What is best TASTING Protein shake?

I LOVE the Syntrax Nectar brand. My favorite flavor is chocolate truffle. They're not at all chalky and the powder is so fine it dissolves in a hand shaker. You don't need a blender or anything. One scoop is 100 calories and 23 grams of protein and zero anything else.

    Why so cold?

Yes! I'm five days post-op and freezing. (I'm in Louisiana and trust me, it ain't cold.) I keep adjusting the thermostat and my husband is like, "FINALLY! Now you know how I feel!" Sorry, hubs!
  3. I was sleeved on the 16th also. Feeling great. How are you?

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

Thanks, I'm excited! I'm about 5'6, and eager for the weight to start coming off.

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

You look great! How tall are you? I was my heaviest at about 262, well with the exception of the day I delivered each of my babies at which time I was 287. I think it's amazing you've lost 42 pounds in 2.5 months. Wow! I was sleeved on 9/16 and weighed 238 on the morning of my surgery.
  6. I'm five days post-op and have woken up starving every morning since surgery! I was under some strange delusion that I wouldn't have an angry, growling tummy. What's strange is that, although hungry, I don't have the desire to really eat anything. Still on Clear liquids and achieving at least 60g protein/day with Isopure and unjury broth. Anyone else hungry this early on? What gives?

    Is it normal?

No, that part of your stomach is not "cut out," but it's been reported that those who've had the sleeve will no longer produce ghrelin, the hunger hormone. I believe that comes later. What I'm feeling is quite normal - or so I've read.

    Is it normal?

I'm taking Nexium daily, per my doctor's orders. I'm certain this is hunger! I mean, I was on a 2-day liquid diet pre-op, ate nothing day of surgery and have had about 200 cals per day since surgery. It's definitely hunger, but certainly manageable!
  9. I'm five days post-op and doing great. I bought several flavors of Isopure in advance of surgery to determine which I'd like best. So while I'm getting 60ish ounces of liquid a day as i sip, I'm intaking about 60 grams of protein per day this early on. I drink one bottle of Isopure per day (and it takes all day to finish a bottle); that's 40 grams. I have Unjury chicken broth (21 grams), and I put a scoop of Unjury unflavored protein powder (21 grams of protein again) into a can of beef broth and sip on that throughout the evening. I start it while the family is having dinner and usually finish it just before bedtime. I also love Blue Bell sugar-free bullets, Oceanspray diet cranberry and decaf, unsweetened ice tea. I sip all day and it keeps the hunger at bay. All the protein gives me tons of energy, which is great because I have a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old!

    can't wait!

My first appointment was May 8 and I was sleeved September 16. In retrospect, the time just flew by!
  11. Use unsweetened almond milk to mix your shakes. It's delicious, low calorie and lactose free. Just make sure you buy UNSWEETENED. My favorite brand is Blue Diamond; I've tried them all. Good luck!
  12. I wouldn't let the Protein shakes be a deal breaker at all. Go out and try several kinds. Syntrax nectar is, to me, by far the tastiest. I LOVE the chocolate truffle. It mixes wonderfully with unsweetened coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk. Isopure has gotten me through the clear liquid phase. I tried several flavors pre surgery to determine which ones I could stomach (pardon the pun). And as other posters have mentioned, the unjury chicken soup is the bomb dot com. It really just comes down to how bad you want this. The liquid phase is only temporary, and the way I see it, the end will certainly justify the means. Of course I'm talking all big and only day 4 post-op but I'm already feeling a bit thinner. True story!
  13. Well yesterday was the big day and I'm feeling great. No nausea and pain is at a minimum. My doctor attaches a pain ball directly to the stomach that constantly shoots pain medicine to the suture site. Best thing ever. I had a popsicle at 4am and have had a little chicken broth, Jello-O and water since. I took three walks yesterday and another three today. Every now and again I get a shooting has pain in my left shoulder, but walking and blowing into that oxygen thingy are helping that. I hope recovery continues to be this uneventful!

    Day 2 sleeved

I am in no pain and spent only one night in the hospital. I've been home since Tuesday at 1PM. I keep telling people that this surgery is easier than childbirth.
  15. My info was submitted on Thursday. Aetna approved me the following Monday. Signed my consent forms yesterday and got my surgery date of September 16 today! I'm 5'6 and weigh 240 pounds. How much can I expect to lose within the first 12 weeks? I think I'll be an average to fast loser. That's usually the case. I've never had trouble losing weight but I always have trouble keeping it off. This will be the third time I lose 80+ pounds since 1999, and I hope it's the last!!

    Date confirmed. Now what?

Surgery was yesterday and I'm doing great!

    Awake and Alive! :)

The vampires just came for me too!! It's so hard to rest in a hospital. I've been walking a lot. Feels good to walk. Helps with the gas pain. The heating pad on my shoulder is helping too. I want to try the Gas X strips but I haven't gotten the blessing from my doc yet

    Awake and Alive! :)

Shells, do you have a pain ball attached to you? I have one attached directly to my stomach so I'm feeling little to no pain. It's filled with pain meds that go to the sutures. It will come home with me and deflate in three days. Best. Invention. Ever.

    Awake and Alive! :)

I was also sleeved on 9/16! To me, the worst pain is in my upper left shoulder. It's gas pain and its a killer. At 4AM today I had a sugar free popsicle and that was the best darn popsicle I've ever eaten! I'm really hungry! I did full liquids Saturday, Clear Liquids Sunday and of course had nothing on day of surgery. Would love some broth. Best of luck to you in your recovery!
