My insurance doesn't cover the sleeve surgery here in CT. I am at a loss with what I should do. My friend recently had the weight loss surgery and introduced me to this site. I have been doing research on getting surgery in Mexico. It seems everyone has a good experience getting surgery with Dr. Ponce and that is who i am looking into. I just have concerns about have surgery in Mexico. I seems a little sketchy because it is so cheap. Any Suggestions?

I'm looking into seeing Dr. Quinones for my surgery. Has anyone else used him? If so, what was your experience like?

Dr Q is Dr. Quinones, its easier to say Dr Q! I will not be at the marriott =/ i stay 2 days at a hospital and then go to the Real del Rio Hotel in Tijuana. Maybe its close by??

Just booked my surgery for July 3rd! so excited!

I've decided to go for the surgery in Mexico. I'll be having surgery with Dr. Q on July 3rd! So nervous but excited. I've been struggling with weight for as long as I can remember and the risk is completely worth it to me.

I was turned down for surgery in because my insurance doesn't cover it here in CT (or anywhere in the US). So I found on this forum that there is surgery in Mexico. After a bunch of research, I decided to go with Dr. Quinones. My reason for him is: 1. He is a certified instructor, he taught Dr. Aceves what he does know. 2. He will perform surgery, and then for your stay, he personally checks up on you. (its cool to know that the person who did your surgery and knows exactly whats going on is changing your IV's and taking care of you also.) 3. He performs surgery in a hospital. (not a clinic) 4. You stay at a hospital for 2 nights 3 days and then a hotel for 1 night instead of staying at a hotel right after surgery. 5. There is no extra charge to bring a loved one with you. 6. He speaks FLUENT English. The list can go on and on, his coordinator, Bill, is very helpful and an awesome guy too. My surgery has not happened yet, I am in the process of booking it for June 14th! So my doctor told me that they would be more then happy to see me after surgery! Which is awesome. The only thing that she stressed was that if I went to her after surgery for my 3 month check up, she would code the bill as after surgery care and my insurance may NOT cover it. She said to check with them first. Now, getting in touch with insurance is going to be the killer. If they will cover it, I will have my date for surgery set in Mexico with Dr. Quiniones!

I was told that most the time we wouldn't need follow up care. A lot of people don't do follow up care. I'm just worried about if something went wrong when I get back, would they help me. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and see what they say. Ill let you know!

all of his reviews seem to be very good. Just the thought of surgery in mexico is scary!
