I am not trying to be judgmental, in fact I try to avoid that as a general rule, but this inst the first time you have posted a similar thread to this forum. Please take this in the spirit in which it is intended: This is a public place where good, bad or indifferent, you will come across people you like and those you don't. You cannot change who they are and they will not change who you are. Accept and Celebrate the differences in people. If there are people who's posts annoy you, do not read them. You kind of have to have a thick skin on this site or any site. If you think this is bad go hang out on a gaming forum or reddit and see people get castrated daily for their opinions. It is not a perfect world and this is not a perfect group of people. Accept that and you will get much more enjoyment out of this forum.

Look up After Weight Loss Surgery on Amazon and you will see several books to help you. http://www.amazon.com/Weight-Loss-Surgery-Cookbook-Dummies/dp/0470640189/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376321749&sr=8-1&keywords=recipes+after+bariatric+surgery http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Post-Weight-Surgery-Cookbook/dp/1440503869/ref=pd_sim_b_5 here are a couple basic ones to help get you started. I picked up the Dummies one myself and found it to be useful.

Insurance Requirments
NellieBean replied to MrsAnders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I did not have to do the 6 month diet with BCBS- IL. My first appointment with the surgeon was May 23rd and I was sleeved on July 17th. It probably could have been a week sooner but getting the psych eval in with my work schedule was a challenge. -
Is 2 weeks reasonable?
NellieBean replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is different for everyone. I was sleeved on the 17th of July and went back to work the 29th, so not quite two weeks. -
Sleeved on 7/17. Really tired of pureed food. Desperately, tired of them. I just am not that creative to figure out anything that doesn't look too disgusting to eat. I go back to the Dr on Tuesday and meet with the nutritionist again. I have not been weighing myself just focusing on meeting my daily goals. So Tuesday will be a surprise, hopefully good. I am also hoping for a pass onto soft foods.

LIQUID DIET SUCKS!
NellieBean replied to ladybug112000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As much as the liquid diet sucks, the pureed part to me is the worst, worst, worst. -
I am three weeks out today and I eat four times a day on a schedule. 7 - 11 - 3 - 7 I am not hungry and have to actually remember to eat. I also find that it helps for me plan ahead and manage my Protein over an entire day. The first couple of pureed days, I was at the end of the day short but now I have a pretty standards Breakfast, lunch and snack which leave me room to try new things at dinner and not have to be trying to get 30g of protein in.

My NUT and Dr said not to worry about calories during the pureed stage, too. According to MFP, I am between 500 - 600 a day right now. Once I move on to soft foods, then the aim would be 800ish a day. I have more to lose than most, so that probably plays a part in the decision making on calories.

These are the stories I love to read, so thank you for sharing. No disappointment at unattainable goals, happy and healthy and enjoying life. I love your outlook at moderation and that you measure your success with what works for you not with some magazine idea of what real women are. Congratulations.

Before and after vacation pictures
NellieBean replied to Richard Foor's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Such an inspiration! Congratulations on your accomplishment! -
For now, until I reach soft foods, calories are not my concern per the NUT. I have been given 60-70 as a goal and the 64oz of liquids. I have been tracking in MFP and am averaging around 500/cal a day. Once I get onto soft foods, it will be 800/cal a day.

I make a shake in the morning and use a scoop and a half of Protein I add 8 oz of almond milk and some ice and that is half my protein for the day. I drink it over two hours or so. It seems to set up the rest of the day and getting in protein easier. I also eat every four hours. After Breakfast that leave three meals to get 30 grams of protein in. So ten each. Bariwise had a strawberry kiwi flavored protein that is 15 grams and I will sip it over the course of the afternoon. Oh and the Syntax Latte is also good too to sip over time. The ice tea syntax flavor was beyond gross. If anyone who reads this forum has any influence, instead of ice tea how about a Chai tea flavor? Because that would be awesome.

My doctor told me that this was changed because people were dying during the waiting period. -

You should call your doctor and ask this kind of question. -
Scared. Is ANYONE healthy after this surgery?
NellieBean replied to Kaj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are some people who have had a difficult time with the surgery but there are so many more stories of people who have changed their lives because of the surgery. I think there were four or five new stories tonight, alone. This is not an easy fix, you will have bad days. You will have to redefine your relationship with food. You will have some discomfort and you will wonder after if it was the right thing to have done. I am only two weeks out but I can say what gave me comfort through the process was reading the stories and the encouraging words from the veterans. Good luck on your journey and may you have peace with your decision. -

One year Anniversary
NellieBean replied to debbie0406's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look so happy and beautiful! I am always amazed how much younger everyone looks. I think its just health and happiness radiating out! Well done! -
Mine was considered part of FMLA. You might want to ask for the paperwork from your HR dept. I had surgery on a the 17th and came back on the 29th. The original paperwork my doctor turned in was for three weeks but I did not need that much. I work for a pretty awesome boss who lets me be flexible while I finish recovering, and for that I know I am very, very lucky.

How inspiring! Congratulations on your success.

Sleeved on the 17th, working since Friday on pureed and to work in my Protein. I had a rare moment of brilliance this morning when I realized a scoop and a half of my protein is 30 grams. I drink it in the morning in the car on the way to work and finish it off at the office instead of coffee. This made getting my protein in so much easier today. I have basically gone to eating 4 times a day (7, 11, 3 and 7). At three I have a second shake which puts me right around 50 for the day and getting in my remainder between the other two meals is not as complicated. I have been having a greek yogurt at 11 ( which puts me at 60 grams) then trying different things at dinner at 7. I tried egg beaters yesterday and it was like i was eating shards of glass. I like my eggs not runny and that might have been the problem. Today I used canned white chicken with garlic herb seasoning and light mayo on wheat saltines and I am in love. I am not weighing myself until I go back to the Dr on 8/13, especially since I am entering into the dreaded 3rd week stall and don't want to drive myself crazy. Have a good day!
