it's not as scary as it sounds. You'll be fine! Also, just be prepared for a whole new relationship with food and eating, it's SO different than before the surgery. I wasn't quite prepared for how drastic it is at first.

    what are u craving?

Right now I'm craving a piece of toast, cereal, and ice cream. Carbs just sound SO GOOD right now.

    Isopure

The only one I could tolerate was the Green Apple Melon or whatever.
  12. The Premiere Protein (chocolate flavor) from Costco is the only one that I really don't mind. If you get it cold enough it can taste like chocolate milk.
  13. I'm just over a month out and so far I've had zero complications or problems. I've had some scares but they were all just in my head because I think too much.
  14. They put me on a blood pressure medication when I left the hospital because it was elevated, but I had to stop taking it because it dropped my blood pressure too low and I'd get dizzy each time I stood up. I'd make sure your blood pressure isn't too low and that you're getting enough liquids/proteins.

    Young Sleevers

It's great to meet you all! I'm glad there's so many young people on here because sometimes I feel like there's still a social stigma about people our age. When I told my friends and people close to me, they were supportive but I could tell they were a bit surprised that I wanted to do this. I don't think they realized how difficult it was to try and lose weight on my own. I also wanted to give myself a second chance to live. I'm hoping this tool will give me more self-confidence and opportunities to my life. I'm excited to hopefully keep in touch with everyone! I know there's lots of helpful forum posts on here but I thought it would be good to have a place to bring up questions, stories, concerns, etc. specific to our age range. I've been fairly lucky with my recovery so far--I haven't had any problems with the food stages although I found myself getting sick of eating the same foods. I'm looking forward to continuing to see the progress of the next few months.
  16. I'll be a month out on the 21st, and so far 22 pounds down from surgery, and 30 total with pre-op diet.

    Chinese Food Allowed?

I had Chinese food (chicken and broccoli) this past Saturday and I didn't have a problem. I didn't find it AS enjoyable as I did before surgery, but it was still good. As long as your stomach and tastebuds agree with it, you'll be able to have it again.
  18. That happened to me too! I was teaching kindergarten and this sweet, sweet girl asked me "Do you like to eat?" I replied with a yes and asked her why. She nonchalantly said, "just wondered." A few seconds later I heard her whisper to one of her classmates, "she's so fat!" It did hurt. Even from a five year old who was otherwise very nice and respectful towards me. I didn't think I had to feel self-conscious in front of kids too!
  19. 100 pounds to go to my goal!

  20. It was sooo difficult for me to go to the movies yesterday and not buy popcorn. I'm one of those people who believe you can't not get it at the theater. Walking in, the smell immediately wafted towards me and I had to practice my strength.

  21. Mine is Days 1-5 Clear Liquids Days 6-14, Full Liquids Days 15-20 Pureed Day 21 You can begin soft foods (which is what I'm starting today) But my plan says no red meat (beef) for 6 months, no raw veggies/fruits for 8 weeks, and no grains for 12 weeks after surgery.
  22. I bought my first smaller size today while shopping! I was able to fit into a size 20 jeans when I used to be a size 24. They're still a little snug, but wearable. And it gives me the chance to wear them for a bit while I continue to lose. I'm almost 3 weeks out, and it's nice to see progress!

    First milestone!

Thank you everyone! It was definitely exciting to see. And congratulations to everyone else who is making the same progress!
  24. I stepped on the scale this morning and discovered that my weight had gone back up by 3 pounds in one day? I know I shouldn't weigh myself each day, but I get excited when I see the number go down. I'm so confused. I'm 2 weeks post-op. Has this happened to anyone else?
  25. One week post-op and I've lost 20 pounds (including pre-op diet). I'm so excited, and this is just the beginning!
