Dr. Aceves, Mexicali, and Me!
Rox replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Amanda Rae, I will be in Mexicali, July 29th - Surgery on the 30th. Your post about Mexicali and surgery was one of the biggest reasons I feel good about having surgery down there. -

Starting my pre op liquid diet on Tuesday and I'm so scared!
Rox replied to allysonk2009's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Ally, you'll be fine. One thing people do when they just need to chew is every once in a while, take a bite of what is driving you nuts, chew it up and spit it out. sugar free Gum will help too. s -

82 pounds is outstanding - you do need to stop the negative voice in your head. As the other posters have said - see a therapist -
I can handle losing a little hair to get my health back, and take control again!!!

Protein bars- helpful or harmful?
Rox replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was looking at Protein bars yesterday, I was surprised at how many calories the high protein content ones were. I guess I would only eat these if I was in a desperate situation -
July 30th in Mexicali, Mexico - can't wait!!!

Seriously - I may excuse my Dr. for not knowing alot about this surgery. The office just changed over to EMR, he's one of the few General Practitioners in my area, and I have built a relationship with him. I told him I did all the research and felt that this surgery was the way to go. He agreed to take care of me after the surgery, or if anything went wrong. He then referred me to a NUT - so if I have any nutrition concerns, i'll have someone to ask. So I think I can forgive him for not knowing all the details.

Just as people look at me and think I am lazy and unhealthy - I know that I look at thin people with envy, and I bet a lot of them are lazy and unhealthy too. But still - the ex-daughter in law who kept a perfect house and grazed on bad food all day - I can't help but be a little hatee on her - she reminds me of the perfect Stepford Moms at my kids school!!

1 day 12 hours...of being fat
Rox replied to missyjoy2078's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What she said!! -
Sometimes just writing and letting others know of your trials can be cathartic. No one has any idea of how you feel unless you let them know. You don't have to be strong anymore - the people of this forum are well versed on stuffing feelings with food - I am sure some of the Veterans have developed coping mechanisms to deal with their feelings, once you're physically unable to stuff your feelings

You know, I'm getting sick of my glasses, I need an excuse to buy new ones. I hope to be clumsy with ketosis (and this way I won't have to pee on the sticks)

How to Choose a DR in Mexico and Have a Great Experience

I have to agree with everything you've written, in fact, except that our locations are different, I could have written this -
Welcome! You're in the right place. I've been on here a couple months and learn something new everyday

The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve: Alex Brecher
Rox commented on Ms. Mannix's blog entry in Ms. Mannix's Blog
I read this - it has really good information. If you're light on post-op diet progression information - this provides answers -
I have to say - it sounds really good, the above poster is right - too much protein powder

I hadn't been to the gym since the new millenium started. I went for the first time last week, with my very fit husband, to a Yoga class. I walked past all their machines - I have seen them all on TV or in other peoples houses. The Yoga class was no biggie - except for the mirrors - I was the biggest woman in the class - one thing that I did notice - most people are so wrapped up in themselves that they weren't paying any attention to me.

Belladona - I too was thin and fit at one time, and morphed myself into an unrecognizable blob. I was the one that everyone was surprised that I got fat. My goal weight is 150 - my dream weight is 135
