How long till you returned to work?
gastricsleever replied to FLAMINGO's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Went back to work 2 weeks later- enjoyed the two weeks. I probably could've gonna back the second week but I definitely got tired by early afternoon and laid down to rest, so it was good to take the full 2 weeks for me (I'm 29 years old). -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
gastricsleever replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here- sleeved 2/17, down 48lbs (30 preop). I think I've lost more inches in the last two weeks that I've been stalled on the scale.., it's crazy! -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
gastricsleever replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep bc if u r eating too few calories ur body will stay in starvation mode. That's what my nutritionist told me. I bumped up my calories and finally dropped a lb after my stall. -

Ditto- I have lost a pound finally after 2 weeks, but what I really noticed was inches lost. I could wear pants that didn't zip up 2 weeks ago! Yahoo!!! -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
gastricsleever replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be 5 wks out Monday- been getting an average of 50 -60 grams of protein a day and an average of 6-7 glasses of water. Some days I get in 8 glasses of water but not all my protein, some days I get in 70-90 grams of protein but not all my water. It's definitely work to do it! I really have to think about it constantly! -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?
gastricsleever replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, the sleeve definitely isn't a miracle pill, we are all still works in progress. I find myself making poor choices sometimes...I just gotta move on and get back in track. i do drink apple juice still, I just drink less of it and mix it with water to dilute it. Half cup of water with half cup of juice and it still tastes good to me. -

That's great, thanks for the update! And who cares if it's slow as long as you are losing! I actually got in a full 64 ounces of water yesterday and 60 grams of protein! Was very proud of myself! The gym definitely helped because I was SO thirsty on the treadmill!! Drank 16oz while on treadmill for an hour, then another 8oz on the drive home! Hoping to break the stall this week but who knows....with more exercise I might just build muscle and not lose anything. -
So on Monday I will be 3 weeks out. I gained 8lbs my first week from all the gas and IV liquids and lost that plus an additional 12lbs week 2, and only 3lbs this week. I know I should be grateful, don't get me wrong!! But I'm struggling to get in my protein and water. Yesterday I only got 18g of protein and 4 glasses of water. I'm am having trouble with protein shakes, they just make me sick anymore! I eat high protein foods but I can only eat so little that I only get in half the protein. Any tips from anyone who's a veteran sleever or someone further out?! Is this the beginning of the "3week stall" everyone's talking about? And how are you getting in your protein?!

What are the Requirements to Have WLS in Mexico
gastricsleever replied to HeatherSchwartz's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just had surgery in Mexico on February 17. Everything went well and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I am very happy with the doctor and facility that I chose and I highly recommend them. I did a lot of research on here and on websites to read about different doctors and it came down to three doctors that I liked. I did a little more research and narrative down to one doctor that I wanted to go to. All the preop testing was done there before surgery and when I got back to United States I am doing follow up at my local hospital. Most people don't even do that follow up at the local hospital and just continue following up and emailing questions to the doctor in Mexico. I preferred to be able to see nutritionist here and talk to someone in person for support which is why am doing follow up at my local hospital. -
3 weeks out...struggling!

That is so good to know! I really appreciate your advice because I bought two cases of a secure before surgery. I had no problems drinking them before surgery but now they make me gag! So hopefully this will help get into next of protein and drink the case that I still have left lol -

4 weeks out and feeling defeated
gastricsleever replied to gastricsleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the reassurance aqua and kindle. I was really worried I am doing something wrong...I mean doesn't a stall mean u r stuck at a weight and not gaining?! Lol I will work on my protein and water and just keep plugging away. I wanted to lose another 12lbs before my birthday on April 8 so I could be down to 230...may not happen but I won't give up. Thanks guys! -

So...this past week I have not weighed myself. My scale at home was on the fritz so I tossed it 3 wks ago and decided to only weigh myself once a week at my moms house. I haven't weighed myself since last Monday. I broke down and bought a scale today bc I hate not knowing. I will be 4 weeks post op and I just weighed myself... I have GaINED a pound!! How??? This week was the best week I've had since surgery as far as getting in all my protein, plus I've been walking 3-4 miles a day! I've not hit 8 cups of water yet but I've gotten in 5-7 a day. I'm trying not to freak out but quite honestly, in feeling very defeated and already that little voice in the back of my head is saying "see, I told u it wouldn't work." It's one thing not to lose and to be in a stall...but how can I gain?! -

gastricsleever replied to honeyg317's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
See that's how it was my first week, then I lost. A lb a day for the first 4 days of my second week and that was all I lost for te week. I decided to get rid of my scale and only weigh myself at my moms house once a week bc I was becoming so obsessive weighing every morning and night... I guess I will just wait and see what I weigh on Monday! Nothing else I can do lol -

3 weeks out...struggling!
gastricsleever replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
. Yep I totally feel your pain! I think it does get easier once u can eat purées and soft foods. Yesterday I got in 72 grams!!! That's the best I've done in weeks! But then I only got in 4 cups or Water :/ it's a trade off I can't seem to do both! Water or protein. When I was on full liquids I had no problems with constipation or diarrhea. Now I'm totally constipated. Emailed my dr to see what to take bc I feel lousy today from it!! -
3 weeks out...struggling!
gastricsleever replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling good 3.5 wks out but still not allowed to exercise, ride my bike, run, or do any lifting for another 2.5 weeks. I've been very careful to follow that bc although I feel healed on the outside, I know my body on the inside is still healing. What did ur dr recommend? -

Did/do you have constipation issues? I emailed the OCC for recommendations on what to take but haven't heard back yet. -

So I know when u increase protein it can create constipation issues, especially if not getting in enough water. I got in 62 grams of protein today and so far only 3 cups of water :/ I can't seem to hit both my protein and water goals for the day! (I'm 3.5 wks out) Solutions/ recommendations?!? -

I have the same problem. I was able to tolerate them pre-op but now, just the smell of them makes me nauseated.
