I'm actually going back to BC soon(I'm homesick) But lucky, my grandma used to work for air canada, and I can get these standby tickets for $50, so I'm just gunna fly back for my fill. But, I have a question for you, how soon after surgery did you fly back? Got any banded flying tips??

I'm 19 and got mine done 3 days ago. Allthough I haven't recieved any of the blessings yet, I'm glad that I did it now Because right now, I'm not in bad health, no medical issues, heart rate returns to normal quickly after exersise. But I knew that if I didn't take this weight off, it would start to affect(effect, oh jesus, i dunno, lol) my health. Plus, I've allready wasted so many years of my life being fat, why waste more And, purplegirl I hope everything goes a-ok for you and you get your surgery I sure know that being over weight in high school sucks! I wish I had the opportunity when i was 16...loose all the wieght before college! It'll be like starting a new life!! Ps. Nice birthday, I'm october 17th!

bsimoes, I'm not gunna lie, I like many others have the gas pain But it's only day 3 and it's better than yesterday And what's a few days of pain for a life time of a new body! Ps. Way to go with loosing 30lb's pre-op!

Beachgirl, "only 70" 70lbs in a year is a HUGE deal!! Congradualtions and back to Tracy, The complications are such a minor minor risk with the lapband And I know alot of people weren't that great with pre-op diet just focus on the post-op I'm on day 3 and having noo problems, I barley even want to drink anything

I went though the same thing The night before surgery I had insane urges to eat everything I thought I could put in my stomache...like multiple cheeseburgers a whole pizza, thinking it was the last time in my life I could ever binge. But, I didn't, because that would have really screwed up the surgery I was terrified about getting it until it was lights out for me. Even as they put the oxygen mask on me I made the nurse tell me everything was going to be OK...lol. Allthough, the only other surgery I had was getting my wisdom teeth removed... But when I woke up I knew I made the right decision! Don't worry, it'll all turn out ok!

Yeah, Jetlagjane, I didn't find much pain yesterday, mostly because I too was asleep, but also, the pain meds they gave you there are pretty strong, and keep in your system. Today has been worse...but then again, the first 48 hours allways are. Keep on top of it though! Take that demrol!!! Even if you might not think you need it, I'm taking it every four hours, I'm not waiting for a butt load of pain to catch up with me.

I just got banded yesterday at TLBC in Toronto(duh, lol) I slept most of yesterday, but woke up a few times in need of pain medication. The pain isen't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'm still having sholder pain(from the inflating) and some chest tightness here and there. Besides that, i pretty much just don't like that fact that I can't sleep on my side for now.(I hate sleeping on my back) So, is there anything any of your recomend to do for the first few days? I know all about the liquid diet(which is fine by me, I love cranberry juice and broth)

LB surgery for my unhappy tean daughter?
ConSafo replied to ducky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Reggoddes, I am quite astouned by the position your taking. Haven't even finished college? For one thing, half way through it is better than alot of people, and secondly, I'd like to think that someone with the wisdom that you preach you have, would understand there's more to being inteligent, not just if you've graduated college. You mention that you got the band for medical reasons.... Quite a few medical conditions out there are brought on, or increased by obiesty. So why wait till your 30 or 40 for these to set in? I think most everyone on here can agree, the band is not the answer to everything. It will not magically make those donuts 30cals each. But what it will do is aid you on the road to weight loss. Because, lets face it's, it's an addiction, and a damn hard one at that. -
LB surgery for my unhappy tean daughter?

I have to agree with what rob and audury(i'm pretty sure it was you two...lol) said. However, I know I'm only 2/3 years older than your daughter, but I really believe that under 18 is a little too young. I mean, there's no way I would have been ready for this at 16. Heck, I never even thought about it until a few months ago when my father mentioned it to me(he had a gastric bypass at 30) I mean, I think most kids are looking at this as an easy way out Like, get the surgery, loose a bunch of weight over night(which is not the case) and magically it will completly change their life. I'm not saying that it isen't something that should be looked into though. I would really have to suggest finding someone that your daughter can talk to, because it helps alot. And, I'm not sure how much she's tried dieting or whatnot(i've been on too many too count) I know something my mom did to try to encourage my weightloss was to reward me with things I wanted. So, I mean, say if she looses 20lbs she can get something she's wanted. I know for me it was piercings(which my mother hates) but if I worked towards it, she let me get it, even though she didn't like it. I'm just saying this because, I really think that surgery should be the last string. I know for me though, that this is what's it's going to have to be. However, all that being said. If in a year or so she still really wants it, and hasen't been able to loose weight, I say go for it. Why wait till long term medical effects take thier tole.
