a list of things to bring?
Jiggly Puff replied to katie75009's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I've seen a few people mention ear plugs. Either because of loud hallways at night or construction going on during the day. This is a brief list of just some of the things I'm taking along with my clothes: My Kindle Fire HD, charger for that and cell phone (same one fits both), car charger adapter (for airplane), head phones, swimsuit (for the first day of pre-op hotel), meds I have to take daily, Gas-X, travel size everything, sunglasses, wet wipes and hand sanitizer. -
Marriot popcicles!
Jiggly Puff replied to thetattooedlady's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you for the input on those! I'll be there on the 15th now since I had to re-schedule. I'll be sure to avoid the meat flavored ones. -
That's awesome! Good luck with your recovery!

Unresponsive coordinator, anyone else having issues with that?
Jiggly Puff posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I don't know if I'm overreacting or what. But I've been working with a certain coordinator of a certain well known WLS company since April. Everything is set up (at least on my part anyway). My "Plan A" is set in motion. I have my doctor's picked out, hotel, hospital, passport, my tests done, plane ticket bought, surgery date, time off work, etc. The coordinator and I have been in constant contact the entire time...until recently. I don't know what's going on, maybe it's nothing. But I have contacted her several times last week by phone, text and emails and she answered one of them. Plus, I got an "undeliverable" message when I tried to text her. After ignoring my first communications, she told me she had to talk to me right away (as soon as I mentioned method of payment). Since I work 50-60 hrs a week, we had to schedule an actual appointment to meet up on the phone. My one day off to spend with family and I had to make sure I was available to take her call at that scheduled time. But she never called me like she said she would. Normally, I don't think I would be making a big deal out of this, but it just so happens that last night I read on these forums that this same coordinator is kind of showing the same bad communication to another patient. So now that I'm getting scared and having second thoughts about using this company, I've been "shopping" around to other WSL company's. I'm getting together Plan B next. I'd hate to shut down my first plan, but if she doesn't get her act together or send me some kind of communication soon for standing me up, I'll be forced to go elsewhere. -
Unresponsive coordinator, anyone else having issues with that?
Jiggly Puff replied to Jiggly Puff's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Ok update! I am sooooo relieved to have finally heard from my coordinator. I was very concerned that there might have been something very wrong on her end (after all, it's not always about me, me, me right?!) So I didn't say anything about looking at different companies. I was very nice about it and just asked her if something was wrong (several times). It turns out that she did have a family crisis. Poor thing. Still, I have quite a few unanswered questions (especially about payment), and time is running out (13 days as of this posting). I'm not saying she did anything wrong as a coordinator, but I would think a company this popular would have somebody covering the workload just in case of emergency's. Just saying. -

Thank you so much everyone for your responses and help. I think I will tell her that I do have a another plan with another company if I don't hear from her soon. She even called me on the day her kids graduated school. And in the past, she has told me when she'd be unavailable. This is so unlike her. I'll keep trying to contact her through that phone # she claims to be her cell. We'll see what happens. -
Long story short, I'm a divorced single mom of one and I come from a large, close knit family. However, they have almost disowned me over this. The backlash has been awful. We are all barely speaking to each other. I'm all alone and I have zero support. I almost regret telling them. But in a way, I wouldn't have felt right keeping it a secret either. But now I just have to suffer in silence or be happy in silence. This forum is all I have to help me through this. Which I am grateful for.

Has anyone used Mexico Bariatric Center ?
Jiggly Puff replied to frostypaws41's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hello! I've seen lots of posts about them. I currently have my surgery set up through the MBC on 07/09/13, with Dr. Valenzuela (as the lead) and her partner, Dr. Caberera. I've been working with Christy, their coordinator. I don't believe she's in the Philippines. That's kind of surprising, since this is the first I've heard of that. Check out "SerendipityHappens" profile. She had the same exact team at the Mi hospital through the MBC as well. My experience dealing with Christy has been very good so far. You're in the right forum. Good luck with your research and your future with the sleeve! -

Who DOESN'T Get Approved?
Jiggly Puff replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I can't imagine why that would rule you out. When you decide on a weight loss center that's going to help you find your package deal in Mexico, (that's the route I'm taking) they send you a form to fill out. Be as honest as you can so that the surgeon can help you the very best possible way. Believe me, they have probably seen it all. The doctor I have, has done over 2,500 surgeries. Find one with experience. Good luck to you! -
I got a quote, where I live in Denver, CO, and it was $17,500 for self pay. I couldn't possibly justify that. Even though I had other options to help pay it. I chose MX for $4,700. She should really look into it.

Feeling like this is a good decision

Great job!!! I'm so happy to hear you were able to "pay it forward" with the two gentlemen about your experience. Thank you for being honest about the "buyers remorse". That's a good point to bring up that I would never have thought of until the day after my surgery. I'll keep that in mind and not freak out. Good luck on your continued success! -
You look AMAZING girl! Congrats on your success! Good post and question. Since that's the first thing that goes when I lose weight, I'd like to know that answer too for my future skin and nipples.

10 things I can't wait to do
Jiggly Puff replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my favorite thread! I feel exactly the same way on just about everything you all listed. Here's my list: To feel attractive and to fall in love again (hopefully for good this time!) I avoid men like the plague because I can't imagine anyone falling in love with me looking like this. Get rid of ALL of my fat clothes! To wear my jewelry To walk with confidence To wear sun dresses and spaghetti strap tops! I want to be social and outgoing again To ride a motorcycle again I want to "turn heads" for the right reasons, not because I'm fat To prove my family wrong, that getting the VS is the right thing for me to do And last but not least, to make my son proud of me -
Thank you so much for posting your experience. It really helps everyone who is not on the sleeved team yet. I really appreciate every detail. Even the "TMI" parts because nobody is exempt in any of those areas. Keep up the great work and good luck on your journey!

My Experience w/ Mi Doctor and Dra. Louisiana Valenzuela
Jiggly Puff replied to NotADumbBlonde's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you so much for this fantastically candid review of the Mi Doctor and the two surgeons I've signed up for. Everything you said was very much needed to hear. The good, the not-so-bad and the sometimes scary. You really put my mind at ease and I feel so much better now that I have a really good idea of what to expect. What really got me was the part about that poor guy who had to be transferred to another hospital and how the doctor was with him the whole time. I'm so relieved that your story had a happy ending. Thanks again for sharing, congrats on your weight loss and good luck to you!!! -
To add to the topic, what's a good scar reducer?
