Laurend, thank you for responding. I have told her this would not be easy. When I take her to the seminar I am going to have her speak to people who have the band. I want her to know everything she can for this life change. Thanks
-
Wheetsin, I don't think someone has to be a parent to have an opinion. You have the experience that comes with banding good and bad. Her weight was fine till she was about ten or eleven. I don't tnink I would agree for the rny. We talked about ps yeaterday. Having worked for a ps and two ps surgeries, I was able to explain this too her in more detail. Even the slight chance that she might have another surgery to even further correct a pervious surgery. Her dad and I have shared custody. We are on good terms.

Melisa, Your story does help. I do agree with you about the health reasons. Your going to be a great mom. Thanks
-
Mindy I could not agree with you more. Although Jessie is 16 1/2 this is one decision she has to make on her own. The only thing I can do is give her the information, join this site and all the great people of LBT, take her to seminars and anything else she would need to help her I am only here for support. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Thank you that would be great. I would like her to talk to someone her age about this, not just me or the dr.

What started her wanting the band was telling her that I was going to have it done. At first she did not want me to do it. Then a couple of weeks ago I was on and she starded to talk to me about it and I showed her some of the pictures in the before and after thread. I was doing this to ease her fears about me. And since then she has been asking questions. And comming on this site with me. Yesterday she told me she wanted to have it done. I just why she wanted this. She told me that of course she does want to be thinner, she does not want to take medication for high b/p as her father and I do and the diabetes medication her father and grandmother takes. And have the veins like I have in my legs. If she still wants to do this I will make sure she understands. If at any time she changes her mind, thats fine. She has to do it for her not anyone else. But, if she continues I will be with her all the way.

Isabella, I will make sure she understands that the band is a tool, too help her. And that this is life changing. Your right, the hardest part will be her father. Thank you so much. You look great.

WASa, I really think she could handle it. I am not banded yet but will be as soon as I get my medicare problem taken care of. I have been researching since May of 07, I have gone to two seminars, the dr's eaxm the nutrition appt, and I have been here since June. She is already having problems with her knees. She does have many friends all thin. She is not dating. But, there is this one boy she really likes, and is in every class always online or texting. I feel he can't or won't ask her out because of her weight. I was overweight in school but, not as much as Jessy. So I know how hard it is for her. Thanks
-
We have been divorced for 5 years now. I can usually ask him for anything for Jessie and he will say yes. This I will have to approach diffrently and have all the info ready to answer his questions. And explain the health benefits. Or do it with out telling him. lol

Her name is Jessica. I am not sure if he will go. His insurance is bc/bs. He is a respiratory theripst. The surgery would be done at Mountainside Hosp in New Jersey. Thanks Cris & Mindy

Lauren, I agree with you 100%. I was married at just before my 22 bd and seperated 12.5 years later. Never, I would go out with you in a heartbeat. When I was 40 I did date a guy who was 22. You know what he did for a living. Made pizza. So if your ever in Jersey. -
