    feeling down

I know its frustrating having to wait for the surgery, but be glad they found it. I'm an Endoscopy nurse and a recent sleeve patient. What meds do they have you on? The ulcers will clear up with proper antibiotics and prescription strenth ppi's. If left untreated they could cause pre-cancerous cells leading to cancerous cells over time if undetected. It was a blessing you decided to have this surgery. Also after your sleeve when you have only 15-20% of your stomach left, most of the areas that are ulcer prone will be removed so reoccurence of the ulcers are unlikely. Look at this as a good thing. It could be worse my husband went in to be sleeved 2 weeks ago and when preping for the surgery they found a heart arrythmia on his EKG. He was soooo dissapointed. Again we are so lucky he decided to have the surgery because we had no idea. Now he is getting treatment, under control, and will be sleeved in one month.
  2. If it makes you feel any better I'm about in the same boat. We have the same surgery date. I lost 13 the first week, 8 the second week, and now in week 5 I'm only down 3 more for a total of 24. So I've only lost a lb a week for the last three weeks. I keep calories under 800 and exercise 5 times a week. I feel the same way but I know the scale has to start moving if I keep this up and keep up my water and protien intake. My friends are sick of my worrying, but you cant help it. One of my friends who had the sleeve in Dec. says I just have to trust my sleeve. I am going to stop worrying about failing because I am determined I won't. I'm willing to put the work in so it WILL get done!
  3. Sleeved on 04/29. I am very unhappy because in the last 3 weeks I have only lost 4 lbs. I track calories and never go over 700 per day, all from lean protien and vegtables. Sometimes I have a yasso frozen greek yogurt for a treat but never more than one per day. I usually get all the water in, and have been increasing my workouts to 5 per week. Love C25K! Whats up? How can I work so hard at this and the scale is not moving. A friend of mine was sleeved 02/14 and has already lost 70 lbs, she was about the same size I was starting. She does not exercise, count calories, or even worry about how much protien she gets in. She has 2 protien shakes (12g protien ea) per day and eats a small dinner. Her Dr. never emphasized the protien as much as mine. Maybe I should just relax and not try to stay so on top of it and trust the sleeve will do the job.
  4. Thanks for all the words of encouragment. I decided last night I was going to stop worrying, and continue to do what my NUT and physician instructed. At least when I loose it all I will be lean and muscular from all the exercise. I keep reminding myself I am making life changes not just trying to drop fast.

    discouraged and depressed

You are feeling exactly like I am. I was sleeved on April 29th and in the first 2 weeks I lost 18 lbs. At five weeks out I have lost 8 more for a total of 26 lbs. I wanted 30 gone by this time. I am eating 600-700 calories per day, and usually get all protien and water in. I started walking for 30 min a day as soon as my drain was pulled, and was up to 2.3 mi in 30 minutes yesterday (I'm so out of shape so I am proud of that). I just don't understand how with the exercise and such little calories the scale isn' t moving anymore.
  8. Sleeve date was 04/29 and my weight was 256. I have lost 20 lbs, but none in the past week and a half. Im getting no more that 700 calories a day, and am getting all my liquids in. I exercise just about every day. Any suggestions? I just expected to loose a little more than this in 5 weeks.
  9. I did horrible on my pre op diet. Everyday I would try but its almost like your a drug addict, but the drug is all around you all of the time. I did better on my 4 day pre op liquid diet. On the 4 days I did liquid all day but a 4-6 oz baked mahi fish fillet at night. My surgery went OK and am 25 lbs down in 4 weeks.

Am I losing enough? Should I decrease calories?

Yes I have no doubt I would still be wallowing in misery if I hadn't intervened. I am so much happier now,and with the 23 lbs gone I can't believe how much energy I have. You just hear that the bulk of your weight loss will happen in the first six months, and you'll never loose as much as you did the first month so I'm a little dissapointed.

    my situation. ....

I really think it is important to be open and unashamed about having bariatric surgery. You are doing this for your health and peace of mind. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm sure your like most of us who have tried everything to get the weight off on their own. We are unlucky we live in a day and age where food is everywhere, so easy to obtain, and so easy to use as a crutch. We are however lucky to live in an age where there are options such as this to turn to. You dont have to blab your business to everyone, but if they ask tell them, she won't have anything to talk about anymore.
