Welcome to LBT Mary!! It is a great place for support!! I am a preschool teacher and have to chase around 27 3 and 4 year olds. Losing weight is helping me to keep up to them. (Kinda)OH soooo much energy for such small bodies!! But I love each and everyone of them. Some days more than other days.

Patti, here is another pic. of the needle all the way in. My local Doc uses a smaller needle and still does the fill. So who knows why they use different needles?

I still had to pay a little over $1,000. Medicare paid the rest $23,000+ was my total bill from start to finish. I am not sure if medicare will pay for fills My sergeon did not charge me for the 4 fills he did.(under fluro) The other 2 fills were done local and she charges just $75. So I didn't have here submit it to medicare.

Hi Amy, Welocme to LBT!! For me it took about 6 months from time I decided to get banded to actually get the surgery. Some here on LBT have had it happen a lot sooner. So who knows maybe 3 months isn't to hopeful. EVERYBODY and EVERY SURGEON is different. So what you can expect from now until surgery will differ also. For me I worked with a company called "TWIGS" They did all my paperwork and found me a surgeon. Thank God for them! You will probably have to go to several siminars and to a psychiatrist for a psych exam. and then to a nutritionist. It seems like a lot of work but it all paid off in the long run. About the pain, Well again everyone is different I had some pain but was controlled by liquid childrens motrin. Not much pain at all. When I woke up in recovery I was mad because I thought they didn't do anything. They had and there was pain med. in my IV. But at home I only took the motrin. My surgery was at 8ish am and I was in a room by 10ish. am. Only stayed overnight and was sent home about 2 the next day. I had to stay a little longer because I was having trouble peeing on my own. I had to have a cath put in around 4am. That was not fun! Couldnt go home till I peed on my own. I have 5 scars on my stomach, 4 very small ones and one larger one where the port is. Search for scars on the search above and you can see several people have posted pic. of their scars. As for fills.. That is done about 4+ weeks after placement of your band. We have a port where the Dr. can inject saline into our bands to make it tighter around our stomachs. I have had 6 fills and have 6cc's in right now. Again use the search key and find out lots more on fills. I have a thread called "My 5th fill" Where I posted pic. of my fill. How often you get one just depends of your restriction. Just keep searching the board and you will get a lot of your questions answered. Good luch and happy researching!!

Hi Lisa, Welcome to LBT!! I also would do it all over again. I think that It is the best decesion I have ever made. I have been banded for almost 14 months and have lost a little over 70lbs. My Dr. told me it would take about 2 years of good work to lose what I want to. For me it hasn't been easy because you CAN eat around the band and I have found the way. I am now back on track and loving it and myself all over again. Again Welcome to LBT, It's a wonderful place to be!!

I voted for **Medicare paid for the lot*** But Then thought again because they paid 80% not "the lot" I still had to pay a little over $1,000. But that was from THE VERY BEGINING. DR appt to get referal and on......

I feel NO restriction in my VG band
coyotegirl replied to Clementine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Clementine, I also have the VG band and felt no restriction after my 1st fill and very little after 2,3,4,and 5th fill. I have now had 6 fills and got to my "sweet spot". (for a few months) Now I am in need of another fill. Not much but a little. It is a 3 hour drive one way to see my surgeon for a fill. How many cc's are you at right now? I have 6 cc's. I am not sure if you can stretch the pouch or not. But probably! There are times when I think "My God I can eat just like I ate before". Then when I really look at what I just ate I realize that I didn't eat as much as I thought I did. It just feel that way. Hang in there. It will get better!! and you will get smaller!!!!! :) -
Hi Georgia, I agree with Randy, Talk to Jack! Welcome to LBT!!

I have Medicare and they paid for my banding. But there are others that have it and they did not cover it. I am not sure why They paid it for me but I thank God everyday that they did. Good luck

What's Your Favorite Type of Pet?
coyotegirl replied to donali's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Here is my baby!! His name is Cowboy. He was 1 on Dec.6th. I also have 2 cats. -
I have had 6 fills and 2 of them were without fluroscope. If I see my surgeon then he does it under fluro but if I see a local doc then she does it without. It is fine both ways.
