6 months post op ** NEW PICS**
Rox replied to princesstia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG!!! You look great!!!! You may not have seen the scale move, but your workouts are working. It is probably muscle. Lay off the scale for a couple weeks and see what happens. As grandma says - a watched pot never boils -
Talk me OFF my eating ledge! Help? :-)

Listen to the ladies - you don't want complications that could have been avoided. It's good that you reached out for help, but get on here BEFORE you put something in your mouth -
Does anyone measure their Blood Ketones as part of this low carb lifestyle?
Rox replied to maharet111's topic in Food and Nutrition
That is an interesting idea - I think there's some kind of urine test that does that too. -
Am trying to quit smoking for my surgery and for my overall health. I have found that the e-cigarette has been really helpful. It has less nicotine than the patch or the gum, and I can transition from the low nicotine to no nicotine at 10 days out (3 more days) - I thought that this would be the hardest thing I will ever do - but I think the sleeve will be harder

You have to make Grandma's birthday - you have a good excuse to sit with her, because you won't be moving so fast either.

That crap goes thru my head when it's the middle of the night and I can't sleep. Even if no one would say it out loud - the voices in my head would be singing "I told you so" -- we are all our worst critics. I am 6 wks out from surgery too, and as with everything I have my good days and my bad days. Which I guess is to say, we all need to go one day at a time

Over 50, so I get the Helen Reddy reference. Needless to say, my kids are grown and out of the house. It has got to be so hard to have to cook for your kids and family, but it can be an opportunity. your kids don't really need the junk food - yeah they'll complain at the beginning but there are healthy alternatives to chips. I now know that I should not have given in to the junk when my boys were growing up. My oldest son is obese and my younger one has to watch what he eats. They learned their eating habits from me, and now I need to take a drastic step to save my life and be alive for my grand kids.

My Turn! I have surgery tomorrow morning.

Good Luck and Happy Healing -
Yes it was a slow news day, however, it was this woman's personal story. My mom was fat all her life, yet she was only alone 3 yrs out of her adult life. The day she died her boyfriend was with her.

Top 10 things I will NOT miss after WLS

The sweat stains under my boobs that are visible when I stand up -
I really think that if that worked, it would be all over this forum - losing slow is not the end of the world - you're losing and keeping it off. This is supposed to be a Marathon, not a Sprint

My Dumping Syndrome horror story (read if you dare)
Rox replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my God - Your story was both informative and amusing - thanks for sharing, your husband is definitely a keeper. Some guys would've been screaming about the car seats. So the gist of this is - lemonade and beer cheddar soup is a No,No less than a month out, and always have a Hallmark bag in the vehicle. -
Yay!!! This surgery should be a breeze, after all you are a survivor of the Mary Kay makeover party. Just the fact that you didn't flee the room is impressive. Good Luck tomorrow - Happy Healing!

Welcome and congratulations on taking your first step. With the investment of going to school, making another investment for your health is a wise decision. I know that my weight had a big impact on not getting hired - and it's a legal form of discrimination. It's legal to not hire smokers, so it wouldn't surprise me if fat people were next ( because being fat is a choice you know). I really felt as though I was looked at as one big healthcare cost. I am going to Mexico next month for VSG and even with plane tickets and passport expenses, food, hotel, incidentals, etc., it will still be less $$ than having it done in the states.

Congratulations !! Cute son!!
