port location and size

mine is located under my right rib although every doc has there spot that they pick. If I am lying flat and I push firmly I can feel it otherwise I cant. I am sure you can feel it better after weight loss. It kinda feel like a ball under your skin maybe the size of one of those kids bouncy balls. It's there as long as your band is there. I figure if I am evey skinny enough for it to show I'll get a cool tattoo over it!

Co-Morbidity Factors

I was taking a BP bill and one for GERD and a mear 2 1/2 weeks post op they have already taken me off the BP pill and I only take the one for reflux as I need it. My advice is weight loss is a major way of healing th ebody. My BMI was also low and I had to fight for the insurance to pay but they did and it took appeals and frustration, so if your not banded get banded ! Good luck.
6. ha I so agree with the liquids in liquids out thats been my case for 2 weeks now, looking forward to mushie (ewwww)

How is recovery?

I'll be honest my recovery sucked but I also came down with the stomach flu 5 days post op. Now 12 days post op I feel great. If you did well with a c-section this will be a piece of cake. I too almost backed out several times and when I had the flu I wanted it out. Now I am so glad that I made the decision to have it done and probably the decision that will add years to my life. They have already taken me off my blood pressure med. I've lost 11 pounds and although it's been a transition, I've done it, I have noticed that I no longer roam around the kitchen looking for the "something". Instead I roam outside and look at my flowers or something other than food that I have been focused on for too many years. Hnag in there and do it. Hope this helps.
9. I'm two weeks of doing full liquids, if I never have cream of chicken soup I will not be sad mashed potato sounds heavenly. Drink your water. Hang in there and just look at that scale every time you want to give up!
10. my preop diet connisted of one day of clear liquids and I couldnt even do that. Well I did but I convienced myself that I could start it after lunch because my surgery wasnt until 12:30. The only person that knew was me and thats how I kept it. The surgery came and went and now I have my band and I have lost 11 pounds in two weeks and I feel great. Keep your head up and do the best you can do, we are all here because we have failed at diets, that doesnt change just because! Good luck!
11. Hello all, 10 days post op and I am looking forward to advancing to mushies, hopefully on Monday when I see my surgeon. I feel great and am going back to work tomorrow. Some one on here had mentioned the magic bullet and I went to walmart and bought one. As far as I'm concerned everyone needs one. To make your shakes, mush things up it does it all plus it has everything you need for storage, easy to clean. Wow. I am too excited over this but I figured I would share! Have a good day all and if you have any magic bullet tips please send them my way. Thanks!

Banded on the 5th and my bruises are fading, I feel human, lots of glue still stuck to my belly from the steri strips and bandages what takes that off. 10.5 lbs less of me and oh all people my father said to me today you look good I can already tell your losing weight. (he was the sceptic about all this) Good luck to all!
13. :help: Would anyone believe my luck Sunday after noon I took a nap and when I woke I was so nauseated I started getting sick, attempting to vomit, diarrhea, the whole nine yards. It was aweful and painful and I was scared out of my mind. I ending up panicing and getting diaphoretic. My kids called my sister she's an EMT for the local fire station so needless to say I took an ambulance ride to the hospital where they hydrated me and gave me antinausea medicine and morphine. They said it was almost like I had the flu. The next day my 12 year old was home vomiting, with the flu. Go figure. I called my sergeon and she said that some times it happens and as long as I was no longer vomiting then surgically I was fine just to rest. I'm very discouraged I havent really had a good day since surgery. I think at one point I was saying, I dont want to do this anymore! Any words of encouragment I need them.:straight
14. Good news I feel great finally, I think I am actually going to go to work saturday! Thanks everyone, oh how do I load a ticker? I found the site made it but not sure what one to cut and paste

13 days post op band

I've been over doing the amount fair and I live by the eat until your full, my program says 4-6 tblsp a meal, usually I eat one of the small single serve yogurts or cream of wheat for breakfast, I've been having a hard time finding a protein shake that I like they kinda make me nauseous, lunch I have a cup of creamed soup, I stopped picking the chicken out, I just chew it lick a hundred times before I swallow it. I have plenty of s/f pops they save me. I know how you feel cooking for everyone else but hang in there. Ive lost 10 pounds too banded on the 5th! Good luck.
16. well Jeni I needed those words seems we have had the stomach flu we meaning me and my 12 yr old, this also brought me to the hospital for hydration, I still dont feel great but I do feel better, wishing I could have a scrambled egg, go figure that one, I havent been able to stomach the protein shakes in a couple of days. I am glad that it gets better. Thanks!

Gas Pain vs. Gas Pain

I had abdominal gas pain, but I do believe that most of it was from the surgical gas they instill, either way it has to come out and for me it came through my GI tract but getting there caused mulitple sharp gas pains in multiple areas, hope that helps I am sure it's different for everyone! Good luck, JoAnne

Denied for only being on 1 med

my insurance denied me twice saying that my hypertension wasnt severe enough, I also was taking 1 med, I didnt take no for an answer and sent in an appeal, it was approved by an independent reviewer and I got my band on 6-5 DONT GIVE UP! They dont want to pay and will try everything not to. I even looked into going to mexico so I feel your frustration. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
21. clear liq the day before but I cheated my surgery want until after noon so I started the liqs at noon the day before. Bad me. It didnt seem to matter.
22. I am also 4 days out and have had a lot of epigastric pain, my surgeon said that I am expecting too much too soon and I need to use the pain meds and rest, something I dont do well, I was thinking that I would go back to work on Monday but I think they will just have to live without me another week. I feeli a cramping pain with mild nausea around the pain, I am passing huge amounts of gas, my family is digusted but I am relieved, hang in there we can do it! Jo Anne :girl_hug:
23.
As I am reading this 4 days post op eating my 4 tablespoons of cream of wheat, I am forced to think. What the hell have I done. Then I think you know cream of wheat isnt that bad, I had always said that no one would be able to get me to eat it now I find myself enjoying it. After reading these stories I think I will try really hard to stick to my diet. I know that my surgeon said she doesnt reccommend ice cream because of the fat and potential high calories, but I found eddy's slow churned light no added sugar and everynow and then I just take a tablespoon and enjoy it as long as I can you think thats ok?

Well good luck all, and lesson learned no pita for this chic! JoAnne

24. :help: Hi all, Wondering if anyone can give me some tips, I was banded on the 5th and just in the last couple days I have been having alot of epigastric pain, it comes and goes and it feels like a contraction of some sort hard to describe but it's like everything tightens up around the band for 3-4 seconds then it relaxes and occasionally it's followed by a brief period of nausea. Has anyone else had this and is there anything that helps. I was trying to not take th enarcs because i was hoping to go back to work on Monday but those plan have changed I told them I would need another week off. I couldnt imagine going to work right now. Thanks for any input. JoAnne
