I was on the Adkins diet for about 3 months several years ago. Lost 40lbs but was very weak! When I went in to see my Dr. He ran all kinds of blood test and then told me to GET OFF THAT DIET NOW!! He said my blood work has never been so bad. My protein levels were so high he had me take some more test to see if I had Lupis. Didn't thank God! As soon as I was off Adkins, my blood work went back to normal and I had my energy back. (what little I ever had) The no carb diet is not for me!! I like, no love the banding diet lots better!

I also get all my fills (but one) under fluoro, I go to the Ambulatory surgery dept. at the hospital. where I meet my surgeon and nurse. It's fast and easy. It is included in the cost of my surgery for the first year.

I didn't have a choice of band size. I ask my surgeon and he told me what size he put in and how many cc's it held. I guess some dr. tell you and some don't. I think I read here that it depends on how much weight you need to lose. but I am not sure. Good luck on the research,

Mercedes, Wow your date is just around the corner. I can't tell you not to be scared because I WAS!!!! I have heard from many on this board that Dr. Ortiz is wonderful! My life has changed since being banded. FOR THE BETTER!!! I have more energy. I'm healther. I still have a long ways to go but I would not change a thing that I have done! I eat pretty much the same foods I ate pre Band Just smaller portions. some find there are foods they can no longer eat. It's trial and error. Yes I still go out to eat now and then. I just get a to go box and instead of 1 meal I have 2 or 3 meals out of it!! I have not barfed at all! I a'm very careful and I chew my food very well and take very small bites and STOP WHEN I'M FULL! (That's the hard part. Learning to STOP!) I have come close but never crossed over. There are some that have BP'ed. (productive burp) and there are some who haven't. Everyone is different. As for telling people about your surgery, That is totaly up to you. some have told no one and others like me have told everyone. (big mouth me would tell the world if I could!) Again everyone is different and you just have to decide what is best for YOU! I don't think anyone world think something weird is going on with you they will just think you have found that SOMETHING that WORKS for you! I was hungry on my post op liquid diet but it's not as bad as you think it will be. I was on a pre surgery liquid diet for 14 days Clear liquids only and some milk thrown in. Now that was tough!!!!!!!!!!! I was up and around 4 days after surgery and didn't feel bad at all. AGAIN EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! Hang in there, everything will work out fine. Just think of the new you! ((((HUGS))))

OMG, I think it's going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana I was talking to a friend of mine at work today and told her how much I wanted to come, but didn't think i could pull it off and then She said " I'll take you!" She said that her and her BF can drive me and then the 2 of us can party with you all while her BF does what ever he wants. I will have only a million ?'s so please bear with me, but being disabled I really have to pre plan and I'm already behind. Lisa, if it's ok with you I will PM you later with some more ?'s? I promise not to overwelm you with too many! Only a million or so!! My friend Kara went right in a wrote our names down to have the 9 off. OMG, OMG, OMG,OMG and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I am ALWAYS doing this!! You can almost tell what I had for dinner just looking at my shirt. If you eat sitting in front of the tv do you use your stomach rolls as a table? When I lose weight I will have to sit at a real table because I will no longer have one built in!!

Freckles---I had to go to 2 large group seminars and then 1 small group seminar with my surgeon. They just talked about the band and the fills the pros and the cons of surgery. what to expect and so on. This was all a requirement of my surgeon not my insurance. siva---as to how long it takes to feel normal? Not sure what you call normal? I feel a new normal since banding. A new and better normal!! I think it took about 4 weeks to feel really good. I am 8 months out now and have no pain unless I eat wrong. I can not feel my port, only see the incission. Where do the fills go? Well they go into your band. The Dr. puts the Fluid into your port and it goes to the band. Everyone has their ports in different locations it all depends on their surgeon. Mine is on my left lower side about 5 inches from my belly button. you can hit search up on top of page and find all kinds of info on fills. If you type in 5th fill today that is my post and I added pictures of my fill. Good luck to you both.

I was out a week. But I could have gone back sooner. I was banded on a Friday and the school where I work was closed that following week. I felt better by that Tuesday and went out shopping. I guess It all depends on what kind of job you have. and how you feel. Everyone is different on their recovery!! Good luck and happy healing!
