  1. Gawd that first week was horrible. I agree. Focusing on water and broth helps.
  2. Speaking of Taco Bell, when I was out with my little girl and had to find us something for lunch, we went there. I ordered pintos and cheese for me. It was wonderful! I had about 1/4-1/2 of it and threw the rest away. According to their website, it wasn't more than 100 calories. It's like a bean burrito without the tortilla! Maybe next time if you get stuck you can try it.
  3. It amazes me how much we all have in common here. Yes, I too have felt all these things. I am almost 3 weeks out. This week was hard bc I came to stay with my mother who keeps a kitchen stocked with food and cooks amazing meals every evening. My whole life I have taken comfort from her food. And when I have dieted, it was always a deeply emotional effort to keep from eating her cooking, especially in my teens and 20s. And here I am at 39 & 1/2 years old feeling it all over again. BUT, I took my daughter to the zoo this week, and we walked around for hours. I felt healthier than I have in so long! Then a few days later I took her to the mall and walked some more. It felt great! I took her trick or treating, and had a blast walking with her. Today, we walked outside collecting sticks and pretty magnolia stems. It was bliss. I am starting to feel WONDERFUL!!! I predict you are going to start feeling great too soon! K
  4. Thank you so much for sharing. I've wondered what it will be like. I just submitted a paper for a conference in february, which will occur when I am 4 months out. I hope it goes like yours!

    Protein shakes

Hi D, They are easy on the tummy and super high in protein. Some of high in calories and some are not. But if we can remember to have a lot of protein every day from the beginning, maybe our hair won't be falling out a few months from now!

    Pizza soup?

Hi, I am a few weeks out, and what I do is add a few tablespoons of soup to chicken broth. Once, this past week, I got a can of campbell's orange and tomato soup and put 2 tablespoons of it with broth. Then I got some Beans, pureed the living daylights out of them and added a few table spoons of that to it as well. It had Fiber and tasted so good!

    Crackers?

" when soft simple carbohydrates are eaten this tightness or restriction does not result and one can continue to eat, unmeasured, copious amounts of non-nutritional food without ever feeling uncomfortable. " SCARY!
  8. Congratulations!!! Well, I had 3 chocolates yesterday with my little girl. Today, I have absolutely 0 desire for chocolate. It's the craziest thing. I have NEVER been able to resist chocolate. It's almost TOM too. Normally, I would be living for that chocolate, for more, more, more!

how to go back after almost a year

Sometimes, I see people suggest that a person go all the way back to the beginning by starting with a week or two of liquids. This idea intrigues me because I was so surprised at how much easier pre op liquid dieting was than I thought it would be. If you don't feel like starting there, you could start working in a few protein shakes every day.

    Confused

    Yup! Me too!
  11. I totally didn't take it seriously until we submitted everything to the insurance. It got REAL real quick! You are in for exciting times!
  12. I don't want to derail the thread, but I am really looking forward to seeing what your 7 bites cooking show is like. I'm just waiting for my daughter to go to bed! I am still on sips, but when I get to real food, thinking of it as 7 bites is very useful way to get through are new meal experience.

    Any advise please!

One possibility is that there are air bubbles in it that are too much for you to tolerate right now. Pre op I made mine in the blender, but I haven't tried that yet because of all the air that will get mixed into it. PS I puked foam today too, and it freaked me out. I had 3 bites of well chewed lean beef hot dog frank, and I was a mess for about 30 minutes. I don't know what all the foam was about.
  14. Yes. I take Target's home brand version of them. They taste just the same as my little girl's vitamins, which she adores.
  15. Oh no! It sounds like you've been through a tough time already. Maybe the bypass will make things better?

    Disney Princess Half Marathon!

Yayayya! These look like SO MUCH FUN! I'm not ready yet, but I can't wait until I am!
  18. Gosh, Amy. That sounds awful. It doesn't seem fair to have to deal with this when you are actually following all the rules. And I was just thinking today how I should be able to avoid so many common problems since I don't have my gallbladder anymore either. What you're talking about does sound like gallbladder trouble, but it just can't be. Good luck Thursday. I hope you get some answers fast.
  19. Oh my goodness! I didn't realize that not going was that much of an issue! I guess I better work on this!

    Sleeve bust open?

Txblue, how awful! I hope things got smoother after that.
  21. I'm 6 days post opened, and I really hurt myself listing my toddler onto the potty. You really won't be able to lift or carry the babies for a little while. I sure do hope it doesn't take too long.
  22. They wait to give you anything by mouth just in case there are leaks in the stomach. I think it was the next day before they did the leaks test. I think the anaesthesia plus the IV drugs afterwards will probably keep you nice and sleepy. Good luck with it all.
  23. I had mine on Monday. I have experienced 2 cons so far. 1) Recovery has been more physically painful than I thought it would be. 2) I also had to go without my antidepressants while in the hospital, which gave me an unbearable headache, even with tons of morphine. I went home Tuesday evening, and the first thing I did was take an antideressant. The headache finally went away. After surgery, you aren't allowed to have anything by mouth until they do the xray test to look for leaks, which is why I had to go without antidepressants. If you aren't on anything like that going into the surgery, then it won't be a problem for you.
  24. Thanks for starting this thread, Carmella. It's on my mind today too. I had the surgery Monday. I woke up with enormous hunger day before yesterday, this morning and this afternoon after a nap. broth makes it go away. But I wish I didn't feel it at all. I've seen a few people mention the idea that too much acid in the stomach mimics the feeling of hunger; so I'm going to take the Prilosec every morning as the doctor directed. Before, I only took half at a time because I didn't feel the need for it. I have no other symptoms of too much acid.
