christieouchley replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
SW 256 Surgery date April 29 CW173 83lb lost. The weight has been coming off super slow over the past few months. 8lb to go until goal weight. Cravings are back. I have to keep myself busy so not to focus on them. Ill make it eventually. -
Im an endoscopy nurse and I do think it could be a fecal compaction. Sometimes when we have a fixed compaction you actually have runny diarrhea around the impaction. My guess is that you have been on some pain meds post surgery, which led to the impaction. Because you have a fainting reflex followed by the urge defecate sounds like a vagal reaction, also caused by impaction. You need IV fluids simply because its been more than 24 hours since any significant fluid intake. Your insurance should cover the charges simply due to dehyration, even if its not impaction causing the problem, my guess they will scope you while your their anyway.

Any April Sleevers?
christieouchley replied to Princess_Esty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
4/29 No preop diet, SW-258, CW196. While I am thrilled to have lost 62 lb I really do wish it would be a little more. My goal is 80 lb by seven months out and the rest is cake! I am thrilled to have a BMI of 29 now, the first time in a very long time not to be in the obese category. Im getting in 1000 cals a day, every now and then I go over, usually on Sundays when I cook for my family all day. Im starting to want some sweets again, although now I am much more sucessfull at fighting off temptaion. Averaging around 2 lb per week now. -

Gained after starting a new routine!
christieouchley replied to dexter's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I actually stopped working out with weights a few weeks ago because the weight was coming off so slowly. The loss has picked up again. It is because you are building so much muscle. I am also able to contain my calories much better without using weights, and am not so exhausted all day after my workout. I am sticking strictly to cardio now and will focus on weight training a little closer to goal. I know with my common sense mind the weight training is a good thing and I should keep it up for best results in the long run. However when you have struggled with weight for so long, you really just want to see those numbers drop. I feel as long as I stay committed to cardio I am good. -
I love Spark by Advocare (fruit punch flavor, yum). Each 8 oz drink has 750% of your B12 and B6, with amino acids to help with focus power. It definately works. I feel an energy rush immediately and lasts a long time. You can have up to 2 per day. I usually just need one about 2 o'clock, along with a good cup of coffee about 8am and I am set. I have friends who have replaced their morning with coffee, I just cant do it. It would be perfect for those still in the healing stage.

Still Losing
christieouchley replied to MommyofFive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You dont seem to have started with a very high BMI, so its not surprising your not loosing like someone starting at 300-400 lb would. A friend of mine was sleeved 9 months ago and she started out at 402 lbs and now is 270 but is slowing way down on her loss while maintaing same calorie count. The lower the BMI the slower it will come off, but it will! -
How are the April sleevers?
christieouchley replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We were same height and weight at surgery, and we have both lost similar weight! Sometimes I think I'm loosing too slow, but know I could have never got this far on my own. The surgery is the best thing I've done. SW 256 CW 203! How could I really complain about that? I try not to go over 1000 calories/day, if a do its only a few. Usually work out at gym and with a trainer 3X week. -

Im with ya! SW 256, CW 204, I want to loose 5 lb to get me to onederland by my birthday Sept. 12th. As slow as Ive been loosing it might not happen, but Im doing everything I can to make it happen.. -
I too find it difficult to tell when I am full. I first get a feeling of not being hungry after just a couple of bites, but I know I need to eat at least a few more to get any calories in at all. Then theres the issue that certain foods fill me up before others, I am getting better and better about knowing when to stop though.

protein and carbs after sleeve
christieouchley replied to honib52's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was stuck and loosing slowly until I started eating every 3 hours. 6 weeks ago I really stalled out but it was because I was still only getting in 800-1000 calories a day but I was getting it all in by grazing all day. The weight started dropping off again when I started letting myself get hungry by only eating every 3-4 hours. Ill start the day with a protien shake (unjury), then 3 hours later Ill have 3 oz of chick breast with maybe a roasted red pepper or zucchini, then three hours later Ill have a protien shake, 3 hours later I had a 5 sauteed shrimp with 1 cup of watermelon, and the last thing I will have today is another shake. After my last shake tonight Ill have in 92g of protien 49 carbs and 930 calories. 47% of the day came from protien. When I got back to doing like this a few weeks ago, I started dropping 4 lb a week again. Dont get me wrong I'm not perfectly alligned every day, a few days ago I carbed all day and felt HORRIBLE, not guilty I just felt bad. Could not wait to get back to my new self the next day, and I felt so much better. -
My old self came out yesterday
christieouchley posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having head hunger all day yesterday. About noon I gave up the fight and told myself to just do what you want to the rest of the day, and get it out of your system. The result of that decision was by 5 or 6 I was tired, grumpy, no energy, and sitting on the sofa eating goldfish ( I dont even really love goldfish, I mean theyre OK, but I dont love them). The old me really came out yesterday, and I did not like it! My 12 year old said, "Mom whats wrong with you"? Yes, a 12 year old noticed the mood change due to food before I did. It reminded me how good I am at ignoring myself. One good thing did come out of yesterday though, I got a glimpse of my past, and without a doubt can say "I WILL NOT GO BACK". I can't believe I used to be that miserable most of the time. I homeschool my 4 kids, and I don't think I have adjusted well to the schedule changes we have instituted in the past couple of weeks. Did I mention in the past couple of weeks I have only went to the gym once or twice a week? So, today is a new day. Ive got a great eating plan for today. I am going shopping later so I can be prepared for myself, because the last time I shopped I really think I had my family in mind and not myself. Lastly, I will go to the gym today and WORK! I'm looking forward to today and reaquainting myself with the new me! -

christieouchley replied to christieouchley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember about 4 weeks out when I was allowed to eat a little more I went crazy for a couple of days. Then reeled it in got back to basics (3 shakes a day sensible dinner) and then proceeded to loose 35 lb over the next 2 months. It just goes to show we can all fall off the wagon, its whether or not you get back on track that matters. My slippery slope seems to be a giant drop off cliff! -
Is it normal for weight loss to slow after several months?
christieouchley replied to Shoota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is true, but makes me second guess my choices. I tell myself if these are true life changes I've made I should be ok with what I loose or don't. I find it difficult to get out of the mindset of diet successfully-quick results. I want to be free, and happily submit to the restriction of my sleeve and not carry this burden of worrying about failing anymore.
