  1. My paperwork is being sent to Athem BCBS in the new week by my surgeon's office. She said could take 6-8weeks to get answer. But I've been reading on posts that people are getting approval quickly. So I'm sending positive vibes to the universe for this to go quick & to get approved. Nerves are set in. I wish everyone one all the luck.

  2. @OKCPirate...your reply was sweet & so true. And I agree with you too.

@@Jennifer Cunningham....good luck on surgery day. The nerves are your way of preparing for the days after your surgery is done. I'm in the final stage of my insurance process now. The closer I get, the easier it is to reach that point if knowing I'm there makes it all worth it. I'm excited to be this close finally for myself so I can only imagine how you are freaking out right now. Just think, you made this decision to guve yourself the life you've been dreaming, you're health will be better & you'll be able to do so much more than you could imagine. This tool will be your guide to an amazing new you & a year from now you'll look back & say "I'm did it! I'm so proud of myself for getting this far in my journey!" I know you have the luck & the strength to make it in this new journey you're starting. Xoxo

  3. I just started my process Aptil 1st. I had a hiccup until almost the 3rd week w/ the hosp. They said they didn't get my updated insurance information wheni faxed it over 3rd week of March. I've been trying to get the VSG covered under insurance for years. My evaluation appointments are on 6/9, the nurse said they each take 1 hour. I then have my initial surgeon visit on 6/23 for 1 hour too. I'm excited to have the process officially started now. My surgeon is a good one here in St Louis Mo. We spoke for a few minutes at the seminar & I felt comfortable with discussing my health problems w/him. If my insurance doesn't accept the diet dates I have from my dr office, then my 6 month re-dieting starts again as of 4/1. I'm crossing my fingers. I wish all good luck on this huge, yet amazing journey to become a healthier you. We're all going to get emotional waves of excitement before & after, same of fear & worries before & after. I'm glad this app is available to us all. Very helpful.

  4. I became overweight at 10 or 11 y/o. Since high school I've tried losing weight & failed. I gave up back when I was 23 y/o & ended up in the icu for 5 days due to pneumonia & breathing problems. I lost 15 lbs during my visit, came home & continued to eat healthy with my family. But somehow I fell off the wagon a year later, oh and I never lost more weight. Until mid-August 2014 to now I have lost 45 lbs. I'm happy to have lost that much weight & not put it back on. I've been trying to eat less & slowly getting rid of my favorite soda, Dt Dr Pepper. Lol! That's my cryptonite. Some days I splurge & eat til I can't anymore. Which is part of why I am fighting for my life some days, at least I feel like that. I feel the Sleeve Gastrectomy will help to be a tool on my appetite & to help change my way of living. I am 35 y/o with a twin brother, obesity runs in our family. Being healthy is all I want for me right now. Health problems have started popping up now. Growing up I only had asthma & allergies/sinus problems. Now in these past few years, I have high blood pressure, Migraines, herniated disc in my lower back, sleep apnea, now diabetes type 2, this year I found out I have liver problems all related to my weight. It's hard seeing my health get worse. I am hoping that this is the Last year of getting bad news on my health. I'm pushing myself to be healthier & it's working.
