Hi John, Welcome to LBT!! And also welcome to Bandland!!!

I was on a 2 week liquid only diet. I called it the diet from HELL!! Sugar free drinks like crystal light. I could have 3 cups of ff milk a day and 2 sf fudgesicles. everything else was see through. sf jello, sf clear drinks, sf popsicles, Oh God this was a year ago and I can't remember what else I could have but I know it wasn't much. I thought I was going to die from it but I didn't. I lost 11 lbs that 2 weeks before surgery! Oh yeah, I could have all the broth I wanted.(chicken or beef)

I am on Medicare because of a disability. I had no trouble at all with them paying their 80%. I had my surgery on Nov 19 of 2004.

Welcome to bandland!! It's a great place to be!! Amos, I agree with Crystal, Talk to your Dr. and find out if you should be on soft foods!? I was on liquids for 2 weeks before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. You don't want to do anything to damage your band or your stomach. As for what we can eat after surgery, Well just about anything that your band will allow, just smaller amounts. For me I can't eat soft breads(well toasted toast is fine if I chew really well), lettuce is a big no no for me but others have no trouble at all with it. You will find out what your band approves of when you are on solids again. Just take it easy and chew, chew, chew!! Good luck

Pabandgal, some dr.'s use smaller needles. When I get my fill from a local dr, she uses a much smaller needle. With either one I do not feel any pain. Good luck
