Hey everyone, I had my surgery on June 6, 2007, which was last Wednesday. Feeling pretty good today. At my first consultation with my Surgeon, I weighed in at 319 the most I had ever weighed. I am self pay so I asked my surgeon if I could have the surgery done the following week. He said it shouldn't be a problem as long as I started my pre-op diet that day, and was able to get my labs, ekg, chest x-ray, pft's, and psychology visit done and everything looked good, then we could go ahead with the surgery. I managed to accomplish everything by Friday, June, 29, 2007, and paid for my surgery on Monday. Wednesday I went in for surgery and was home by 4:00 PM that afternoon. I had managed to get down to 310 by the day of surgery. After the surgery I had gained four pounds back, I guess due to fluids. As of today I am weighing 301.5, that means since my first consultation on June 29th I have lost 18.5 pounds. Since the date of my surgery I have lost 8.5 pounds. I am not sure which one to go by. Regardless, I am happy with my results so far. My blood pressures is already down some. I am having a hard time with the liquids though, I am already sick of broth & s/f Jello, but I refuse to compromise my health because something looks good or smells good. This is really a test for will power. I know I can handle it though. My sister had her band done on May 14th, and is doing awsome. If she can get through it then so can I. Good luck to everyone out there that is going through this or will go through this. Tammy

Hi there, I was banded on June 6, 2007, and have lost 27 lbs so far. I had my first fill done on July 23, 2007 and got 2cc. Everything is going good. Still trying to stick to soft foods and liquids like shakes and yogurt. I started having this pain on Wednesday evening after my fill had been done, and it is kind of between where the longer incision was done (where the port is placed), and where the Dr. actually put the needle in to do the fill ( which is below the bigger incision area). The pain is about in the middle there on the left side. Also hurts in my back like the pain goes straight through. It hurts more when I am standing and when I push in on that area it is tender. It isn't a constant pain, but more like an ache type pain. Annoying. Called the Dr's office and they will see me on Monday, but just worried and wondering if this is just something that is common after a fill. I know everyone reacts differently to their fills. My sister didn't have this pain. So just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks. Tammy

Hi thanks for the concern. I saw him Monday afternoon, and he said that everything looks fine. He felt of the port area where I was having the pain and said it all felt as it should, and that I did the right thing by coming in. He said if the pain doesn't go away or gets worse to come in. He is very good about encouraging his patients to come in any time they feel like they need to. I am feeling fine, I was was never in too much pain, but what I was feeling was not normal for me, and like most of us here, we are new to all of this and our bodys are changing because of the surgery, so things will probably never feel like they used to.

:clap2:Hi everyone I was banded on June 6, 2007. I have lost a total of 22 lbs since my consultation with my surgeon. I met with my surgeon 9 days before I had my surgery. I went on my pre-op diet immediately, and lost 10 lbs before surgery, and like I said 22 total. I am still on liquids and have started including full liquids like yogurt, milk, etc. Tolerated these pretty good. I am still a little leary about eating, so taking it slow. I really am not into the vomiting thing, as I am sure all of you are also. I have done a little too much the last two days, so I need to rest. Hope everyone is doing well. Good luck to those of you that are about to have it done. Tammy

I had Lap Band. The first few days I was not in much pain, just uncomfortable, and had to sleep in the recliner. It was just easier to get up and down. I slept alot the first couple of days, but I made sure to get up and move around also to prevent blood clots. I don't know if every doc requires it but, I am having to give myself Heparin injections every 8 hours to thin my blood and prevent blood clots. This was easier that I thought, tiny needles, don't hurt at all. Today is my fourth day out and I felt good enough to go to church. I was never in very much pain at all, sore the most around my port area. Hope this helps...it isn't that bad. Take care and good luck. Tammy -
Hi there, I had mine done 06/06/07, and am now 4 days out. I am having some issues with the smell of food, but you can get past it if you remember that even trying something this early on can make you sick, at least that is what it is like for me. Will power....you have to have it. I was at the hospital at 5:30 AM on the day of surgery and was released by 2:00 pm that same day. I don't work so I can't help you there...but I would give it at least a week before you go back to work. I am feeling pretty good today and like I said am four days out. A week should do you good. I am in Texas so wouldn't know about your doc, but do research...alot of research before deciding on one. Good Luck. Tammy
