Can we start a new one - I need a new incentive as I didn't quite do as well as expected and then lost track of where I started. I'm planning a trip to India in early November and I'd like to be able to fit comfortable in a coach class seat!!!

Three weeks of stuffed and aching ears has put a big crimp in my weight loss plans. Eating all the wrong stuff and no exercise. BUT -I'm off all the drugs the doctors gave me and II'm ready to start hitting curves. My immediate goal -the 220's are evil i dont want to be associated with them anymore, I shall run through then with th grace and speed of a gazelle.

Try Spiegel - wasn't my lapband dr but he's another on on the list for houston

I had a pretty good cough when I first got my band - no slippage but woooh baby those first few days were kind of "interesting". I'd cough, then actually say "ow" then laugh because I said "ow" then I'd say "ow" again because I laughed!
-
That's absolutely fantastic - congratulations!!!! I so look forward to when I weigh less than my mastiff Goober (he's 210)

Glad to hear everything went well - see it wasn't that bad.

I did pretty good. I went to a friends house the day of the surgery, I still have 2/3 of the pain medication left. I was driving around doing shopping and everything in 4 days. It's the damn gas they give you in the hospital that seems to be the worst thing - it made my shoulders hurt. But it works out. I would suggest picking up some chewable GAS-X gas (mint was best) as it seems most of us also have stomache gas for a few weeks. As for the ticker, I always seem to have to redo it!

Doctor says I have Hypothyroidism !!!
sharon replied to MomCeo111's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have hypothroidism also - and although it might explain a sluggish metabolism it would not explain bingeing and grazing. I'd say maybe you can blame 10 lbs on that but my other 95 is going to be helped by the band. -
Good Luck Corgi! If you see any cute Doctors just give them a pinch (oops sorry, must be the pain killers!)

I'm a same dayer. I went in at 9:00am, Surgery at arond 12:30pm and went home at 4:30pm. They gave me a little happy juice shot at around 3:30pm. When I was leaving they asked if I wanted a wheel chair ride out - I said no thanks and walked out. One friend drove me to another friend house (do not be on your own). But I was getting up and down and in out of bed on my own. The next day I went for a short walk. But ... one case is not like another. I maybe obesely overweight but I am semi-active. Beside a low thyroid and high cholesterol I did not have any medical problems or physical affirmities. I was doing all my yard work, going to Curves, walking my dogs etc. I do not like being waited on and I'm pretty pain tolerant and I for one don't want to ever stay in a hospital longer than I have to (there's a lot of sick people in there).

I shoguld have known better. The chicken piece was to big but I figured I could chew them alll up. ..... munched a nice big piece - hmm good chicken - reading my newspaper, ooh I wonder if they are going to have a sale at MAcy's.....uhoh,.... the last peice doesn't fee so good - shoot, deep breaths, drink a little Water, drink a little bit more ---- OK no more water. Everybody out of my way. almost sick, almost sick, that's it i'm tired of waiting for it ,ggaaauugg, bleeecchh. Well now I feel much better, I'll sit back down and.... You chicken, yes evil chicken, the only place you are going is in the dog bowls. You my litty squishy string bean , you are my friends tonight

My port kind of seemed like an "outtie", it doesn't stick out of the skin but for a while it looked very prominent. It will itch in the last stages of healing

I have an English Mastiff and a Rottweiler both are prodigous farters. I would have to say I fart a lot more and burp a lot more but I believe my farting really doesn't smell that much. My mastiff, Goober, can peel wallparper off the wall!!!

I think it's the exception - I've PB'd once so far (OK I've only been banded over a month) but I knew when I swallowed that piece of chicken that it was way too big and I hadn't chewed enough. I had more than enough time to get to the bathroom and I had just started to eat so there wasn't much to come back up. I had a small bowl of chili for lunch today (yummy!) and I was fine, cause I chewed chewed chewed. It may boil down to how sensitve your stomache was before. I use to be able to eat everything, never a sign of heartburn or indigestion (of course maybe if I did I wouldn't have gained so much weight) so the band for me is a restriction, my appetite is much less as is my capacity to eat but so far nothing seems to bother me as long as I chew it to death.

Congratulations to the club - our secret signal is to rub your port three times. Of course we do confuse lapbanders and people with heartburn. Now your only difficult decision will be at restaurants - "If I order this do I want to eat it as leftovers for the next three meals"!! -
my names not on the list

As long as I chew food down to mush in small bites I can eat it. Matloaf is pretty wasy since it's cooked mush. You'll see from this site that doctors are very different as to how long you do liquids and mushies.

Reality check & average weight losses....
sharon replied to Wyld Blu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
By the way - for those of you who have hit a plateu with weight loss - you need to start measuring your chest, waist, hips, thighs, calves and arms. There will be times when your body echanges fat for muscle, in fact you might even gain weight (muscle weighs more than fat). You might be pleasantly suprised to see that inches are coming off even though your weight is staying still. -
Thank god I was at home when this happenned - My dogs were a little concerne because I was throwing up in their drinking bowl :knockedou
-
I was thinking maybe I could flush it through - that didn't work. Hmmm waving my arm in circles, that makes for a pretty good mental picture, I'm waving my arms in circles and then upchuck - people will think I'm possessed!
-
I'm going to try to lose an additional 22 lbs by then!!! I think we should all have a second ticker now that has the June 1'st goal on it
-
Yes, I now have conversations with my food - "Are you friend or foe?" This was a lesson learned - only take small pieces and chew like crazy - I felt much better aftward though and I had a little meatloaf (friend) later that night. I have a picnic to go to this Friday - HOTDOGS!!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING GROSS PICTURES Lisa's Surgical Wounds
sharon replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's got to be the biggest innie I've ever seen. -
Don't forget that your local Women's Shelters could use the clothes (with a little tax write off to boot) if they don't have any rips or stains.

Thanks so much everyone - I was taking either 3 or 4 chewies so I was getting at least the minimum needed.
