I am from Brookfield, IL . My husband was born in Ft. Collins Colorado. Still haven't been to visit he has been wanting to for year. Maybe next year we will. You aren't being affected by the fires are you? My prayers go out to all that are. Good Luck with your surgery. I hope this time is the final time for you.

I have been stuck at 300 lbs since the 7th of June and I am so frustrated. I have been walking alot and even went for a bike ride over the weekend. I know I had my period last week but come on!!! My official weigh in date is Friday morning so we shall see then. I have never wanted to see 299 so bad in my life. I do feel a difference in my clothes they feel looser so I am using that as my motivator right now. I have been walking and tracking my food religiously and according to my tracker I should be down 2 lbs by now but thats ok I will just be patient. Testing is already beginning cause I hear there are some stalls along the way with this journey after surgery too. 34 more days to go until my surgery and I am so Excited!!!! the past 20 days have flown by so I am hoping it continues to do so. I have two parties the weekend after my surgery and I am hoping I will feel up to making an appearance. I won't push myself too hard though. the most important one is my grandma's 85th birthday party.

That is so nice to have someone to do this with. I start my preop on the 10th of July, I am more nervous about that then the actual operation. Good luck to you too!!!

I also have Anthem BCBS I started out 318 lbs 5'3 and I have severe sleep apnea no other comorbidies besides bad knees and hips. I started my journey in Dec and now weigh 300 . I could have had my surgery in June but had already planned my vacation and my husbands in July . It was honestly much easier then I thought it would be and they are great!

July 22nd for me too! So excited and anxious for that day! When do you start your pre-op diet?

I have struggled all my life with my weight. I was the chubby kid, the porkly pre-teen, the fat teenager and now I am a morbidly obese adult. Yikes that was a very strong sentence. Yes I had 3 yrs of my early adult life that I was just chubby which is only because I am short (5'3) and was actually happy with my weight and would enjoy shopping and looking nice but it was a short lived 3 yrs. I fell down a hill one evening and tore my ACL in my knee and had to have surgery. I ended up being in a cast from my hip to my ankle for 9 weeks. I wasn't able to do anything and started gaining weight. I went from 140 to 180 by the time the 9 weeks ended and felt sick. I had bills that had piled up due to not being able to work and got extremely stressed out with that. And by the time it was over I had to quit my current job because I couldn't stand for more then 30 mins at a time and get a desk job. You can only imagine what occured after that. My butt widened and my jean size kept going up. During this time I also met the man of my dreams and was happy, he moved in with me after 6months and we got engaged after 9months. I was too embarassed to work out in front of him and started going out all the time eating at fancy restaurants and seeing movies. He wasn't an active person never worked out and ate what ever he wanted, he was also 6'3 so he hid his weight well. Unfortunately his mother was a great baker too and made awesome desserts that melted in my mouth way too easily. By the time we got married 3 yrs later I was up to 230 and getting married in a size 22 dress. In the years following we started a family and had two beautiful girls. Of course through each pregnancy I held onto at least 20 lbs of my pregnancy weight. I had bad post-pardon depression after my second daughter and started eating late at night eating my way to 320 lbs ! I have attempted pretty much every diet known to man and some I succeeded with and some I didn't. I have spent tons of money on food delivery services and programs. Now age 34 I have decided to take the plunge and have Weight Loss Surgery- Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I have been working really hard the past 6 months to re-program my thoughts and feel I am prepared for this. I started the actual journey on 12/10/2012 at 318 pounds. I have lost 18 as of today. I have been taking it slowly only because I have arthritis in my feet and my knee can't handle this weight and now my hip pops in and out of place at least once a week now. My surgery is on July 22nd and I am beyond excited , nervous and anxious. I am ready to become that healthy and happy woman, mother and wife that my family and I deserve to experience. I want to be a good role model to my kids and reverse the damage I have already caused with them. I want to teach them good food choices and be active with them so we can enjoy our lives!!!

Week 1 on my high protein low carb eating plan and exercising 6 days a week. I had been having really bad issues with being extremely hungry at night so I told myself this past week i was going to work on kicking that to the curb. I ate dinner a little later one night that worked, I took a 1/2 protein shot one night and that worked and then I cleaned a few nights and kept myself busy by doing my nails and that also worked. All week I didn't snack or eat crazy stuff after the girls went down. So problem being worked on and I think solved. Thank you to all who responded to my post on the forum your suggestions and comments helped ALOT. Now also my weekends are horrible my husband is home wants to go out to eat all weekend and weekends sabotage my hardwork from the week so this weekend If we went out I really thought hard about what I was ordering and tried to order healthy all the time. We ate out 3 x's first time was Wendy's so I got a grilled chicken wrap and side salad, 2nd was Chili's and I got a low calorie meal and replaced my rice with brocolli so I had chicken , black beans and Broccoli, the 3rd time was the hardest - Popeyes- I took the skin off the chicken and heated up my left over black beans from the previous night. I did have a biscuit but I made sure to work out after dinner so I could burn some calories. All in all it was the BEST weekend I have had so far!!!! I even made cinnamon buns for my girls on Saturday morning and didn't have any. I figure I am going to have to cook stuff I can't have and what a better time to start working on controlling myself from eating it but now. So all my hardwork paid off and I was down 5.2 lbs this morning. I was so excited to see it working and I also feel great, more energized and alive. I can always start doing the healthy things but some where down the line i always fall off and gain it all back. This time knowing my Sleeve is just around the corner 42 days to be exact to stop that from happening has me smiling , I can see myself healthy again!!! Can't wait.

Thanks. I have a funny feeling the girls will be changing there eating as well during all this. It seems like my oldest daughter has been trying a lot of new things that I eat. I have to put my foot down more when it comes to fixing my kids there meals and that is definately going to be something i will be working on in the future. And Kulit I just heard about the protein shots the other day. I already bought them and I am going to check the labels. Thank you for that.

Fortunately I've been lucky to have most of the people I've told be very supportive however my in-laws have been very negative and are constantly cringing any time I bring it up. It's rough because they are some one who I need help from with my girls and I just don't see them being there. I just don't discuss it with them anymore

Just found out 5 days after my surgery my uncle is throwing my grandma an 85th birthday party and I'm questioning if I will be ready for something like that so soon physically wise and if anyone has had this happen and how they got through it and handled it?
