I felt fine and would have gone apeshit sitting in a hospital bed. Instead I was out shopping, site seeing, hanging out with my sister, napping and watching movies in the hotel room. The surgical center and on all doctor was just a phone call away. OCC was very cautious about discharging patients and didn't hesitate to keep someone longer if they needed to. Other than my neck fusion, I have always had my surgical procedures done at a surgical center in the US, so it's something I'm comfortable with. And Even with being in the hospital with my neck fusion, I was discharged (at my insistence and surgeon's OK) about 26 hours after coming out of recovery, so it wasn't much different. I would feel that too except that I'm going to Juarez so shopping and site seeing are not an option ! Lol

I'm not sure who you are directing this at but personally, it didn't matter too much to me. Some however who are high risk feel more comfortable in the hospital the whole time. I would have been okay either way and it didn't play much into my decision making. I have zero co morbidities and am low BMI so I didn't feel like I needed the hospital time but it happened that my surgeon keeps you there anyway.

Average stay in the US is 24-48 hours.

I'm having revision from sleeve to MGB on 4/23 !! Terrified but also excited !

Dr. Watkins doesn't now nor has he ever performed gastric bypass. He feels it's too invasive when you can lose as well with the other procedures available.

I'm heading out Thursday morning, surgery that afternoon. Definitely a nervous wreck !! I'll let you know how it goes !

I never in any way said I could verify this because I failed at losing weight ! I said I could verify this because I had xray pics which I provided of not only my personal pouch but of others as well. There is NO ignorance or misinformation here, there has been a discussion about the information provided by personal experiences and by the medical community. And, since I am a glass half full kind of person, I assume people take this information and use it in a positive way to be more adamant about making changes, exercising and not taking risks with their sleeve instead of "giving people an excuse to fail." Which btw, since you don't know me or my situation have no right to make those statements about me. I lost over 100 lbs with the lapband and maintained it for 6 years, the sleeve has been a detour for me yes, but "failure" I'm sorry, that word doesn't now nor will it ever describe me. Have I gained some weight ? Yes, but have I stopped trying or pursuing my goals ? Hell no ! I truly hope that no one out there experiences their sleeve stretching or losing their tool, it's not an experience I would wish on anyone but I will hold with my original opinion, the sleeve can stretch ! We've seen it with every weight loss surgery out there and IMHO to go around believing you are "safe" from that happening is a disservice to anyone who has had surgery because the simple fact is we don't know for absolute certainty that it won't.

Because it stretches A correctly done sleeve should not give much. It will "stretch" slightly with continuous abuse. At least according to the research I've done and the surgeons I've consulted. We will have to agree to disagree. I will agree many factors can play into stretching, obviously no 2 people (or their stomachs) are alike.

Yes, I agree completely, however if It was just that easy, why would anyone have had surgery to begin with ? We obviously needed a tool and I can only speak for myself but when mine stretched out I had NO tool to help me at all.

Yes that is prob my main concern too ! I finally gotten over my fear of being kidnapped by drug cartels or shot by random gunfire lol and I'm more comfortable with the flight though it's not my favorite thing to do but I'm still left worrying about 1) post op complications and 2) I worry it won't work for me since I'm a revision. I don't have anyone set up to follow up with at home so there is that as well. I know they do leak tests and I plan to do an excessive post op diet (with my sleeve I did 4 whole weeks of liquids!) to make sure I heal really well ! I'll prob do that again this time too just so I don't take any chances of eating too soon ! Other than that it's just really playing the odds ! Thankfully only a 1% chance of a leak are pretty good odds ! Lol

I went through the same thing about 2 weeks ago but now that I'm down to 3 days I'm feeling more excited than anything ! If you truly feel that you've done your research, you're well educated and know what to expect then you should feel good about your decision. You've picked a great surgeon with tons of experience !! I will report my full experience when I get back as well so you have even more information. What is it specifically that you worry the most about ?

I'm having the mini bypass on the 23rd !! I'm nervous too but mostly excited!! From all my research it seems dumping is well controlled with making good food choices. I kind of like the idea of having that kind of behavior modification in place to keep me from eating things I shouldn't be anyway. Of coarse there are always risks but hopefully you have researched your surgeon well and trust his abilities. Complications are rare thankfully ! Try to focus on the benefits of losing weight and better health!

The first part of the MGB is actually the sleeve, they just do the second part which is the bypass. You can revise to anything from the sleeve so I'm not sure why your surgeon would say such a thing, from the sleeve you can revise to rny, MGB, DS and even a lapband if you want.

Band07 I just took a look at one of your old post. It states that you are 175 but want to be 150 and you are considering a revision. No judgment, I'm just curious, are you considering surgery to lose 15pds? I didn't know at such a low BMI a revision could be done. Again, just asking. Your old post also states that you had the sleeve in 2013 and you have since gained 10 pounds. And that you have never really felt a restriction and can eat whatever you want... Is it possible that your surgery wasn't performed well or there is a decrease in its function because you are a revision from band? It's true my sleeve was made larger because of scar tissue from the band. I said I would be happy at 150 heck today I would be happy at 160 ! 150 is still overweight though on the BMI scale for my 5' 3 1/2 height. This morning I was 188. At this point I easily have an extra 50 lbs to lose. My highest weight ever was 260, I was around 230 pre band surgery and I got down to 139, I maintained between there and 145 for years.

Don't laugh ... I'm a counselor, I did pre and post surgery counseling and ran all the support groups.

If you're asking me, I know insurance sometimes pays for revision from band to sleeve, personally though Iv been self pay for all of my surgeries. I don't know if they pay to resleeve.

I'm not sure why you refuse to believe this can happen but here are a few more for you that were not prior lap band patients and are not me. These are actually revision surgeries of those who had to be resleeved.
