Band07 replied to Band07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I'm not but I haven't had a bit of heart burn either. I had it a lot prior to surgery but my doc fixed my hiatal hernia during surgery and Iv felt great since. -

Band07 replied to Band07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing only protein more less, no junk (sweets make me sick ) and I really don't feel it is head hunger.. I also weight first thing every morning when I get up and I'm usually very in tune with my fluctuations but something feels different the last couple of days. I do feel full but the feeling seems to only last maybe an hour after I eat. I hope I'm worrying to much but I just don't want to see the scale moving the other direction ????. -
I was banded in 07 and unlike many others on here I didn't hate my band, it changed my life and I will always credit it for that and never regret it. I lost 90 lbs and kept it off for 6 years with the exception of about 20 lbs that i fluctuated up and down. I decided to revise to sleeve for more consistency and I really just wanted a change and honestly I hated that feeling of being stuck !!! I was sleeved on 9/20 and I have to say I am loving life !!! I'm doing it right this time as far as vitamins and protein first and even though the 4 weeks of liquids post op was the hardest thing Iv ever had to do now that I'm on softer foods I couldn't be happier with my decision!!! I feel full !!! I haven't felt stuck, I haven't thrown up... Nothing !! Recovery was a breeze and I went back to work after 3 days off, I do get very sick from eating sweets which is a big change for me having had a huge sweet tooth prior to all this but I'm okay with that. I'm 10 lbs from my goal and I feel better than I have in years as far as health goes ... Anyway I just wanted to share for anyone who may be struggling with the decision to revise. I may have liked my band, but I LOVE my sleeve !!!!

Has anyone ever heard of developing a leak after 4 weeks ? When are we considered out of the woods so to speak ?
-
Could these cases have happened earlier on and were just discovered later ?

I did not have this surgery to give up food forever!

Band07 replied to Ashleyp24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree completely !! In fact I refuse to write down what I eat or count calories or weigh food or anything that even feels like a "diet" I stopped doing that 6 years ago when I was banded and I lost 90 lbs and kept it off with the exception of 20 that I fluctuated. I make good food choices about 80 % of the time and focus on my overall health. I do eat a lot of protein and I run and I live a normal life. -
I was banded in 07, lost all my weight and kept it off. Sure I knew how to eat around my band but I also knew how to use it as the tool it was meant to be. I loved my band and I will never regret my decision to have it, it changed my life and it was exactly what I needed to change my habits ( binge eating/emotional eating ) that being said I still revised to the sleeve 5 weeks ago. Recovery was actually similar for me after both. I had surgery on Friday both times with my band I went back to work Monday with the sleeve Tuesday. I will say my post op diet with the sleeve is the hardest thing Iv ever done !! That 4 weeks of post op liquids was killer for me !!

My surgeon says that it's not uncommon to see this but the good news is it shouldn't effect anything with my success with the sleeve or my eating. He said to be aware of heart burn/ reflux but I haven't had one bit since surgery

Too Early...to experiment

Warm liquids !! Avoid cold, we usually think that cold will help with swelling but it makes it worse, hot teas and warm broth will help sooth. -
Protein Shakes VS. Real Food
Band07 replied to Ellenenchanted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Solids since day 1 !?!? I have never heard of that !! Wow, what is his rate of leaks ? My doc is very conservative with post op diet and has never had a leak. Yes nutrition is very important but so is not giving your new recovering belly more than it can handle the first couple of months .. -
Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
Band07 replied to sleevette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back after 3 days off and I wasn't given any lifting restrictions. I'm up and down and walk a lot with my job. -
I know what you mean about some of the stories, I read one where someone said they were feeling human again at 12 weeks And I was like omg ! I'm 4 weeks and 3 days and i would never know I even had surgery if not for my new food choices (still on soft). I had surgery on a Friday afternoon and by Tuesday I was working 10 hr days. I was a little tired but other than that haven't had a single problem.

Thanks ! I'm going to talk to my surgeon tomorrow about what this could mean long term .

What foods can you simply not have anymore?
Band07 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone who says sleeve patients don't get dumping syndrome obviously hasn't experienced it !! I get this from ice cream too ! Very nauseous, rapid heart beat, diarrhea and overall feeling like crap for about 30 mins !! Also happened when I tried some peanut butter pie. Looks like sweets will not be a big part of my future -
One month after surgery
Band07 replied to ReadyNewM3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a band to sleeve revision on 9/20 so today is 4 weeks exactly for me. I was 174 the Monday before, 169 day of surgery and 157 today so just 12 lbs from goal. Iv had a very easy recovery Except the post op diet has been a killer !! What are you eating ?? -
I really don't want to sound cold or heartless, but ... What are you complaining about ? You LOST 21 lbs In 4 weeks !!! How is that not great !? Especially when you just come through a major surgery and your body is still healing. If you do that again next month and the month after, that is 60 lbs by Christmas. A loss Is a loss, celebrate it !!

Surgery Friday went back on Tuesday. -
Just now moving to some soft/mushy foods ( yogurt, cottage cheese type ) wondering should I be feeling full ? Or does that come more with solids ??
-
How are you doing ? What are you eating ? How is weight loss going ?

Anyone else 3 weeks out ?
Band07 replied to Band07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the replies !! It looks like we are all pretty close with our weight loss and recovery but I feel like I'm the only one that is still on full liquids I'm soooo ready for some variety, I know I'm not getting in enough fluids or protein but on the plus side I have never once missed my vitamins which for me is a huge accomplishment. Keep up the good work everyone !!
