Getting Tempted
christieouchley replied to christieouchley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow thats very reassuring from someone who has lost 98 lbs. Im guessing your a little ways out from your surgery and you trust your sleeve now. Im trying to learn to. -

So...tell me about dilation!
christieouchley replied to LipstickLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im an endoscopy Rn, and dialation should help you. The physician will use a bougie like the one used to do your sleeve but will probably go one size bigger to dialate your opening from your esophogus into your stomach so your food wont get so hung up and you will be more comfortable. It will not effect the size of your sleeve just your esophogus and your opening into your stomach. Quick and easy, takes less than a minute to do. Good luck. -
My stall lasted from week 3-6, and in week 7 I dropped 5 lbs.

Five days post-op & STARVING
christieouchley replied to amp122076's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont listen to all the preachy, holier than thou, people criticizing how you are feeling. You were alot like me, but when I found some good protien shakes that I liked it really did get alot easer. I like unjury chocolate splendor, vanilla with a tsp of instant coffee added. If you can stand skim milk it will add extra protien, if not use unsweetened almond milk. The body by vi shakes have some good recipies also like the butterfinger shake, or the almond cherry. I think theres an ap for those recipies. The unjury chicken soup is pretty good. When I got my protien up I stopped being hungry. -
Sleeved april 8th
christieouchley replied to Bmordan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on April 29th, and have lost 35 lbs. Id say your about on track. I had a stall and did not loose a lb week 3-6. I picked up again on week 7 and have lost 9 lbs in the past week. Cals under 800 per day, and exercising 4 times a week. I say your doing about average. It is hard to see the people on here loosing a pound a day still, and not compare yourself. My guess is your not having much trouble with foods, not throwing up alot, and having an easy time (except anxiety over not loosing weight). -
Im addicted to weighing "/
christieouchley replied to amytug's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Glad Im not the only one! I'm 8 weeks out now and realizing the amazingly fast weight loss is over and I can expect 2-3 lbs a week now. I stalled for a few weeks not loosing a single lb, and just had to weigh myself everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I'm getting over it now, and stepping on every other day or so. Its funny because when I was heavier I avoided the scales. -
i am such a hypocrite!
christieouchley replied to kchristian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us didnt love ourselves before the surgery gave us the will to. I thought it would be harder to cook for my family than it is. I made gumbo yesterday and I wasnt even tempted, I ate my stir fry instead. Today we all had blackened catfish (cooked healthfully and low fat), and they ate it along with me. I think in many instances we are all eating healthier, but I still make them some of their faves. -
Popcorn is one of my weaknesses too. Fortunately I am a popcorn snob and really only like the movie popcorn or when I pop my own in a pot. My kids don't mind the microwave stuff so thats what I keep in the house. However when I take them to the movies (like when we go see Monsters Inc today), how can you possibly resist that smell? My solution is to buy the junior bag at cinemark, my fitness pal says without butter is 190 calories per bag. I eat one kernel at a time, protien shakes the rest of the day, and a mahi fillet for extra protien at dinner. When I treat myself I plan the rest of the day well. I love the fact that I am so concious, and present about what I am eating now. Its ok for a treat from time to time, as long as its not a regular thing.

April 2013 Sleevers- Progress check-in
christieouchley replied to Houston17's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Sleeved on 4/29 lost 32 lbs so far. Feeling 100% better, 100% happier, and somewhat impatient. I really would have like to lost 40lbs by my 8 week mark but will probably fall a little short of that goal, I weigh in tomorrow. SW 258, current weight 226. I stalled out comletely week 3-6 and increased my calories for a couple of days and boom lost 5 lbs in 3 days. Back down to 700 calories per day so we will see tomorrow. Ive been working out at the gym a couple of times per week but need to increase that to at least 4. Thinking about hiring a trainer to help with the unknown world of weight training. -
Where do you get the syntrax at, that sounds good.
-
I love unjury Chocolate Splendor. I also like Body by Vi with sugar free butterscotch and peanut butter= butterfinger flavor.
-
I have went down a cup size and 5 band sizes since my surgery 5/29. My husband actually asked me if I could stop losing it in my boobs, and try to work out other parts of my body. Like I have a choice where I loose it, Im just grateful to loose, MEN!!!!

2 months Out&Standing Still
christieouchley replied to TiASleeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very good advice. Before my surgery I was so grateful to be starting a new way of life and to be free of the scale, and worry. I was stalled for 3-4 weeks and worried the whole time. The scale is moving again and I lost 3 lbs in the last 4 days. Yes overall I would have expected to loose more by now, but I am so much happier 31 lbs down in 7 weeks. Im doing so much more with my kids and my life and I would do it all over again. -
Sleeved May 30 2013, can eat anything! Uh oh
christieouchley replied to eburns's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I could eat just about anything 3-4 weeks out. My surgeon really wasn't that strict, he said if I was ready I would know it. Sometimes I wish I was like these other people who have different foods off limits to them, it would make things easier. Everyday is a work in progress. -
Ive noticed the same thing sometimes and I am only 7 weeks out. It seems the more moist the food is the more I can eat. Other days I'm good to get a 1/2 cup of anything in.

christieouchley replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

may sleevers....a month out...how r u doing?
christieouchley replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you! I am doing the same thing. I am 7 weeks out and down. I have been in a stall for 4 weeks. Somewhere in the four weeks a couple of lbs dropped, but no more. Im getting my protien in and keeping calories under 700 a day. It is very frustrating, "did I do all this for nothing", "I hope I havent wasted $13,000 of my families money. A friend of mine had the sleeve done in Feb. She isnt nearly as strict about what she eats as I, does not work out 4 times a week like I do, and shes lost 77 lbs and started about the same weight as I did. I trying to relax a little cause freaking out isnt going to help. -
Almost 2 months post op and I feel great!
christieouchley replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved reading your quote. I was exactly your weight, height, and have lost almost exactly what you have. I was getting impatient about the weight loss seeing how most of my weight was lost in the first 2 weeks, and then really slowed down after that. All in all its pretty awesome though. After putting things into perspective I would have never been able to do this on my own. Just the way I feel now with nearly 30 lbs gone is amazing! I am doing so much stuff with my kids I would have never done before. Not to mention working out, and not constantly thinking about food. -
4 weeks out/ no desire to eat

Bad Habits Creeping Back Up WAY to soon! PCOS
christieouchley replied to Lia M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found myself in week 3-5 going back to old "comfortable behaviors". I never have been able to control myself around food, so when I started doing this it really scared me. I thought, there may be no hope for me and I think I might have to face the fact I will be heavy the rest of my life. To me the problem is not necessarily the weight it is how the weight makes me feel. I felt embarrased, ashamed, too big to do so many activities with my kids (this bothered me the most). So somewhere in week 5's self pity festival I was throwing myself, I said enough. I went through the cabinets and got rid of every carb there was. I have four kids and they were very upset by this but they will have to get over it and support me for a while. I started working out HARD. I joined a gym, C25K, started myfitnesspal.com track every calorie, all calories come from protien, protien shakes, and a few veggies. I quit playing around, this is about making habits that will last for the rest of my life. If I really want a sweet I have a sugar free candy. I feel AMAZING! For the first time in my life I am really taking good care of myself and I love it. Your worth the effort you know. -
Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
christieouchley replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
I just started week 2 today and it is crazy how easy it is getting. I thought I would die day 1 and even had to skip one running segment, second day got better, and I was starting to love it day 3. After I was done today I went and got on the eliptical just for kicks. I cant believe I am talking about myself. It's amazing what 30 lbs gone will do for you!!! -
Change in strategy. What strategy works best for you?
christieouchley commented on zempress's blog entry in zempress' Blog
I've been asking myself these same questions lately. I had surgery on April 29th and Im down 28 lbs. I was hoping to be doing a little better. I log every calorie, and max out my calories about 600-700 per day and exercise 30-60 min. per day. I have a friend who is losing much more than me, not counting any calories, just drinking her protien shakes throught the day and eating a small dinner at night. She has lost 70 lbs in 4 months. Im really thinking of just giving up food and going her route. -
This is the most encouraging news I've heard in a while. I lost great for 2 weeks and then only 1/2 lb a week for the past 3 weeks. Im keeping calories under 700 day and getting all my protien and water in. Thanks for the encouragement it just makes me more determined to stay the course! 7 months with not stall sounds great!

Does anyone feel like they have lost too much weight?
christieouchley commented on Thickhawk's blog entry in Thickhawk's Blog
NEVER, but if I was going to want to gain weight I would start drinking milkshakes, really good ones!
