I have twins that were 2 at the time of surgery I could not lift them but I did hold them, I held their arm so they could climb up beside me, if it wasn't for the help of my husband and parents it would have been impossible. Good luck to you, I had my surgery July 2013

I was one of the unfortunate ones, pain was excruciating, took 3 weeks for me to start feeling better. Everyone is different though.

Hi I had gastric sleeve july 2013. Since then I've lost 193 pounds. I have not had any problems with sleep apnea. Asthma, breathing issues, since surgery. I have had to have a total hysterectomy a few months ago. I'm have some issues with blood pressure that I haven't discussed with my doctor yet, going this week. Some days I feel really bad, even light headed and dizzy some and I'll check my blood pressure and it's always low. Like 90/52, and just the other day it was 78/46, my question is does any one else experience this with the weight loss.

Thank you, I don't take any blood pressure medicines but do take a cholesterol medicine. Even though I have had the weight loss my cholesterol is still high. And hormones from having the hysterectomy. Other than that just the normal vitamins.

Hello everyone. My name is Rhonda. I had gastric sleeve surgery last July (2013).over the last 13 months I lost 190 pounds which I am extremely happy with. What's going on now I really need some words of encouragement.i am 43 and last Tuesday underwent a total hysterectomy. I have twin 2 year olds so I was ok wasn't going to try for another. But I am home can not so much right now to tend to the , the house. Etc. that makes me feel bad.i have to stay in bed a good bit, when I get up moving around a little while which I do, I start hurting. So I have to get down. What I am worried about is not being mobile. I am still watching what I eat. But I'm terrified of gaining weight. I am only 5 ft tall so I still for me want to loose another 23 pounds I am 148 now, looking to get to 125. I have been watching every episode of extreme wright loss. I am totally motivated but can not actually to right now.sorry the long post just feeling so emotional. By the way my parents are a tremendous help with the babies and my husband at night so they are well taken care of. It's just the my not being able to do.. That bothers me..

Thank you. I am one week from my hysterectomy.i saw my doctor yesterday and he told me take it easy I had major surgery . That's hard to take it easy. I am just a little paranoid about gaining a pound. I worked so hard and went thru so much to get that weight off and don't want any type of relapse. I know it's going to be ok in the end just not feeling it right now.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life...

If you can get past the first three days of pre op then the rest will be so much easier. -
Glad you got some relief. I've been there myself. Did not want to have to call about that so I tried tuffing it out but that was a big mistake. It will happen again most likely until your able to add enough fiber in your diet. I still go a whole week before going to the bathroom. I'm 13 months out now. I would definetley keep some suppositories on hand. And the miralax too to soften. Good luck with your journey.

Protein shake question
rhonda2006 replied to rhonda2006's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I know. It was so disgusting though. And I've been drinking them almost daily for a while. I'm 13 months out and only drink then now for Maintenence. -
Hello I left a protein shake out all day t was a premier protein shake that I had blended with ice but had to leave it. When I got back home that night I had poured it out in the sink. It did not drain down the sink so I washed with water and still it did not wash down the drain so I had to pick up the big glob and throw away in the trash. Has anyone else had this happen to them, and my next question is what are we really putting in our body with these protein shakes?

Hi those of you who are getting your protein shakes from insure nutrition, do any of you know if you can get renewed after the initial 6 months or is the 6 months the max your allowed
-
I've been getting them for several months as well and have not been billed for anything. I saw my surgeon for my 1 year checkup and he was amazed at how much weight I've lost and how well I'm doing. He said he would definetly sign a renewal for me to continue getting the shakes and all. From what I understand when your 6 months is up or about a month before call insure nutrition and let them know you would like to continue getting your product and they will send a renewal script to your doctor and keep it going as long as your insurance approves.i called them and talked to them about it. I personally like the shakes now, I could not drink any of them when I was early out, but your taste do change and what you can tolerate will. Change over time. I try to do at least 1 shake a day to add to what I eat.

Who eats McDonalds post op?
rhonda2006 replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I am 11 months post op and have lost 189 pounds. I have worked at McDonald's for 26 years now.only in the last 2 months have I tried to eat something there. I got a piece of grilled chicken one time ate about half of it and couldn't do any more. And one time a small cheeseburger and only could eat about half. Stomach starts to hurt definetly know you've had enough. I tried the fries but could only eat about 4-5, then I was done. Enough yo get full and satisfy. You do have choices though. It's all on what you choose. There's egg white delight for breakfast, grilled chicken, side salds, yogurt parfaits, apple slices, order a burger with ought the bun, an order of bacon by itself, an order of eggs add cheese.etc.. It's all on you, how you eat.not all bad, but beware of the smoothies, frappes. Etc, loaded with sugar. -
Hello i am having a bit of a problem.i am 11 months post of gastric sleeve. I started at 338 pounds. Now I am 149 pounds. Size 24-26 to now a loose size 10. My problem is that I still see myself as fat. I know I've come a long way and feel really good about that, but does it get better the way you are yourself. I was talking to a girl at work yesterday and asked her why she wouldn't keep her shirt in she said because I'm fat, I told her I was far too and I keep mine in she looked at my like I was crazy and said your not fat. It's been a really long time since I was not fat

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have bought myself a few new clothes lately and trying to get pretty brighter colors instead of dark dull colors. I do still pick up clothes and say I'm going to try this on even though I know it's not going to for and then to my surprise it does fit. I bought myself a swimsuit too with a skirt to cover my thighs. Yes my precious babies will be 3 on October plus I work full time as a restaurant manager. It hasn't been easy at times. I guess it just takes time to see ourselves in a different light.

Snacks for those craving a "crunch"
rhonda2006 replied to fuzzymonkey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This may sound weird but when I was that early out I chewed on a few dill picks slices but did not swallow it. That satisfied my crunch and salty needs. -
Wish you well soon

Hey guys. I'm in not so good of a mood today. I am down to 156 from 338 which is wonderful. 182 pounds gone and I'm very happy about that. I can wear a size 12 jeans and a lg/ xl shirt. But.. My problem is when I look in the mirror lately it's depressing because I still see far. I do have some loose skin in my stomach and thighs I guess that's what is looking fat to me. But thru all this process 9 months, I didn't expect to still see myself as fat even though my mind knows I'm not fat like I was anymore. I know it too will pass but so depressing. I'm sure there's plenty of other people out there with the same thoughts.

Thank you. I know it takes time. I just feel a little something sometimes.
