    Mushy Madness!

I read on the forums that after you've been on mushies for a bit, you find that you can eat a whole lot more than before. I am finding this to be very true. So the actual use of will power has to start now. What are some of your favorite healthy mushy meals? Right now my favorite is mashed sweet potato with 2 tablespoons of canned salmon. I put a bit of light blue cheese dressing with a can of salmon, and I've been eating it for days. I also put some whey Protein in with the sweet potato. It's wonderful! Other favorites include 1-2 tablespoons of canned salmon in a drained, mixed fruit cup (yummy Breakfast today!) instant mashed potatoes with whey protein and Quorn pureed Beans with 1 or 2 Adele's chicken meatballs

    Mushy Madness!

Great list! I keep forgetting to get cottage cheese. Yummy! And I love Avocados. I am going to get some of those too!

    Protein Bar Question

Hi, I haven't tried those. I used to have Perfect Zone bars, but now you can get almost the exact same bars in Target brand Protein bars. They seriously taste good and have lots of protein.
  4. Hi Everyone, I had surgery 31 days ago. When I left the hospital, my surgeon told me to take Prilosec (Omeprazole) for 30 days. Time is up, and now I am experiencing the sleeve without it. I don't know if it's just a coincidence or what, but my stomach is now making crazy crazy noises when I eat. I am starting to get worried about what this is going to be like. If your surgeon had you on Prilosec, can you tell me what your experience was like when you came off Prilosec? Did you have to change your eating? Did it cause problems? What should I look out for? At the moment, my mushy lunch feels like it's mostly just sitting in my esophagus. Bummer.

4Th Day Out And Still No Bm

It took me about a week after surgery, and I don't think that would have even happened if I hadn't pureed some beans and ate 2 spoonfuls. I also made sure to have more water than I had been getting. That was all it took!
  6. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I am WAY more hungry now than I've been before. Incredibly hungry. It has to be because of not taking prilosec. That's scary. I'll start taking it again for now, I think. I don't know how I'll handle life with all that hunger.
  7. Thanks, everybody. I did get burpy, 2Skate! I think you're right. I may need to take it longer. I want to avoid having to take it too long though. I just read that bananas are great for the digestive lining also. I'm going to add those to my mushies!

    Super Stoked

Cool! I keep imagining something similar here. Right before surgery I bought roller skates for me, my husband and my little girl. I am thinking the garage would be a perfectly place to practice until we're good enough for the rink!
  9. I am so glad you asked this today. I am on mushies now, and the burping just does not stop. Does it really go on forever? I mean, the holidays are coming up! Am I going to be doing this in front of everyone? And I'll be at my in laws for Christmas. How embarrassing! They're English, for crying out loud!

You're doing great! Wow! Keep us updated on your progress.
  11. Jazzell, Every single one of these amazing people on this forum has been where you are. Just know that you are on a journey to somewhere else now. These are the last months that you're going to have experiences like this. Personally, I hated seeing family more and more the higher my weight got. I have in laws in England, and I promised we would come see them last summer. We didn't because I was dreading being seen. But now, with surgery behind me, the weight is falling off. We're booked to see them over Christmas. I'm still nowhere near my goal, but it's a whole lot better than how I felt last summer, 50 lbs ago.
  12. You look stunning! Like 2 completely different people--many different people, actually! Thank you for sharing the pictures. Your progress is so inspiring!
  13. Gamergirl, I KNOW how awesome that must be! I can't wait, wait, wait to get there too! Your victory is our victory too!!
  14. Congratulations!! That's great!

    Low-Carb Shepherd's Pie

This looks great, Gamergirl! I used to love Shepherd's Pie. I've never had it with cauliflower instead of potatoes.

On The Verge Of Mental Collapse

--- I understand the science behind it, I was a bio major once upon a time. Spare a thought or two for the psychology behind it. You are placing too much emphasis on the scale. It only tells part of the story, and your doctor's office knows that. Just eat/drink/exercise as you've been advised to do, and stop focusing on the scale. Focus on the things that you can actually control.

    Depo shot

Yes, in my 20s-- some time ago. I went from around 155to 185 in a very short time after the shot.

    I want Cake

Hi there, I love cake too. My compromise was getting a cake pop from Starbucks. I had 2 slow bites and then was so full that I threw the rest out. They are only about 180 calories. It's not in any way nutritious, of course, but it will certainly fix your craving and keep you from having that depressing feeling that you're being deprived of something you want.
  20. Hi Everyone, So far so good! Highest Weight 304 Surgery weight 294 on Oct 14 Current weight 266 28 lbs in 3 weeks sounds great. But of course I can't really tell a difference yet. All my clothes are for lounging (I work from home), so they are just little droopier than normal. The biggest excitement is that I can wear some sports bras that I haven't been able to fit into for months and months. So, we know where that 28 lbs came from now don't we! Kay

    this may start a riot.

I learn constantly from this community, but I do understand where the OP is coming from on the issue of judgmental or hyper-preachy responses. For me, it helps to remember that the people who respond that way are largely trying to soothe their own anxieties and reinforce the rules that they themselves are grappling with. When one person is 'falling out of line,' they are reminded of how easy it is to do. I remember seeing much worse when i was on *gag* Nutrisystem and frequenting their forums for support. Gosh, sometimes dieters behave like we're all in a cult. :-)
  24. Oh no!!!! That seems so unfair!

    Pills?

I have seen ibeuprofin liquid caps, I think. I wonder if that would be easier on the stomach lining. You can also get children's liquid ibeuprofin.
