Wow, so sorry to hear about your experience. Dr. Almanza didn't even make my list when deciding on a surgeon, I didn't even need five mins of researching to know he was never to be considered. Unfortunately many others have also spoke of bad experiences with him. I'm always amazed when I see that people continue to schedule with him because of his prices. That being said, it doesn't mean that "resleeving" isn't a real thing or isn't an option for some. It is. I did extensive research for months and months looking to have it done myself. If your sleeve is large enough, a resleeving can correct it and put you back on the weight loss track but choice of surgeon is everything ! The only one I would trust to do it is Dr. Wilhmey. I however decided that if a sleeve can stretch once it can stretch again and went with a revision to a Mini bypass with Dr. Rodriguez. He took my small intestines and brought it right up to my existing sleeve a few inches from the top giving me a smaller pouch and also some (but not too much) malabsorption. Dr. Rodriguez doesn't believe in resleeveing because he doesn't think it will give the same results as the first time as your body is already used to restrictive procedures at that point. So far I'm very happy, my recover has been great (I did get dehydrated and pneumonia in both lungs) but bounced back very quickly. I don't know if you're looking for other options but I don't know why the MGB wouldn't work for you as well. Just a thought...

Gas And Bowel Movements On The Plane Ride Back
Band07 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The gas in your body actually is absorbed into your body and "passed" out the natural way. You may also burp some too. BUT it's nothing terrible and I found it had zero smell as I hadn't eaten anything to give it smell. Also, same as the others have said, you won't have a BM for a few days, my advice and I've read a lot of horror stories about impacted bowels! Don't go more than a few day without, take miralax or something similar if you go more than 4 or 5 days without. Its not worth the risk of waiting! -
April 22'nd Gastric Bypass Buddies
Band07 replied to KalelsWifey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a mini bypass on 4/23, the first few days had gas pain and no energy. Went back to work Tuesday still no energy, 11 days post op ended up in the ER with severe dehydration, a UTI and pneumonia in both lungs Today though only two days later, I feel pretty good! Must be the difference being hydrated can make! I'm slowly slowly adding things to my diet, right now I have Protein shakes, yogurt, pudding, Jello, a few cream Soups and as of last night small amounts of cottage cheese. I weighted 185 the day of surgery, i was 173 this morning. -
I had surgery Thursday, I let it go till Tuesday then took Miralax with a little grape juice and it worked in about an hour. I make sure I go at least every other day now or take Miralax. Too many horror stories out there about impacted bowels for me! If you haven't went, get something quick! It's not something to be taken lightly! I would NEVER go longer than 4 or 5 days without taking something.

Vacationing after surgery.
Band07 replied to mal0712's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are going to gatlinburg then Myrtle Beach. Mainly some walking and seeing shows. I won't be going anywhere that I can't take a break if need be. I know I probably can't go swimming and all that, Fluid won't be a problem we have a cooler tht I pack down with Water anyway for al of us. You say fluid won't be a problem, but read the hundreds of posts on here about how much of a struggle it really is. You have zero appetite and zero desire to put anything in your mouth at all. It's like a job to keep drinking, its truly hard! Luckily I don't get nauseous like a lot of others do and mine goes down without feeling stuck again like some other feel but it's still hard work. Also expect very low energy the first couple weeks and when I say low, I mean I needed a nap after I took a shower because that was too much for me! I'm not trying to scare you or say it's not possible, just saying expect that it might not be as easy or as relaxing as you hope. -
Vacationing after surgery.
Band07 replied to mal0712's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had zero pain after the gas was gone about 4 days post op...BUT I ended up in the ER at 11 days post op with severe dehydration, a UTI and pneumonia in both lungs. Now, 2 days later, I feel pretty darn good and I'd be up for a vacation now lol I guess just be prepared for anything though, I never expected the dehydration or that it would be SO hard to get my fluids in. The pneumonia, it happens, luckily it was caught quick. -
I was one that went back quickly, surgery on Thursday, back to work Tuesday. It was hard just because of the low energy but doable. I also flew home from surgery (Mexico) 2 days post op. Ask your surgeon, I find they all have various requirements/recommendations even when it comes to lifting.

Maybe just order some side items? Mashed potatoes or a soup? I agree with Pinkpolkadot, I try everything new at home first, too scared not too.
-
Staples where? I had nothing that needed removed, my incisions were all dissolving inside and glued on the outside. But if you have staples holding your incisions together on the outside, yes waiting too long will make them harder to remove for sure!

Hang in there! I had mini bypass 4/23 I'm just now starting to feel good again. I split my vitamins up between morning and night so I'm not taking them all at once, maybe try that to help with the nauseous feeling? Also, my weight loss has been really slow too, it sounds like you know why but also, just this morning i was down 5 lbs from yesterday so don't be surprised if it kicks in quickly. I think I needed to get hydrated and start adding a little bit of calories for mine to start up. My body didn't take well to Clear liquids at all !
-
Focus on fluids first, then protein and vitamins ! I'm 12 days out and was in the ER yesterday with severe dehydration a UTI and double pneumonia. Just being hydrated made a huge difference for me today ! Seriously changed everything !
-
I'm 13 days out and today is the first day Iv had any interest in eating anything at all. I introduced a little bit of cottage cheese but only maybe an ounce or 2, I have no idea what full feels like yet but I'm just going super slow for now.

If anyone has seen my other posts, you know this is my 3rd weight loss surgery. Lapband/Sleeve and then Mini bypass on 4/23. I don't know why but this time is SO much harder !! I have zero energy, zero appetite, I'm struggling with fluid and protein, and I just don't feel like myself anymore ! I'm depressed and I'm just miserable all the time and feel like I just want my life back !! I know obviously all this can be pretty normal, I just needed to vent it to others who can understand ! Thanks for listening

Thanks ! I'm convincing myself it will be ! All positive thinking from here on out and focus on the future !

Hi, M! Thank you for asking. I usually don't even open the e-mails from the WLS sites anymore, but for some reason I opened yours :-) I'm doing better. I'm finally gaining weight so now the fear of being "huge" again is scary. I still love food . Unfortunately, I've come to realize that one addiction leads to another. If you don't figure out why you over eat in the first place , have this surgery it's not uncommon that we substitute food for something else . My late brother in law , same surgery, Sam ages and had surgery one year after me found alcohol which damage his kidneys more and costs him his life. I turned to drugs. Thank goodness I got caught. I actually came out on my own. What a relief. It almost cost my marriage, my family, my kids . I've lost so many cars from wrecks. My husband left me. We are working on saving our marriage. So far it's going well, but it hasn't been long. But I'm determined and have a wonderful support system. My parents and older sister have been my ROCK. I WOULD NOT BE HERE IF IT WEREN'T FOR THEM. I was at my breaking point but no one knew. Suicide was ALWAYS on the brain. Lost all self esteem , due to my on going dental issues. Missing most teeth when I use to beautiful teeth. I wouldn't look in the mirror even while putting on make up or brushing my teeth. Much less want to talk to ANYONE. Which led to wanting more drugs. Luckily, I have the MOST INCREDIBLE PARENTS. I'm over coming having all my rotten teeth pulled and dentures made THANKS all to my mom and dad. They are a HUGE BLESSING. I appreciate you asking . That was nice. Made me think maybe my story can help just one person and that I should keep up with this more. Especially since my REAL story doesn't end just at the take down surgery. There's more complications that go on that are hidden very well from some some. It's a very dark and lonely place. Again, thanks. Michelle *SORRY FOR POSTING THE SAME PICTURE OVER AND OVER, IT KEPT SAYING IT CRASHED SO I DIDN'T THINK IT DOWNLOADED! I'm in no way trying to be insensitive, I actually do some work as a drug/alcohol counselor so I realize what a major issue addiction is and the very real possibility of transfer addiction, however reading your first few posts, drugs were not mentioned and you scared a whole lot of people who were led to believe that ALL of your health issues and personal problems and even demise of physical appearance was 100% due to your weight loss surgery. Now sure, you can say I had weight loss surgery and became a drug addict and that in itself is a tragedy that many will empathize with, however had you not started using, would your bypass had led to the same results ? I for one think it's important to clarify and report the whole story when discussing such serious life threatening complications. Regardless, I'm glad you are doing so much better.

Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) anyone?
Band07 replied to eal098's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Following surgery ? What on earth for ? Iv had 3 bariatric procedures, worked for a bariatric surgeon for over six years and have been researching and educating myself on bariatric weight loss surgery for almost 10 years and have never heard of this as a routine part of post op. -
As if it hasn't been hard enough, spent 5 hrs in the ER yesterday with dehydration, a severe UTI and double pneumonia I'm ready for the good things anytime now !!
-
So Iv been doing pretty good but the last 24 hours I have extreme right side back and shoulder pain. Feels just like the gas I had after surgery on my left side but this is on my right, anyone else ? I'm 11 days post op.
-
Bilateral pneumonia and a severe UTI; sucks but ill take that any day over a leak or a PE !!

I'm 11 days post op. Also I should say, I have a low fever but everything I read about leaks say left side where the stomach is and where that pain would be.

I'm at the ER waiting for a chest xray.

I knew others out there would understand ! Thanks guys, I'm not saying misery loves company or maybe I am lol regardless, it's always nice to know that you aren't alone and for most this stage passes fairly quickly. Unfortunately I didn't have any choice but to return to work on my 5th day post op, thankfully I don't do much but sit at a desk though even that seems to take energy I don't have I blended some chicken noodle soup in my food processor today and I have some bean and bacon to try later, hopefully just eating something, anything will help a little ! At least that's my hope. Again thanks for the replies and wishing you all, all the best as well !

Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Juarez
Band07 replied to Janex43's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, I know that is his preference. He actually does a mini bypass so it's not the same as RNY. That's what I had him do. I wanted more of a guarantee not to gain it back this time and no more surgeries. I'm doing okay, better in some areas than others. Who are you going with ? -
Thank you Band07! I'll be praying for you on Thursday. Please do let us know how you're doing. God bless!! Surgery went great ! I went back to work Tuesday last week, I have zero energy and zero appetite so it's really hard right now getting in Fluid and Proteins. I know the first month is the hardest but honestly having had 2 prior surgeries It's a lot worse than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, surgery wise and recovery I couldn't be better ! This struggle is all emotional

Kidney Stones after Gastric Bypass
Band07 replied to Lena375's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yep, I had 2 extremely painful episodes of kidney stones after my lapband from not drinking enough. I had a revision on 4/23 and I'm really struggling with fluid, definitely worried I could end up with them again! It's the worst pain ever !!
