  1. Hi everyone, I'm scheduled for my revision from banded plication to sleeve on June 24, 2013. Getting nervous yet, excited! Good luck to all of us~ Jenn
  2. Hi, I haven't had my revision yet but I have had a revision of my port and then a revision of the entire band with plication. Each recovery was pretty much the same: nausea the day of surgery and abdominal pain but after that, pretty quick recovery - maybe a little sore and achey. I'm scheduled to revise to VSG in June so you'll know before me how band to sleeve revision goes Take care,
  3. Congrats!! I'm scheduled for revision in June. Glad to see your recovery was pretty smooth. Take care, Jenn

    real Food

For fast food I'd probably stick with El Pollo Loco or Jack in the Box. Jack has grilled chicken strips, even their kids meals have it. McD's also has grilled chicken salads. Most grocery stores have delis with rotisserie chicken and some even make wraps/sandwiches where you can choose meat, veg and bread if you want it. Of course there's always Subway and Quiznos - they both offer soup too. Good luck! Jenn

How long we're you out of work?

I am a teacher so I'm planning my band to sleeve revision during summer break so I'll have about 7 1/2 weeks off. I should be all healed and ready to go for the new school year, hopefully! Jenn
  9. I am looking into revising from a banded plication. I initially lost about 60 pounds but lost restriction about 6 months after the plication. I originally wanted to revise to a sleeve (from the band) but was nervous about the procedure and my previous doctor was not very supportive of me revising from the band to the sleeve at that time. I wish I would've researched more but plication was so new here in the U.S. at the time. Now I will be undergoing another procedure, but hopefully this will be my final WLS! Good luck to you! Jenn

    BORICUA..wepppaa

I had a lapband in 2001. I had port repair 2003, port replacement 2009 and finally, lapband with plication 2011. Obviously, I'm realllly hoping the sleeve will be my last WLS!!

Hi, No - I am revising from a banded plication so I have to have a bit more pre-op testing than others. Scheduled for June, 2013. This will be my 3rd weight loss surgery but I've had 5 surgeries related to the band...so hopefully, the sleeve will be my last WLS and then I can look forward to plastics!!! Jenn

    Plication?

My new doctor isn't sure. He knows from the endoscopy that my stomach wasn't sutured all the way down. He thinks this may have occurred because I was my other doctor's first patient and plication was fairly new here in the U.S. and there wasn't a standardized way to perform the plication at the time. I had good restriction for the first 6 months but after that my restriction lessened significantly. Supposedly, the plication is not the main surgery but the lapband is so people end up relying on the band and the band never worked great for me for a variety of reason. Anyway - I think it would be helpful to find people who've had the plication for at least 2+ years and see how they are progressing. I'm being way more cautious this time and doing a lot of research on the sleeve before I move forward with surgery. My band has to come out either way so that will happen for sure on June 24. Good luck to you in whatever you decided. Jenn

    Plication?

I thought I replied to this but can't find it... Anyway - I had a banded plication Feb, 2011 and I'm currently preparing to be revised to a sleeve in June, 2013. I had good restriction for about 6-9 months and then after that, my stomach returned to almost normal size Good luck to you! Jenn

    Plication?

I had a banded plication a little over 2 years ago and am currently scheduled to revise to a sleeve. I liked the plication early on but lost almost all of the restriction after about 6-9 months. Good luck to you! Jenn
  20. I've had 2 bands and a plication and I am scheduled for a lapband removal and sleeve all in one surgery in June. My current band has slipped also. Can't wait to be done with the band forever - I've been banded since Dec, 2001. Good luck to you! Jenn

    Any June sleevers yet?

I'm scheduled for a revision on June 24. I am a teacher so I have to wait till summer break. Happy to see others scheduled around the same time.
  22. I'm scheduled for revision from banded plication to sleeve in June and I still have a small amount of fluid in my band - probably about 2 c.c.s. Doctor seems unconcerned that there is fluid in there, however, my endoscopy showed a slip. My port is almost impossible to access so I'm going to keep the fluid in until my revision. Good luck to you. Jenn
  23. Hi everyone! I am currently looking into my 3rd WLS procedure. I was banded in Dec, 2001. Had a few problems with band tubing, port and had a hernia repaired over the years, which required more surgical procedures. I had 2 successful band babies but was on bed rest with our daughter for 5 months so I gained most of my weight back. Overall, I'd lost about 100 pounds with the band over about a 3 year time period before pregnancies & babies. I started looking into revision about 3 years ago and had seriously considered the sleeve but my doctor at the time had some strong reservations about me converting to the sleeve. I can not have the RNY due to anemia issues so I wasn't left with many options. I decided on revising to a banded plication. I was my doctor's very first plication patient. I did quite well in the first 6 months with the plication but slowly realized that my restriction was gone. In addition, I found out my band slipped (again) so I started looking into revising yet again. I switched surgeons and my new doctor seems very confident that I will be able to convert to a sleeve. I had an endoscopy a few weeks ago and my doctor saw that the plication was not done in the best way to maximize weight loss and that my band had slipped. I am awaiting final approval for the sleeve revision surgery and am scheduled for June 24, 2013. I am confident that the sleeve will work for me, if I work for it :-) My concern is an unusual one...I am a teacher but my husband and I also have a business designing and selling vintage style, retro clothing for plus-size men and women. Part of our business involves going to shows and selling our products in person. Because I am plus size, my customers understand why I have a passion for designing clothes for "us". If I am no longer plus-size, I am worried this will negatively effect our business and our clothing line...I prefer a curvy shape and I feel the most comfortable around a size 10-12 so I plan on continuing making and designing clothes since finding plus-size retro style clothing can be quite challenging. Anyway, this is something that is really concerning me...not sure if I should be as worried about it as I am but I guess it is something to consider. Sorry for being long and rambling...Thanks for reading ~ Jenn
