Good to know! I'm curious, I haven't had my surgery yet but sometimes when I take my vitamins I feel kinda nauseous. Does this happen to anyone after the sleeve? How do u take all those vitamins when eating so little? -

I thought that gummy candy and vitamins weren't good after the sleeve because they absorb water and therefore will expand in your new lil stomach... -
How many months, weeks, days left Til your VSG surgery?

120 days! My surgery is with dr Ortiz jn Mexico in February . Seems far away but I know the time will fly by thru the holidays. Wish it was sooner but I'm still saving up the rest of my money. -
Worried about enjoying food after surgery? Don't be.
gastricsleever replied to gamergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this post! My surgery is scheduled for after the holidays in February, mostly because I'm saving money still (self pay) but also because part of me was worried that I wouldn't enjoy food after this so I wanted to make sure I enjoyed the holidays this year. Silly, I know but it did cross my mind. -
I'm just outside of Philly as well, in glenside. Getting sleeved in Mexico in February.

Barb, I got my info about the diet to follow post-op, but didn't read anything about the vitamins. What vitamins are you supposed to take daily? And how much water daily? -

I considered it before (last year)and then dropped the subject. Finally, I am considering it again and now I have my day scheduled. I think before I was considering it because my dr recommended it and other people recommended it. I hadn't accepted the idea and wasn't ready yet. Only when I decided to do it for me did I realize I was ready. I would say, consider who u r doing it for or why u r doing it. Not sure if that makes sense? -
Best surgeon in Mexico for a reasonable price? Ignore my previous post, i hit post too early
gastricsleever replied to Jenny12's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Ortiz with OCC- I have read nothing but excellent things about him and his facility- $6500 not including airfare, including 3 nights in the Marriott. I have been researching this extensively since February and decided on Dr Ortiz. Any time I had questions, they responded to me right away when I called or emAiled. -

Will you lie about the surgery?
gastricsleever replied to BigD35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my concern about the whole thing is that people have their stereo typical reaction… like oh you're overweight , You don't take care of yourself, you don't eat right or exercise… Which is definitely not the case for me! I have worked very hard at trying to lose weight but it just hasn't happened… And so for me, telling people that I am having the surgery, I feel like they will say "you are taking the easy way out" . It is anything but the easy way out, weight-loss surgery is only at tool to help you get to where you need to be and it is definitely not a quick fix. So will I tell more people after the surgery? Maybe… But for now I think I will keep it to myself... I also have this concern the back my head that maybe the surgery won't work for me which I'm sure many other people I've had this concern too so until I see results I really don't want to tell other people. -

I told my 4 closest friends and that's it. One friend is going to be my support buddy on my trip. I'm actually going to Mexico to have my surgery done. I just set the date in February! I am telling my family that I'm going on a trip to California. For work, I'm telling my boss and HR only- two very trustworthy people- what I'm actually doing. And at this point idk if I will tell my coworkers that I am going out on medical leave for 2 weeks or if I will tell them I am going on vacation.... -
Pennsylvania sleevers?
gastricsleever replied to thisisforme2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, that's awesome! I'm jealous - I went to Abington for the pre-work up stuff and found out my insurance doesn't cover "anything related to obesity"...they actually have an exclusion clause for it! SO ridiculous! Needless to say, I would have to pay for it by myself. I relaly wanted to go to ABington because I just moved to Glenside, but it costs $14,000-17,000 out of pocket there No way I could ever afford that. So I've been saving my money, and I will be going to Mexico to have the surgery and it's$6500 out of pocket. Quite a difference! But I will be going to Abington for all my follow up appointments and such. Best of luck, can't wait to hear about your progress! -

Hoosier, can I ask u, so u have to deal with hair loss? I'm reading online that people dealt with that between 4-6 months after the surgery. Just wondering if there's something I can do now, like maybe start taking extra vitamins or a supplement before my surgery?
