At this point I don't have a chin - Even at my thinnest i've always had a weak chin. Whatever plastic surgery I end up with - a chin implant is definitely in my future

My surgery isn't until July 30th and I guess I started my Food Funeral early. I am looking forward to having a forced limit on my intake. I plan to take full advantage of this sleeve to put order to my lack of limits.

I have read more than a few times that Gas-X strips were helpful with the gas and walking alot. The first surgery is always the scariest. The great thing about laparoscopic surgery is that the pain is significantly less than an open incision surgery. I'm not saying that you may not feel like someone hit you in the stomach with a baseball bat several times. Some people have reported not feeling any pain. I'm a major wuss when it comes to pain, so if I am saying it's tolerable with pain meds, and that you can stand upright when you get out of bed you can trust me. I haven't had my VSG yet , but, i'm a veteran of 4 abdominal surgeries.

Did anyone watch the video of the VSG surgery before surgery?

I have watched several and nothing I saw made me uncomfortable. I find watching plastic surgery is more disturbing than the sleeve -
Sleeve revision to gastric bypass tomorrow
Rox replied to nailsbyniki's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have not been sleeved yet, but, I have gerd. It has also been so bad that I would wake up coughing and unable to breathe. I hope that your dr. finds a solution that you (and your insurance co.) can live with, happily. -

You are very brave, I really don't want my old high school FB friends to know I got fat in the first place -
Preparing for Surgery via Shopping Therapy
Rox replied to Bufflehead's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery isn't until July 30th and I too turn to retail therapy - it may seem kind of early, but it's never too early to be prepared. All the stuff I bought was for after surgery - i've already bought new jammies for the hospital - which is ridiculous - it's not like i'm going to run into anyone I know in Mexico -
I hope you don't mind if I borrow from your list - most of your goals are mine also.

Life Insurance and Affairs in Order
Rox replied to twsport's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bank accounts, brokerage accounts, and the assets of my mom's estate are all TOD to my oldest son, with the understanding that he shares it equally with his brother - he'll share because i've threatened to haunt him if he does'nt. But seriously, this is major surgery and unfortunately there is a chance of death, whenever there is anasthesia involved. -
Happy Birthday - isn't it nice when your closest family members come thru for you

Nervous about surgery in Mexico
Rox replied to jenna1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am scared about going to Mexico for surgery, but then I think I should be scared. This is major surgery. I did the best I could to research the surgeon, but it kind of scares me that no one on the two support sites i've joined have this particular surgeon. I e-mailed Placidway for information and a rep from Hospital de la Familia called me and talked to me about the surgery. I did see some complaints about Placidway regarding plastic surgery, but i'm really not working with them. I made all my arrangements thru Hospital de la Familia. Anyway, I got the plane tickets and the date and if everything really ends up to be as I have been told. 5 days in the hospital and 3 days at the 4 star hotel. I do feel good that i'll be in a full service modern hospital. -
Cigarettes and surgery....
Rox replied to lonestarstategal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have smoked for 30 yrs. Having to quit for this surgery has me worried. I've tried to quit before with the patch and with Chantix. I intend to see my PCP and get another scrip for Chantix and i'm going to try an e-cigarette. Maybe that will help. Am having surgery in Mexico, but, I think the Docs there are just as strict about it as those in the states. -
4 days in the hospial after surgery?!?
Rox replied to AutismMom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The surgeon that i,m going to in Mexico requires a 5 day hospital stay and 3 days at the hotel where he'll check on me 2X a day -
I just watched some great videos on You Tube of Dr. Guillermo Alvarez explaining the differences of banding vs sleeving. He makes a compelling case for the sleeve procedure

Is it wrong to still want to wear a bikini when you're over 50?? Believe me, if this surgery and I do what we're supposed to do - next year i'll post a pic

Need advice on where to have gastric sleeve
Rox replied to Georgiagirl27's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Am having VSG in Mexicali Mexico. Dr. Marcus Sarinana will do the surgery July 30th. Even with plane tickets and passports - the cost is well below anyone in the states - and if you are from Atlanta - it's one of the more expensive locations to have this done. My insurance expressly states they don't cover WLS. Mexican border towns pride themselves on state of the art hospitals and equipment. People in border towns like Brownsville Texas and Yuma Arizona will cross over for Dental and Medical.
