  1. I got permission from my surgeon to take Advil at about 2.5 months post op. I have a recurring shoulder problem. Two Advil and I was hungry for 3 days! Totally not worth it. I got a cortisone shot for my shoulder instead. There is an arthritis strength Tylenol. It helps more than regular Tylenol. No liquid version though, so wait until you can swallow caplets.

    Gallbladder removal?

I'm experiencing a lot of nausea 4 months post op. No pain though. But I come from a family where all of the women have their gallbladders removed. My surgeon is sending me for gallbladder ultrasound. Whoopie! Something else for me to look forward to (:rolled eyes)!

    fish oil

Doctor told me to discontinue it along with Advil 2 weeks before surgery. Good luck in your journey. It's going to be amazing!
  4. Not recommended with unjury protein powder. Can't remember why (the memory is the first thing to go).

  6. Tried movie popcorn, on the other hand, hoping it would do the same thing -- but no luck. Just slides right through!
  7. About a week into soft foods, I had a craving for Italian. So I thought meatballs at my favorite Italian place would be good. Of course they came on top of spaghetti, and I ate a few bites of that as well. The meatballs were full of bread fillers (why didn't I ever notice that before) so not good quality Protein. But the spaghetti just got stuck. I have never vomited since my sleeve surgery, but that night I wished I could. Had to sit in the restaurant for about 30 minutes to keep the food from coming back up. Turned me off any kind of Pasta. The thought of it just turns my stomach. Hooray!
  8. I ate like a madwoman before my pre-op liquid diet. I called it the "dead man walking diet" (you know, the every meal is my last meal syndrome). But then I went on liquids for 2.5 weeks and dropped 20 lbs, and shrunk my liver before my surgery. You could go ahead and start your liquid diet say a week before your surgery. That ought to get rid of those 5-10 lbs. And, I find it alot easier to do all liquids and take food completely out of the picture. You could make it even easier by giving up sugar and caffeine NOW, so that the withdrawal symptoms aren't so bad the first 3 days. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

    fruit bars?

Do you mean the Edie's Sugar-Free Fruit Bars? Yeah, they are so good I had to stop eating them -- I could go through 4-6 a day. So, back to sugar-free popsicles for me. Fewer calories and less of a trigger food for me. But, I hope you enjoy them!

  12. Hey Gamergirl -- it is Friday, the 13th you know! Thanks for venting. Makes my minor problems seem so much less important. Hope things improve soon. In the meantime, a friend posted this yesterday. It gave me a good laugh!
  13. Make sure your insurance company is informed. I had to delay my surgery for a month because of work, and my insurance company tried to un-approve me the day before my rescheduled surgery. My surgeon, thankfully, was able to get the approval reinstated, or I might not be writing this. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

    Time off

I took 4 weeks off and needed every bit of it. But then I had serious co-morbidities and needed to adjust my meds as I recovered. Don't rush it. This is major surgery and you don't want to suffer a setback.

    MAY sleeverss

May 15, down 57 lbs. Feeling spectacular!
  16. At 6 weeks post op I noticed that my contacts weren't fitting right anymore, and my glasses seemed blurry. Went in for an exam, indeed my eyes had changed and i bought two new pair of glasses, and new contacts. Now at 4 months post op, my eyes have changed again! I am a type 2 diabetic, and my blood sugar was really bad before my surgery (A1C was 10.7). My blood sugar is now under control and A1C is in the 6's. The optometrist says that affects the eye shape and I have become less nearsighted. Now I need all new lenses! That's for two pairs of glasses and contacts! Fortunately, it's not going to cost me that much, as the optical store is going to cover the new lenses for me. I will pay again for the anti-glare coating. So not really an NSV, as it is costing me another $200. But I wish I'd known my eyes were going to change that quickly!
  17. Read an article about Lisa Lampenelli, the comedian, losing 106 lbs with the gastric sleeve. That's the first time I'd heard of it. The rest is history . . .

    Food

I skipped the purée stage because I couldn't stand the texture. Since I had never had any complications, no pain, vomiting or nausea, my nutritionist said I could go to the soft, really soft, stage. I ate lots of cream Soup, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes, sugar-free pudding. I added unjury Protein powder to most things, and drank my Greek yogurt smoothies for my protein. Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

    Calcium Citrate?

I use Bariatric Advantage caramel calcium chews. They are my nightly treat -- taste like Kraft caramels, but sugar-free. Delish!
  20. Children's Vitamins? How does an adult get enough vitamins from those. Bariatric Advantage has sugar-free chewables. They are online. Also, if you are near a Whole Foods, they have a number of sugar-free vitamins.

    fish oil

Hi Gamergirl: try taking something else after the Coromega, like a chewable Vitamin, or gummy. I take one packet in the am, one in the pm. It really helped with my itchy skin. Benedryl cream helps too.
