I can understand that you were insulted and maybe it was just the tone of your salesperson's voice. I did used to shop in the Talbot's women's dept, and when the perfectly nice, trying-to-be-helpful, salesperson suggested the women's dept after my surgery, I took pride in telling her that I didn't need that anymore. And then congratulated myself for not needing that dept anymore. Maybe it's just because I am not pushing down emotions with food anymore, but I feel like telling someone off every day -- over just about anything. Then it occurs to me that the person who will be the most damaged by this is me. Rather than just blowing off the slight or insult, if I react to it I will stew about my reaction until I find myself eating something not on my plan. Just a thought . . .

pains but I can feel my bones.
cindymg replied to pinkdiamondprincess36's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That doesn't sound good. How's your hydration? What prescriptions do you take? Could it be a reaction to a drug? Are you calling your doctor, like tomorrow??? -
I took 4 weeks off because I have a traveling job and couldn't lift my suitcase. I would imagine you will be advised not to lift a 2 year old. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

Am I in the honeymoon stage?
cindymg replied to ElaineB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 month post op and feel like I'm still in the honeymoon phase. All positives so far. Best thing I ever did for myself! -
My psychologist exam no clear answer.
cindymg replied to bigbeauty78's topic in Insurance & Financing
The psychologist that my surgeon uses doesn't accept my insurance (annoying). So I called my insurance company and they found me someone who does Bariatric surgery evaluations. He was basically evaluating if I understood what I was getting into, if I could manage the post op dietary requirements, and if I was doing this for myself and not to please someone else. He didn't insist on more counseling, but I am leaving the option open. So far I am doing okay, but if I feel the need to talk to someone, I will go back. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing! -
My SLEEVE IS TOMORROW 8/14/13
cindymg replied to lifelovekix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
They are taking out 85% of your stomach -- yeah I think they will notice. You'll be on liquids for several more weeks, so this is the time to get used to it. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing! -
Drink warm broth. You need the salt. It will give you a lift. I used to go to Panera Bread and get chicken noodle or French onion soup and ask for just the broth. They always were very nice about it.

Dunno. I discovered its benefits quite by accident. I don't have high cholesterol, but as a diabetic, dr wanted my LDL below 70 (ridiculous!). So I went through a truly horrible period of trying about 5 diff drugs. All caused HORRIBLE side effects. So my cardiologist suggested I try Fish Oil. My hair had been thinning for several years, and a few weeks after starting Fish Oil I noticed that my hair had stopped thinning. And I just generally felt better. I think that lifetime dieters have spent years cutting out fat, and that contributes to hair loss and dry, itchy skin. Fish oil, and healthy fats help prevent those things. Just my layperson's view. Oh, and my cardiologist's.

Yeah, me too. I am learning to search for information though. I am finding that most of my questions have already been asked/answered. Happy reading!

I am 3 months out and no hair loss. Others warn that it starts at 3 1/2 months. We'll see.

Sharp pain on ribs... not sure what to do
cindymg replied to CouchToHealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Left side pain could be gas. Get some GasX strips and if not better by morning, call your surgeon. Of course, if you have a fever, or the pain is severe, go to ER. -
Sounds like a good idea to me. If you are in pain and can't wait to see doctor in the morning, I say go.

Sore Throat, not from surgery
cindymg replied to JoMez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do the same thing. Over the weekend I went to a knitting show and thought I was catching a miserable cold. Blew off a party Sat night cause I was chilling and my throat was so scratchy. Took Claritin and a decongestant and was fine by Sunday. Guess something at the knitting show got to me. -
Lower back pain? Are you exercising? Did it ever hurt before surgery? If no, call your surgeon's office.

My psychologist exam no clear answer.

Does that mean she won't approve you for surgery? What do you think? Do you agree with her assessment, or do you think you should talk to someone else? -
OMG>> how am I supposed to go through with this?!~!
cindymg replied to birdmadgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Broken record here: you do realize that the risks of having a car accident on the way to the hospital are actually greater than the risk of problems with the surgery. By the time of my surgery, I had had six months to think about and read everything about the sleeve surgery that I could put my hands on. I was making jokes about changing my mind, but once they hooked up the IV, I figured I was stuck. My only sister was actually more nervous than me. I think she was nervous that if I died, she would have to be responsible for our mother. I didn't change my mind, and it's the best decision I ever made. 3 months out, no complications, no pain, no nausea or vomiting. I'm down 47 lbs, co morbidities resolved and I feel fantastic! -
1st day of my 2 week pre-op diet

Broths -- drink broths. You need the salt and they will give you an energy lift. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing! -
Welcome Melissa! I have a friend who is a chef and had sleeve surgery about a year ago. She has now started her own business making pre-op protein shakes and broths, and post-op smoothies and soups. I credit a lot of my success to her excellent cooking. I can put you in touch with her if you want to send me a private message.

Start of new chapter in my life!
cindymg replied to trillian135's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just had my Vitamin levels checked. Blood Counts, Iron, Sodium, Potassium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 -- all perfect, right in the mid-range. I obsess about Vitamins though, so it is paying off. Cholesterol was 184, HDL 53, LDL 116, Triglycerides 75. Blood Sugar still a little high at 133; A1C 7.1 -- but I expect these to be normal by my next check in 3 months. -
Weighing, stalls & realistic expectations
cindymg replied to zenandnow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Going to crow here -- I have never had a stall. Mostly because I stay off the scale. I won't have one in my house (I am compulsive, and if one was in my house, I would weigh every hour). I weigh at the doctor's office, and lately at the gym -- but only every 2 weeks. Keeps me honest, but sane at the same time. -
