medicaid while married?!?!?!
Michellemo replied to jaxmommy2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what state do you live in? Ups pays so little you qualify for Medicaid? Plus you have insurance? I should have have moved to your state before I had surgery. I'm self employed and was to heavy to qualify for insurance so I financed my surgery. Dang lucky you! -
medicaid while married?!?!?!
Michellemo replied to jaxmommy2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know in missouri a family of 2 can only have a income of like 250 a month. And if you already have insurance then no you can't have Medicaid. Plus I don't mean to be nasty but if you have insurance then you need to use that. It's doesn't sound fair that the tax payers in your state should pay for you to have surgery when you have insurance. Sorry to be so blunt. I hope your husband comes around and understands why this surgery is important to you. Good luck! -
You should have the surgery first. I guarantee she will also loose weight because you are going to be eating different and cooking different and that will have an affect on her. My son was not over weight before I had surgery but was a good healthy muscular 16 year old. He weighed 178. Since my surgery every time we go out to eat we share a meal and we still have food left on our plate! I cook way smaller amounts and don't keep junk food around and he has lost about 10 pounds. Now he looks even more muscular and he loves that. I'm not saying dont let her have surgery just do it first and let her see what it's all about. I was a over weight child so I know how hard it is. Good luck!

I told her that I liked the way my face looked! Everyone else's tells me how good I look and how much younger I look! Has anyone else had this happen?

Average loss with the sleeve is 60% of excess weight?!?!
Michellemo replied to Nicolanz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Does the excess weight percent mean what I should weigh to have normal bmi? I'm sure this is a silly thing for me to be asking. I'm not concerned with having a normal bmi I picked my goal weight because I feel for me it's a good realistic weight for me to be at. But for me to have a normal bmi I have already lost 87% of my excess weight after 10 months. I would need to weigh 145 to have lost 100% but I don't want to go below 160. -

The goal weight number
Michellemo replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor never talked about a goal weight. My psych dr asked me what my goal was and I said 190. I thought at the time that sounded good because I wanted to be realistic. He said that was good because some people are unrealistic and can't ever reach the goal the set. But when I started loosing weight I knew I could change my goal to 170. I've reached that and now I'm thinking 160 but if I stay at 170 then I'm still happy! -
