I love that, "my band is possessed" gave me the best laugh. Anyway my band is possessed to some times it says Ok you can pass, other times it says I dont think so and heres some slime so you dont try that again!

wanting to eat
joanne1970 replied to realestwoman71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded June 15th and not to disappoint you but I have just found "restriction" my last fill that was 4 weeks ago. Before that I was able to tolerate everything, now I feel the difference and the weight is coming off more effortlessly, I eat but I am not hungery between meals, bad foods like doughnuts, bread, cookies, ect do not go down well. It only took a couple pb's for me to get it. I still eat things I know I shouldnt but feel that the real battle is in my head not my stomach, hang in there and you'll work your way through we are all so much different some say after their first fill they had restriction and then theres me, going today for #4 hoping this will be the "sweet" spot! Good luck all. -
My Doc is very conservative clears the day of fill and day after then full ligs for 2 days, I never make it. I usually just add soft then reg, havent had any trouble.
-
Have you ever had 0.1cc adjustment??
joanne1970 replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont think it's silly but hard for the doc to measure, I just got my third I am up to 2cc and am still looking for that "sweet spot" -
Please Help!! I'm about to pick up a french fry
joanne1970 replied to akomalulu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing that stinks is cravings are always going to be there. When I PMS it is the worst, I can eat. My Doc reminds me that the band is not going to make me feel full it is going to make me not feel hunger. When I crave something I am not hungry, I just want it! Does that make sense? Needless to say I try to distract myself, sometimes it works most times it doesnt so, I cave in to my cravings but in small amounts. I am a pizza addict. I used to be able to eat 4 slices, now I have one. So I guess you just have to do whats right for you. I feel good and have lost 30 pounds, just hit the 180's so life is good. Good luck! -
Overcome By Food-no Band Restriction
joanne1970 replied to embracelve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I havent found that sweet spot I have 1cc in my 4 cc band the center that I go to told me that people dont feel restricted until 2-3 fills, for my doc this would be 1.5-2cc, I cant wait my second fill is monday an dI need it! Hang in there -
How can I get myself to go to the gym??? I'm too embarrassed.
joanne1970 replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally would rather see an overweight person at the gym rather than destroying their life at a restaurant or other place. Who cares, you are doing this for you not them, right? -
serinity I hear your frustration I was banded June 15 and have had one fill, I eat "normal" I dont feel restricted and I dont have any food intolerances occasionally I swallow before chewing good and get that stuck feeling. I am looking forward to monday thats my appointment for my second fill. I have been reading through and I think that it's clear that everyone is so much different. I havent eaten 5 burgers but I have eaten pizza, chinese, all the bad spots that I was hoping not to crave anymore. What I do however is try. I try to order a better choice like we stopped at BK and my daughter just wanted fries so we got the whopper jr meal, I ate the sandwich and she had the fries, I opted for no cheese. Just little things at least it's better than were I was. I have lost 21 pounds not great but not bad. hang in there and keep your eyes focused on the prize, a longer healthier life! Good luck everyone.

Embarrassed, ashamed, scared, HELP PLEASE!
joanne1970 replied to Jennifer4118's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad I read this tread Tracy hit the nail on the head for me. I have 1cc in my band and could eat anything, I want restriction but I keep telling myself it took years to put all this weight on and now I am 21 pounds lighter since June, more than I would have been without the band. I go for a fill on Monday (cant wait). We all are hear for the same reason and none of us are perfect or we wouldnt be here, I think we all deserve a pat on the back just for being banded! Yeah us! -
not from maine but you neighbor from NH email me anytime jchase34@metrocast.net I was banded in June been a little slow going for me but second fill on monday, I cant wait, where in maine my hubby is from northern. Anyway good luck and keep in touch!

I have a 4cc band and have only had one fill and honestly if I didnt have the scars I wouldnt guess that I had surgery at all. Monday I get another fill and I am hoping that this will help. I dread going to my appointment with only a two pound loss but thats why I did this, I often tell myself, "you have a eating disorder, duh" Well hang in there, I am sure if you go to your appointments and work with your doc it will all fall in to place.

I am, now dont get me wrong I buy the light oatmeal bread and cut the crust off (never liked crust) then I either have a little chicken salad or two pieces of turkey and some light mayo, I do not snack. I have 1cc in my band, I have lost 18.5 lbs and just went under 200. What I have been doing is exercise and making good choices. My surgeon said, "thats what this is about, giving you the tool you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle." If I loss 2 pounds a week I'm happy, kinda scared about loss skin and stuff

the chocolate calcium is the best sugar free and walmart makes a brand, like a treat twice a day. I have 1cc and have been losing slowly but I too would like to try to get by on as little fill as possible because I still enjoy food!

Anyone approved by insurance with BMI less than 40?
joanne1970 replied to KMEArnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same here 5"3" 216.5 lbs hypertension and GERD my insurance denied me twice but I appealled and have been banded for 6 weeks and loving it. Todays weight 198! -
Great news you have to fight for what you want. I did the same they said my BMI was too low and my hypertension wasnt severe enough. I fought back and got banded 6 weeks ago and have lost 18.5 pounds! Life is good.
-
I just got my first fill and am trying to keep in mind that the band is the tool not the fix, so trying to eat right and keep my portions at a reasonable amount is what I do. Like for lunch I can eat a sandwich and a few baked chips but I always stop if I feel full because I cant stand the too full feeling. I havent had the bread problem.

What happens in 20 years.....?
joanne1970 replied to Painter Girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Waht will happen in 20 years if you dont have it done? I was banded 5 weeks ago lost 16.5 already been taken off my BP and GERD meds. hmmm... -
How was your recovery 1 week after surgery
joanne1970 replied to too much of me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hmmm this all sounds so familiar. I was banded 5 weeks ago I went through almost all the gas, chest pain and everything else described also the bloating. I said more than once what the hell did I do to myself. The good news. I would do it again. It gets better and when your swelling goes done and you can eat you will feel like a new person hang in there all you losers! -
Trying to decide whether to do this or not
joanne1970 replied to melstl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks out and am now on real food, I never thought that I would go through the stages of mourning the loss of food and I did. Also I never thought that I would have a single regret. Today I have no regrets. During the liquid stages I had regrets. I always keep this in mind. 5 weeks I've lost 16.5 pounds. Had I waited or not had it done I certainly would gain that amount if not more, I was on BP meds and GERD meds, post op I have not needed any of these. If I had continued to gain I would probably be facing diabetes, heart disease and other complications. I am concerned that your family and friends are not being more supportive, I say prove them all wrong, and if they are over weight as well tell them to jump on "the band wagon". Hey what do you have to loss? I can tell you what you can gain 5, 10, 20 years of life. Think about that. -
Surgery Scheduled For 6/18/07
joanne1970 replied to CARIE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad your well, I too am fighting hunger and I have to admit I have broken some of the rules. I am trying to stay to the small amounts but I am so hungry and not restricted it is hard. I had a vanilla ice cream and I have had to snack a few times, still I am 15 pounds lighter and I have been making but for my ooops by extra time on the treadmill or hiking. I keep reminding myself that this is not like gastric bypass and we are expected to loss 2 pounds a week. Like you, I am sure, I do not want to fail at this. Then I keep in mind that I am here because I have problems with food, DUH me, with no restriction th eproblem is still there. Good luck and hang in there. PS my surgeon does the first fill 6 weeks post op I have 2 1/2 to go :faint:
