I'm heading down 4/23, I would like to find someone around the same time as well, I'll probably be traveling alone. -
FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Band07 replied to SOPHIAAGETTYS80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I said the same thing, until I really did a lot of research on the MGB. I honestly think that over time we will continue to see issues with the sleeve and weight regain and stretching it back out. Maybe some people have stretchier stomachs than others, I'm not saying I know why, but I was 100 % convinced being resleeved made sense to me until I knew what the MGB was actually about. I guess I'm just saying don't be put off by the thought of it until you really research it. Keep an open mind -
Anyone else a little freaked out when they read older posts by someone who says they are going for surgery and will post all about it and then they never seem to come back around? Is it just me, or does anyone else worry just a little about this?

I was worried about you!! lol but there were others too that I had noticed, so glad to have you back and doing well!!

FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Band07 replied to SOPHIAAGETTYS80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree, from what I've been reading the best option for revising after the sleeve if anyone is looking to go that route is the MGB, I'm tentatively scheduled for this in April. -
FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Band07 replied to SOPHIAAGETTYS80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would personally question the professional credibility of anyone who suggested I eat processed chemicals that came frozen in a box lol but that may just be me ..I like the motto if you can't pronounce it, don't eat it ???? -
I talked with Dr. Kelly today, he is very nice, easy to talk with and answered all my questions ! I see why he has quite the following....just makes my decision even harder now !
-
Lol I totally get that, my concern was more for the ones who say "my surgery is tomorrow, I'll tell you all about it when I get back " and then don't follow up ????

FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Band07 replied to SOPHIAAGETTYS80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a large sleeve, it literally does nothing to help me. My doc used a 42 bougie and went loose due to the scar tissue from my band and it easily stretched out quite a bit. I've got my x-rays to prove it looks nothing like any other "sleeves" I've ever seen. I've done a ton of research on this and I'm pretty sure that narrowing through the middle which can create an hour glass shape is sometimes a post op "complication" of the sleeve, i say complications however obviously it's not causing any issues, it's just not the desired outcome. I'm currently looking into options to revise. Best of luck to you ! -
I have tentatively scheduled with Dr. Rod in Juarez for April 23rd, I'm still freaking out though so not sure I won't talk myself out of it before then but as of yesterday, I'm on the books !

Thanks! That makes me feel better lol
-
Thank you ! It's frustrating more than anything but I've worked very hard over the years and through all the ups and downs I've only gained back 40 of the 120lbs I've lost. I just wish I had done a lot more research before revising from band to sleeve and i would have skipped that all together...live and learn

I've been researching the MGB for about a month I would say, I just finally decided it was the right choice. I was banded in 2007 and did amazing, I was sleeved in 2013 and have struggled ever since, my "sleeve" is large and distorted from the band and I never felt restriction or reduced hunger or really anything from having it done.

I love it too! I have never worked out so hard in my life and I've never enjoyed it so much!! I'm looking into a revision surgery soon and I hate the idea of having to take so much time off to heal, I know going back will be like starting over and the pain that came the first few days is not something I ever want to go through again! lol

Looking for info on Duodenal Switch Surgery In Mexico
Band07 replied to Midwest Cowgirl's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I have a sleeve and am looking to revise too, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the MGB, have you looked into it at all ? -
I always say I'm "normal" too lol this will be my 3rd surgery ! Thankfully my husband is great and supports whatever I want to do. I'm 40 lbs above my lowest and I'm just afraid I will keep gaining if I don't do something soon.

Was this with Dr. Rodriguez ? -
This isn't something I would typically eat, but have on occasion in the past and it's something most people can relate to in size so for example I can eat a 6" subway sub and a small bag of chips with no pain or discomfort at all. This is an xray pic of my "sleeve"

Any thoughts on the mini bypass ? I'm looking into this now and have been pretty impressed by what Iv found. I'm seriously considering it.

I'm seriously researching the MGB right now, Iv read great things and even talked to a few others who revised from sleeve and have done very well.

Thanks for sharing ! What surgery did you have ? Did they do a leak test before discharge ? How are you feeling now ? Any complications ? I'm researching MGB with Dr. Rod and would love to hear how it's going now. I may be traveling alone as a mid 30's female, anything I should be concerned about ? -
Is bypass a better revision?
Band07 replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
According to the surgeons I've talked to the revision is pretty easy, they just need to do the malabsorption part and maybe tighten the sleeve. As far as my sleeve, I was a band patient and did amazing! I lost over 100 lbs and maintained that for a long time, i revised to the sleeve and my surgeon used a 42 bougie and went liberal with that. Due to that and the damage that was already done by my band I was left with a large distorted sleeve that I never felt restriction with and never lost a bit of hunger. I've actually gained 10lbs since my sleeve surgery and the only reason it's not more is because I work like crazy to keep it off but unfortunately it's turning into a losing battle. I've had the sleeve since September 2013, I revised because I was sick of feeling stuck all the time and concerned what could come if I left it in long term, that and everyone said how amazing the sleeve was. -
I can't wait to hear how it went ! Wishing you all the best !! Please post updates when you can
