How are you guys doing with your weight-loss weekly? On average how many pounds would you say you lose a week? -
3 weeks out...struggling!
gastricsleever replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the tips everyone. I bought these fruit flavored drinks like Lemon Razzy, Orange pineapple, etc that have 15g of protein in then but I just can't seem to get past the sweetness. They say to mix with 6-8oz water, I mix with 16oz and they still taste too sweet for me! I have the unflavored protein and I add that to thinks like when I eat pudding or cottage cheese but really it's not like I'm adding a whole scoop, so it's only giving me an extra 1g or 2g. I love hot chocolate so maybe I'll try that route. I tried mixing some unflavored protein with my flavored water and that tastes gross!!! Just gonna keep trying! -

Here was another pic- I really took this pic to show my mom how fast my hair has grown in 9 weeks, probably from all my protein shakes and vitamins and I couldn't believe what a difference 9 weeks made in my face! -

Kindle, b2b, Hoosier and all who responded, Thanks for all of your feedback. Today I actually got in 63 grams if protein, well once I finish the last few sips of this protein shake lol. And I got in 4 glasses of water and a watered down glass I apple juice. Hoosier, I really enjoyed the isopure drinks before surgery, but now they nauseate me!! I managed to get in 1/4 of a bottle today which was 10 grams of protein. I am having a hard time tolerating sweets which is why I'm struggling with the protein shakes. But whoever said it is right- you really have to start drinking water as soon as u wake up and continue right up until you go to sleep!! (I started putting a water bottle in the bathroom so that any time I walk in there while getting ready for work, I can sip it.) I'm trying hard, I really want to follow everything right and I would prefer to lose less hair of possible. I lost 30 myself before surgery, including my 2 week pre-op and I am 2 weeks post op and down an additional 15. Amazing the difference I see already! The left was December 13, 2013 and the right was yesterday, down 45lbs. -

Hi everyone it's me again LOL I have a question for you I am almost to weeks post surgery. How long does it take you to be eating and drinking enough to meet your protein numbers? I am having a very hard time getting in much. Today and we had three glasses of water and one protein shake I'm having a hard time trying to force myself to drink and eat. Any feedback or experiences you could provide are always appreciated :-) thank you! -
My date was feb 17...I am in full liquids until 3/5. Then I can start pureed foods.

The IV was like the worst part for me! Lol minus the pain I felt 2-3 days afterwards of course lol but I'm 9 days out and already down 8 lbs, 37 lbs total.
-
did you have problems sleeping afterwards?! I don't know what is going on but I'm 1 week post op and for the last 4 days, I fall asleep, stay asleep for about an hour, then I wake up and cannot fall asleep for hours. Last night I was exhausted, slept for 45mins then was awake until 5:15am! Not sure why?! Getting less than 3 hrs of sleep each night! If you did have problems sleeping post-op, how did u remedy it?

I thought that would be the case but it's the opposite. Like right now i feel like it have so much energy and I haven't even had anything besides water, apple juice and tea (was flying home all day and now on the train from the airport). I feel hungry and thirsty but not tired! Only had 2 hrs of sleep last night. -

I'm gonna talk to my surgeon on Monday about it. Hopefully he can prescribe something. How can I heal if I can't sleep?! -

MY updated list of things to bring.....
gastricsleever replied to Torias mom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went with dr Ariel Ortiz- they stitched incisions on the inside and glue on the outside. My friend had surgery the same day with dr Elias Ortiz and they did not glue the outside of the incisions so she had to change the gauze and band aids everyday herself. They did provide this stuff for her. My hospital didn't provide it bc we didn't need it, since we had glue. -

I was given compression stockings to wear during surgery (had surgery with dr Ariel Ortiz) and they said if u have a long flight home, bring the compression stockings and wear them on the flight back. So that's what I'm going to do on Wednesday. -
what is your favorite preop item you have bought to prepare for surgery?

YES MA'AM!! It's me I know, I didn't get to say goodbye to most ppl! Glad u made it back safe! I will be home on Wednesday. On our plan now, we r allowed to have drinkable yogurt and creamy soup...I'm dying for a creamy soup but can't find any at a restaurant! So I think I will make a stop at walmart tomorrow to find some ready to drink protein drinks and soups. I think it will be a lot easier once I'm home too bc I won't be eating out everyday! Still, I am definite looking forward tome day i can eat egg whites or some avocado lol How r u feeling? -

Vacation is going good. Been in San Diego since Friday, going whale watching tmw then heading up to Los Angeles for 2 days before flying home Wednesday Feeling better and better each day. Hard to believe I just had surgery sometimes! My incisions bother me sometimes when my pants or shirt rub against it too much. And I've got is sticky crap on my from where he bandage over my drain was... I can NOT get the stupid stuff off of me! Ate ok today, but only 30g of protein. 1 shake ( monster milk), 1/2 c veg broth, 1c apple juice, and 1/2c drinkable yogurt. -
Boo, I wish that were me! I'm 5 days post op and while I know it may be head hungry, I see FOOD... Then I see my protein shake or my soup and I desperately want it! Lol I can't wait for the next 2 wks to be over when I can start adding in some pureed foods lol

Gas pains!
gastricsleever replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like is it for medical reasons after surgery or is it just to give u a shape like a corset? Doesn't it hurt wearing it right after surgery? I'm 5 days post op and it bothers me when my pants or shirt rub against some of my incisions...
