  1. Went for my 6 week post op yesterday. Down 16lbs from my 2 week post op check up and down 36lbs in the 6 weeks since surgery. My Dr said I'm losing at a bypass level and he is pleasantly surprised at my progress so far. Wasn't sure if I should of been offended by that so I asked. He said no offense but in his experience people that started out at my size usually don't take to the new program and diet as well and as quick as I have. Feeling great. I did have a question that I had to ask because I find myself able to eat more than I thought I would be able to. Not like a lot but I can consistently eat about a cup of food at a time mind you it's still the soft mushy food but it worried me being able to eat so much so soon. He said not to worry that everybody can eat different amounts that once I progress to solids that that's when I'll really see the difference. I'm so happy I decided to do this it has already changed my life in so many ways. Heaviest weight. 485lbs. December 16, 2012 Surgery weight. 436lbs. May 31, 2013 Current weight. 400lbs Goal for 3 month check up. 385lbs -August 24, 2013 Goal weight. ???
  2. I guess everybody has good and bad days I've had mostly good days thank god. I'm down 23 since surgery on the 31st so all in all I'm feeling really good.
  3. It happened to me once in the grocery store the child was around 6-8 not sure but he said it and the parent actually said I know. So I tripped the kid when he started running around then told the parent my fat leg must of got in the way and walked off then stopped turned back and said or maybe I did it on purpose because I'm just that much of an a*****e. Teach your kid some respect. I wouldn't advise that course if action but I'm naturally an a*****e so I didn't really care.
  4. Anybody find that they can eat a little more than they thought. I read about people only being able to eat 2oz-4oz and I find a can eat about a little less than a cup before I feel full. I was sleeved May 31st. I know everyone's pouch is different but please tell me it's not just me and I'm not doing anything wrong here.
  5. Ok that cools my mind a bit I read about people only getting 2-4 oz and i starting wondering if I screwed something up.

    Diet soda

Different people have different opinions. Personally I'm one that believes everything is ok in moderation. But I would wait until you a while out. I was told at least 6 weeks but preferably never. I'm going to give it 3 months and see how it goes. If it doesn't effect me one or two sodas in a week won't undue all progress made. Bottom line in moderation it won't kill you just be sure in moderation.
  7. At 12 days out I lost 20lbs. Haven't weighed in since then. Everyone loses different and no answer is "normal"

    Stopping Pain Meds?

I stopped the second I got home from hospital the day after surgery. Although I wouldn't recommend this process. Due to some personal demons I've had in the past I chose not to take the pain meds my advice is if you can't handle the pain skip a dose and try to ween off like that.

    8th day of post op

Normally your surgeon will tell you but everyone plan is different. Today I got cleared for cream soups and mushy/puréed/very soft food but with low calorie limit he said preferably less than 500 until my 6 week check up. I'm 11 days out by the way.
  10. Just got back from my 1st post op appointment im down 20 pounds since surgery on 5/31/2013 I'm excited because I haven't felt like I'm losing but obviously I am. Plus get to advance to mushy foods so that's another plus. Heavy weight 12/14/2012 485 Surgery weight 5/31/2013 436 Today's weight 6/12/2013 416
  11. I'm glad I could help. With me I just felt I had nothing to be ashamed of no reason to hide. I know I did what I had to for my health. For those that choose to hide that's there decision and I respect that but that wasn't for me.

    Meds :(

I take 100 mg of Zoloft a day and my personal psych said that it would be ok to crush them and mix it with a small amount of liquid such as 2-3 oz or a large medicine cup that way it is the same as taking the pills at once. I was very worried about this pre-op and almost didn't go thru with the sleeve until I got the ok to do this.
  13. I made the decision very early that I wasn't going to keep it a secret and have told a lot of people even posted updates on Facebook, but I'm a different type of person. I could really care less what anybody else thinks. However I do understand that some people don't want people knowing there business. If I were to be keeping a secret I would probably explain the surgery as an intestinal problem and the following small eating as result of those issues. I hope this helps a bit or gives you an idea at least good luck on your journey.
  14. Holy crap this stuff is awesome. I'm one week post op and counting the 2 week liquid diet before surgery I haven't had anything solid in 3 weeks. Long story short until today I've only been drinking (refuse to say eating because its not eating) chicken broth sugar free Jello and popscicles plus my protein(which by the way suck so much ass when mixed with water) today just to try something different I picked up a can of Campbell's Beef Consume warmed it up and put it in my drinking bottle and holy crap it has so much flavor I can't believe I didn't try this sooner or know how great it is. Also I haven't felt Hungry at all since the day before surgery and the smell of food actually makes me nauseous so I really don't miss food at all. Don't get me wrong cant wait to progress to full liquids and puree but having no problem with just liquids.

When will I learn how to eat?

I'm still on clear liquids but my nurse in the hospital and the surgical tech doing my operation actually said they bought baby utensils. They said the size is perfect and helps you take perfect size bites. That's what I'm going to do.
  16. Ok maybe I'm just being impatient but I just want to compare pain post surgery. I'm 6 days out and the large incision still hurts quite a bit. It feels like I've been hit in the stomach with a baseball bat. Is that normal. It's not a constant pain it only hurts if I'm walking standing or trying to stand or trying to sit. It just feels like the whole area is bruised. I haven't taken pain meds since Monday due to my own personal demons and some family demons with pain medication. I'm almost sure that's why I feel so much pain but I'm just trying to see if its normal. If that can even really be answered.
  17. Hello Diana how are you today. The pain is starting to settle a bit still have sharp pains when I stretch the main incision area so that sucks. I got acid reflux bad so I'm a bit uncomfortable but nothing that can't be handled. The incision marks are getting itchy so that really blows but I guess that is a sign of it healing. My biggest complaint is I'm so tired of sugar free Popsicles and jello the broth just doesn't sit right takes to long to drink and gets really cold. Can't wait till Wednesday to see my surgeon for 2 week post op check and get cleared for full liquids, puréed and some soft foods. Hope things are working out fine for you and take care.
  18. How are y'all doing today. I find myself in less pain but still very weak. Having a hard time getting down all the fluids only hitting around 30oz goal is 64 so still got some work to do but other than that feeling good with no real regrets. Hope y'all are well today
  19. I leave for the hospital in 7 hours so excited not nervous just ready
  20. Feeling alot better today still very sleepy and weak but not as in much pain and able to move around better. Having a bit of a hard time getting in enough liquids some sips go down better than others but I'm making progress. Just got to go one day at a time
